I hopped on it a few months ago and played a few days. I went out of new town to another area and never saw another soul... Are you guys all like highest lvl possible and totally far away from newb zone? This game is not newb friendly....
Try starting a character on one of the classic servers, plenty of people in every zone.

In some respects you are correct. As mentioned by another below, if you try one of the new classic servers such as Gareth, the /level command is disabled. This means many more "newb" types, many of which already do have at least one 50 level character. I play a level 50 Heretic, but am currently enjoying some time on a level 7 wizard as well. Don't give up hope! Also, once you have played a character to level 50, you can always try out one of the other server types and use the /level command to start automatically at level 20.

Looks like Mythic is realizing that people are playing the 'classic' servers more, so they are mass clustering servers together. Just last night, there were actually 52 albs in Thid/Galahad cluster. It was a joy seeing Albs group well together and Take CK repeatedly from Hibs and Mids! Of course the BG of Mids was frustrating. <hehe>
Overall though, I think that there has been a huge drop off of players since 2001. Even I have issues with mythic, such as: I have 3 active accounts. I have an 800G/month house. Why wont Mythic write in the software enabling me to pay rent on my house with RP's from the other 2 accounts? I have Crafters on all 3 and use the house as a workshop/store. Is it so hard to see that people may Invest in virtual real estate more if they are able to share RP's to pay rent? Yeah, I know - I can pay rent with gold from the other accounts, but why can't people use RP's same as gold? Just a little pet pieve.
Hopefully the clustering will solve the issues of grouping/finding people to group with. Only time shall tell.

Remember, it is just a game, not a drug and we are not addicts, we are gaming enthusiasts! Touch that power cable and die! ;)

I was thinking the same thing when I began playing a week ago. "Where is everybody?!?"
So, I combed the forums and found the same advice given you, Classic Servers.
I was wandering around clueless on another server and the few people I did come across were too busy playing with their bot to talk to me. Not to mention that every other name was so freakishly stupid that it was makeing my eyes roll with the immaturity of the players. Names like Ahole Ikillu, Hide nseek, and the countless last or first names that had the word bot in them.
So, I went to the rp servers thinking it would be better since I am a role player at heart. What's on the role player servers? Nothing and nobody.
NOW, I have found a home on classic server Lamorak and am very happy. Lots of players of all levels and so far all seem nice. Example, I got lucky five minutes into the game a guy comes up to me and outright gave me 50g ...FIFTY GOLD .. that's like winning the lottery to a noob!
I used the gold to put together a guild. I have pledged to use the guild to help noobs and others when needed. Also I am in hopes of doing rvr. ..only thing is that I don't have the money to buy a guild emblem, much less a guild house..ouch.. any more nice players out there, please???
So, if you are on classic Lamorak server give me or another in Fabled Heroes a yell.

can i just ask, what exactly is the difference with classic servers i play EXCAL/MID what type of server is this??? and i tend to use /20 to help the newbies etc with healers and shamans
