I Have played ff11 b4 but couldnt keep up with payin the monthly fee so i cancelled. Now im rejoining but when i put in my registration code it keeps saying its invalid. PLZ EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT THE PROBLEM IS PLZ

After 3 months your Registration Keys are invalid and you'll need to buy another copy of FFXI. Bad luck, sorry.

So, your saying because I decided to cancel my subscription for a while they are allowed to basically make my ffxi game completely useless?

I didn't know this, I knew after 3 months your character gets deleted, didn't know about the reg codes.

That is correct. To combat piracy and misuse of unique key codes, SE expires the registration codes after a certain period of inactivity.
Up to 2/28/2005, this time period was 3 months.
After 2/28, they expanded the time period to 12 months.

Characters will be held for 12 months after deletion of a ContentID, after which time they will be deleted.
After cancellation of all FFXI accounts associated with a registration code, the FFXI software remains valid for 12 months, after which time it will become invalid.
On the plus side: The FFXI Collection for PC is only $30, and it includes both expansion packs. If you didn't have it already, I'd recommend picking it up anyway as installing from one DVD is so much more convienant.

I have a friend that is coming back, but this information would be useful to him in making the decision on when to return.

To the OP, are you trying to create another POL ID? At one point, I had both the PS2 version and the PC version. After registering and playing on the PS2 verison, I moved over to the PC version. I then gave my PS2 version (HD and all) to a buddy so he could play. Of course, when he tried to register using the codes I already had used, he couldn't. I had to give him the codes from my PC version.
I suggest using the original POL ID and password you created in the beginning. My guess is that the Reg codes are still bound to that account thus you cannot create a new one (since it is saying "hey! someone already has an account with those codes!").
If you do not remember the originals, you might be outta luck. =(

OP fixed.
Are you using the same codes you had before? The code is a security system for SE, to make sure people aren't giving out their CDs to be used again, so this might be your problem.
I may not be right, but that's what I got out of it ^^;;;
EDIT: Apparently this is your problem (I just now read the other responses). Sorry, you'll have to buy a new copy >< If you are on PC, I suggest buying the Vana'diel Collection, it's all three games and about 99% (maybe 98% now after the recent update) of all the updates that have happened =)

Sorry, I don't have a link: I went straight to the horses mouth to get a definitive answer from the SE Support Live Chat. If you go there and chat with one of the rep's, they will tell you the same ^^.
