I'm not quite that attached to the PS3, but I'm a bit of the same mind - part of the reason I chose it over the Wii or the Xbox was because I knew SE would be trying to put XIV on it.
No one uses the PS3 for much besides Netflix, aside from the occasional game. It's sad - $400 gaming system, and the whole setup is used as a cable box.
It's funny for me because console feels very natural to me when it comes to mmo. When I was turned on to EQ I played it on the ps2 then naturally ran out and got the hdd for FFXI. I've played several pc mmo's since and within that time of course, but a comfy couch and controller is totally my prefered way to play. To say I brought home a ps3 shortly after my old static and myself first starting planning the great news of FFXIV's arrival in a couple years would be understating the purchase. What began as, "Heavenly Sword, Siren, and Folklore should keep me busy" turned into, "Bayonetta was fun but /sigh, maybe a new Fatal Frame will come out".
I've been a patient little kitty with my ps3. I'm just ready to wag my tail again in a bustling newb filled FF world.
