Reading many japanese sites and trying to understand presented info I want to share with you some (warnings on rubbish compilation, mainly because english nor japanese aren't my native languages :)

Fellowship limit break quest starts after speaking to Diederik NPC in Selbina, along the coast. If he doesn't give you quest - you might want first to cap your NPC level to 50.99 and also complete quest with finding ??? for your NPC in Promyvions, as discussed earlier.

Then he presumably lets you choose on of the two:
1) Go to Angelica in Windurst Waters second floor of Rarab Tail cottage or what was that house called.
2) Go to Umberto in Bastok Markets.

For now someone tried the way going to Umberto first.
After talking to him, get pickaxes and go using it on mining points in Koroloka Tunnel untill you dig "the shell of the val shellfish". Hand it to Umberto.
After that visit Diederik in Selbina.
Now we go to Castle Oztroja east courtyard, through some door to ???, inspecting which spawns Black Yagudo to fight. After killing it we inspect ??? again.
Report to Umberto (and Angelica?).
Fellow NPC now should be able to reach lvl55, congratulations!

Sorry for incomplete and rubish info again - had to improvise a bit, need yet to try everything myself once I wake up tomorrow -curses maintenance- :)

Great info! Thanks a lot!

Makes me wonder about the Promyvion quest. So far it seems like SE is making the NPC quests available to non-CoP people, so I'm guessing the Promyvion quest is just an optional extra, but I could be wrong of course!

Again, thanks a lot!

Yup - this is all true - in the files after completing the quest in Bastok Markets you get the message:

"Your adventuring fellow's level limit is now 55."

:)

GOOD FIND!!!! RATE UP!!!

Any chance there's a link about this quest anywhere? ; ;

Can you post a link to the ???/Promyvion quest for the NPC? I've only found info and completed the food one.

well if you look here ffxi.cannotlinkto/discussion/Quests/4219 ,within the posts is the info on the promy npc quest. Also if you look at new quests area at cannotlinkto FFXI, the food quest is the first of 4 new npc quests, not including the promy one. This one appears to be extra, mind you i only have the food quest done as well and an npc of lvl31.And now could someone be so kind as to post how the npc's wpn progression should go.....ie.what wpns to trade after the fist one, and how high can you go with the wpns?
Thank you, happy hunting

Just tried visiting Diederik and did not receive any quest. I even tried talking to him with my Signal Pearl equipped (not yet used today), but still nothing.

My NPC is currently Lv50, and I've taken her out to EXP 4 times since she did level (three times in Xarcabard and once in Lufaise Meadows), so I assume her EXP is capped.

I tried checking the Rendezvous Point in Promyvion-Mea, but nothing happened.

When I talk to her about quests at a Rendezvous Point in town, she only talks about the little girl.

I've done the food quest as well, so I'm stumped as to what I can do with my NPC next. I have max fame everywhere, so I know that's not an issue.

If anyone has any other information to share about the new quests, I'd be grateful.

Here is my experience with this quest:

-I went to Diederik in Selbina to start the quest. I got it the first time I tried so I'm afraid I can't help troubleshoot for those who are having trouble getting this quest active.

-He gives you a choice on where to go. Either Angelica in Windurst or Umberto in Bastok. Whichever one you go to, your NPC will go to the other. I chose Angelica since I had stuff to do in Windy anyways.

-When I got to Angelica in Windy I got a cutscene with her, then a cutscene showing what was happening back in Bastok. Umberto mentions a Bal Shell and Angelica requests that you find one for her. To find a Bal Shell, take some pickaxes and go to Korroloka Tunnel and mine an Excavation Point. With no mining gear I got my shell on the first try.

-Take the Bal Shell back to Angelica for another cutscene. She then asks you to find an Opalescent stone for her to use in a painting. Travel to Castle Oztroja and head upstairs to the ledge above the eastern courtyard (Where Quu Domi spawns). You will see a Brass Door inside a tunnel at the end of the ledge. Click on this to get a short cutscene, then click the door again to enter the room.
Inside the room is a ???. Clicking it will spawn a Yagudo Muralist (BLM-type) and your NPC. This guy was a pushover for me; Couldn't even break through my Stoneskin. Not sure what a minimum safe level to fight him would be.
When it is defeated, click the ??? again to get an Opalescent Stone key item and return to Angelica. She will ask you to deliver it to Umberto in Bastok Markets.

