Hello, i got in this forum by chance and i saw this thread that interests me. You see my girlfriend bought a copy of final fantasy XIV a while back but because of certain events i couldn't register or install the game all together. So i searched a little bit the past 2 days and i saw this link http://support.na.square-enix.com/faqarticle.php?kid=64269&id=902&la=1&ret=faq&pv=10 that says

"You can redeem any (unused) registration codes that come packaged with FINAL FANTASY XIV currently on sale to start playing a new game even after FINAL FANTASY XIV is re-released as FINAL FANTASY XIV: A REALM REBORN, so please be assured."

So doesn't that mean i can still redeem the code i have and play the ff xiv a realm reborn when it comes out?

For my understanding, yes any Final Fantasy 1.0 including buddypass Key Code will be able to be used in ARR. The buddypass is a full access game key, you get 30 days free trail and after that you have to pay the subscription. My brother been using the buddypass I gave him and the only thing he did was pay the sub, did not had to buy the game. A buddypass user need to use the CD from the original CE purchased, I imagen ARR will have a option to create a CD backup so that people don't have to download posibly 15 GBs of data everytime something happens to the computer.

It been said in by Yoshi-P in the last interview that anyone that has PC version and wants to play in the PS3 will have to purchase the PS3 version. But when you have both versions, you can play in etheir one back and forward. If you have a friend or girlfriend and want to play together you can. If you purchased the PS3 version and you are able to get a copy of the PC version you can still play in etheir one. The games runs according to your account not where the game is install, you can play at your house in your PC and then go to another country and play on the PS3.

Unlikely. Far more likely to behave like other games and you can just copy the game files into the new installation. I don't see SE wasting development time on a way to make set of backup DVDS (you did mean DVD right? Not 17 or so CDs? :) )

Who would want to do that anyway? If you are that concerned, use Windows to make recovery DVDs of your whole OS. Otherwise get a NAS and dump the game files there.

Well i mailed them about my problem and so i will wait for an answer, i do hope my copy isn't useless. In the button line it wasn't my fault nor my girlfriends fault that SE wanted to remake the game. So if people have hard copies of the game they should be permitted to enter the new game.

While i do believe this is fair, not many people care about what is fair or not, its all about money. In the end i don't have high hopes and i am guessing i will need to buy the game again.

I will post again once i get a mail from SE.

cheers.

Yeah I ment DVDs, specially since everyone from 1.0 is getting a digital copy. I would be nice if it is a zip file or folder that then you can just backup for future use. I did had to use my 1.0 twice in the 2 years of the game. That is why I was glad I did same all of the patches too and did not had to wait days of downloads and updates to get back in the game.

And i am back with SE response. I must say they were fast and i was pleased with their answer hehe.

So here is what i asked : "I have a copy of final fantasy XIV that i got a while back but due to some events i didn't have the time to register the game nor even install it.Now that i can i saw that you are re launching the game. Can i still use the copy of final fantasy xiv (with the unused code) i had bought back then and play the new ff xiv. Thank you for your time."

and this is the answer i got from them : "Dear ***,

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Support Centre.

We are very sorry that you are unable to register for Final Fantasy XIV.

Since November 11th, 2012, all worlds of Final Fantasy XIV are offline and active service accounts as well as registrations are suspended until the redesign "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn" is released. You will then be able to register the code you already purchased. Unfortunately, we do not have any information on the exact time of the release at this time.

At the moment, the beta phase for A Realm Reborn is underway. If you wish to participate, you can apply for a Beta code here: http://entry.ffxiv.com/beta/eu

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Kind regards,

The Square Enix Support Centre team"

With that we now know that any unused or w/e code from 1.0 we have we can use it to play the new a realm reborn.Something that i believe as i already said is right since i/we bought the game. With that response (and a fast one as well) i must say that SE gain a few points in my eyes!

Hope this helps the rest of the people to easy their minds.

Cheers
