If so, looks like i'm going to buy another version of ffxi to go with my 2 pc copies, and 1 ps2 version...

Might as well use my xbox live, since i paid for the damn thing.

I don't think that would work... seeing as FFXI plays through the light/platinum[or was it silver?] xbox 360 live package, I.E. it is useing Square's server, not microsofts.

The gold package is the one that plays through microsoft's servers and requires a mothly/yearly subsciption; that supports the voice chat/message system. [based off of xbox]

No voice enable, then they can't keep track of logs and such. And.. voice enable just leads to so many problems by itself

If voice chat was enabled you would get so much confusion. I mean, all those people just talking.

There will be voice chat through xbox live, which from what I've heard, would allow you to voice chat while playing any game. I also read that some games may allow video/voice while playing, wouldn't that be, eh, nvm it'll prolly suck mostly.

No, the 360 version isn't going to be voice enabled. Who in the world told you it was?

Xbox Live isn't going to have anything to do with FFXI. Microsoft was desperate enough to get it that they acceded to Square's demand that it all be managed by Square through PlayOnline. FFXI will be the only online Xbox game NOT to use Xbox Live.

{Voice Chat} + {Jeuno} = {death} {yes pleas}....

seriously, with all the shouting going on there, for teles, missions ect. no-one would be able to even hear themselves think x.x, imagine standing around in a city like NY or Boston and having everone shouting at each other, AND the shouts can be heard all over the city ( or at least like a 4th, lower jeuno upper etc.).

....Would that not be the most annoying thing EVER....

You will sign online through xbox live any time your 360 has an ethernet cable connected, that is, if you have setup your account, which knowing microsoft, it will be one of the first things you have to do when you take 360 out of the box. No one told me that, I read it, on the internet, go figuare. Don't ask me for a url, I'm too lazy. I have no reason to pull your leg about this.

What I AM saying, is this:
If you and your girlfriend (if ya got one, boyfriend if your gay, w/e) both got 360 and xbox live package, there will be a function LIKE friendlist on POL, but on xbox live service, that will allow you to voice chat with your friends while playing any game.

I did NOT say:
POL or FFXI will have voice chat.

So how will people communicate? I've seen the rumored "blackberry style" keyboard http://bink.nu/Article4631.bink , but if this isn't available what do you have to do? Macros? I guess ps/2 people who don't use a keyboard could answer that?

Just like on PS2, you should be able to use any USB keyboard on the XBox 360. Or you can use one of those ridiculous controller/keyboard hybrid things.

If you really have neither, the PS2 version of FFXI has a built in software keyboard you can use with the controller. I assume they will have this in Xbox as well. However, this is so slow that its really only useful for typing delivery box names or something, you would be hard pressed to actually converse with it.

That would not work.

Just a note: I read an article in GameInformer about this, and they at first denied that there would be voice chat for Xbox users,(sounded a bit indecisive though) for the reason that it would be harder to keep tabs on abuse and misconduct. And, for the life of me, i can't remember where i read this, but from what i can remember, the decision has been overturned, and voice chat is supposedly going to be active in the Playonline chat rooms and/or lobby. just a guess, but i'm sure it won't be in-game. I wish i had better facts to support it, though. :)