-Talk to Uberto and after a short cutscene your NPC's level cap will be raised to 55!

Have fun!

Edit- Umberto is the same character model as Maat. Coincidence?

Anyone else experiencing problems getting the opalescent stone key item? I inspected the ???, spawned and killed the NM, but when I inspected the ??? again, absolutely nothing happened. Someone else came in the room, killed the NM and left, and I inspected the ??? again, and still nothing happened. I checked my key item list, and it is definitely not there. I even went ahead and talked to Angelica again, to no avail.

Edit: I discovered that I needed to talk to my NPC after defeating the NM before I could obtain the key item.

You might need to talk to your NPC after beating the NM. I couldn't get the Key item immediately either so I talked to my NPC and then I got it. Couldn't tell if it was lag or because I needed to talk to my NPC.

Yes, that seem to be the key step. I went back to the castle, killed the NM again, and I still could not obtain the key item. I spoke with my NPC, and she said to search for the stone. Then it finally let me obtain the key item.

For those that did get the limit break quest for their NPC:

1) What level was your NPC?
2) How many times have you called it since the update?
3) Did you do the Emptiness quest prior to activating this quest?

Thanks^^

1) What level was your NPC?

My NPC was level 50 when I obtained this quest.

2) How many times have you called it since the update?

Once a day since the update.

3) Did you do the Emptiness quest prior to activating this quest?

No, I have not. I did complete Past Reflections prior to this quest however.

One thing to note, when I spoke with the NPCs about the quest, they said that I had a prior friendship with Angelica (from doing several of her quests before). I do not know if you need to have completed her quests as a pre-requisite.

Hyong (75whm/blm), Warheit (74Pld/war), and I (Gallen as 75Thf/nin) did the empty and the level break quest last night on Sylph Server.

The empty was embarasingly easy, we were dissapointed we even geared up for it. As soon as we were given the time limit for Promivian-Holla at the Randevous Point, we ran around the left side towards the back being carfull not to get agro, and there it was , the ???'s, near the back, by a tree in a clearing with no mobs. Didn't even take a full 60 seconds althogh they give you 45 minutes. And the funny thing is it teleported us back to the start after we clicked on it and finished it. For FYI though, your npc's pop themselves and accompany you for this, so plan your party accordingly, we had 3 that needed it so we had to reluctantly kick our 4th friend Danku (Blm/Whm) since you can't have more then 6 members to your party including the npc's. Let me know if this count's for alliances also, I've never tried.

The limit break quest was also easy but I'd like to clerify a couple things that might of saved us some time.

1. You must have done the Posing quest with Angelica first, before the NPC in Selbina will give you the quest.

2. The bal shell drops on the first mine for all 3 of us (after angilica requests it from you of course), so you'll only need one pickaxe.

3. And this costed me major time, you can fight the nm in a party, but you probably won't be able to collect your item if you do so (yeah, even after you talk to the npc, and check the ground) at least I wasn't able to. So remember, only Solo it with your npc (who pops automaticaly anyways), try talking to the npc after you kill the NM and before you hit the ???'s again, and if you have troubles, zone out of the castle, zone back in and try again.

We came in as a party, I clicked it, my npc popped but my friends npc's didn't, we killed it, then nothing would happen when I clicked on the ???'s, granted, my npc did dissappear before I had a chance to talk to him first. (so a party kill the grab might be possible if you talk to the npc first, I'm personally not wiping my level 50 npc to find out though) We disbanded the party, Warheit solo'd his, Hyong solo'd hers (both receiving the key item), then it still wouldn't let me do mine. We ended up escaping and I ran in solo, and was able to get it after being zoned out of Castle Ostroza all together. (I had previously zoned out of the door in an attempt to get it).

Well, that's about it. You know the rest...

I hope this saves you guys some time on your runs.

I've flagged picture perfect with Diederik already and I picked Umberto to go to. The thing is when I go to talk to him, he just says leave him alone. I went back to Diederik and all he says is talk with Umberto. I also went to Angelica and all she says is something about making her art being in the temple of uggalepih. Can someone help?
