Why play DAoC?Follow

Hi I currently play Ultima Online, and I have been reading about DAoC I am looking for a new MMORPG cause UO is just getting old with all the new ones.

Anyways, I see the graphics are wonderful but on UO the 2d doesnt bother me one bit it has great gameplay and I was hoping to find a game with the same great gameplay and fun. I love to roleplay and PvP on uo and was wondering if DAoC had the same environment, is there PvP? PvM? Roleplaying guilds, pvp guilds? How is it whats the point? Is there alot of working your character, is it to easy to finish a character or too hard? Can you have more then just one skill on yoyur character.. didnt seem like there was too many types of caharacters.. can you have more than one character on a shard/server? Is there enough variety for me? I am looking at star wars galaxies and it has same graphics as well as World of Warcraft so the graphics on the game arent going to get me to play I need gameplay and entertainment, what is a normal day of DAoC like? do you go hunting? what do you hunt and why do you hunt that particular creature? Lot of different weapons and spells to cast? different armor?

Well I guess that is all the questions I have I was just mainly wondering why should I play this game? What does it have to offer that other games cant...?

DAOC is broken up into 3 realms: Albion, Midgard, and Hibernia. On regular servers you can create up to 8 characters but only in one realm. If you wish to play for a different realm, you must play on a different server. This is because the realms are enemies and play against one another in Realm vs. Realm (DAOC's version of PvP). RvR takes place in special zones for the most part, so you are not subjected to it unless you want to participate. A few servers are designated "roleplay" but that refers to how the players operate, not the server.

There is one pvp server (Mordred) where the realms mix and war against each other all over the 3 realms. You can have up to 8 characters in each realm for a total of 24. In contrast is the cooperative server (Gaheris) where you can also have a total of 24 characters (8 in each realm) but where the realms play together (cooperate). In effect, there is no pvp on the cooperative server except in the form of duels.

If you are a power gamer and in a hurry to reach the end game, you can probably find people to help you do that and accomplish it in a couple weeks or less. If you want to stop and smell the roses along the way - in other words - really enjoy the game, there is enough content between the Classic game, Shrouded Isles and Trials of Atlantis (over level 30) to keep you busy for a long time, not to mention the RvR battlegrounds for lower levels.

As in most rpgs, you must specialize your character to an extent else you will end up pretty ineffective. Specializing a damage line (whether melee or caster) gives you more "power" in that type (styles and spells) and closes up damage variance so you "hit" consistently at the higher end of the scale.
