As you probably know, the latest update added an NPC that can hold your event-related items. From the update details:

"A new option allowing adventurers to store equipment and furnishings obtained from special events has been introduced. Conditions are as follows:

-Special equipment and furnishings of both normal and high quality may be stored. It is not possible to trade several of these items at once, however.
-A key item for proof of storage will not be provided for stored special event items. It is possible to check which items have been stored by speaking with the NPC.
-A fee of 500 gil must be paid to retrieve stored items.
-Enchanted items will be set to the maximum recast time when retrieved from storage.
-Enchanted items with a limited number of uses cannot be stored.
-Only yukata specific to the character’s gender can be stored."

According to the above limitations, there are several items that should be able to be stored, but cannot. They are as follows:

Bronze Moogle Belt
Silver Moogle Belt
Gold Moogle Belt
Rabbit Belt
Mandragora Belt
Worm Belt
Red Sash
Dash Sash
Fortune Egg
Happy Egg

I have submitted this list to Square-Enix via the Comments & Suggestions e-mail form, and requested that the Event Storage NPC be updated to accept these items. If you are of a similar opinion, please submit a request to Square-Enix by browsing to https://secure.playonline.com/supportus/exmf.html and selecting "Comments & Suggestions".

If you talk to the NPC about what kinds of items he/she/(it?) accepts, it only accepts furnishings, head armor, body armor and leg armor. Hopefully they will soon support waist armor. I also noticed that it doesnt accept Trick staff II. But it does accept Treat staff II (or was it the other way around...?).

From the POL site, before the update:

Quote:
A new option allowing adventurers to store equipment and furnishings obtained from special events will be introduced in the October version update. Storable equipment will be limited to those items that are displayed on a character when equipped. Adventurers will be able to store both normal and high-quality items, but will not receive a key item in exchange as in other equipment storage services.
Look for this new service in the upcoming version update

That's why belts and eggs can't be stored. Although they didn't mention it in the update summary, they did post it on the site previously and it's still up there.

What is the point in making it so that you can only store items that are displayed on a character while wearing it? It makes no sense whatsoever ;_;

Regardless, I think we would like to see those items storable. I've made my suggestion on the referred URL. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Rate-up.

That's because they don't have a way to keep track of the remaining charges on it.

I'd like all these new rare/ex armor/weapon pieces to be stored too.... Maybe I'm asking too much, but I'd like to store my Gassan and Wing Pendant when I'm not leveling NIN, and the Empress Pin Bounding Boots, etc.

I think what they mean is items that can be stored are only ones that you see when you equip them, like legs, feet, head, body, gloves, weapons etc.

Items that can't be stored would be like earrings, rings, ammo, belts, neck armor, things that when you equip them, you can't see them on your character. Not that you have to be wearing it when you talk to the NPC ^^

What I would like to see is a special peice of furniture that can store all the holliday stuff like the xmas trees. Give it 100 slots, but only allow it to store the event stuff.

I like that idea a lot. It would be nice to have an easy way to swap out event furniture to decorate our Mog Houses accordingly for each holiday without having to run back and forth to an NPC.
Kind of like that box in the attic or basement that a lot of people have that they drag out every so often to decorate their homes irl.

To be honest, this is kind of what I thought they were going to do.

Make it some cool furnishing like "Display Case" or something and allow us to chuck all our rare/ex stuff in there. Hell, make it an ugly duct-taped carboard box with "Holiday Deco" written on it for all I care. As more and more new items are introduced as rare/ex, and as people take second and third jobs to 75, and since we now need to have level capped gear for a lot of things, the storage problem will only get worse. I appreciate that they seem to be trying to address this though.

Part of the reasoning S-E might of used was that people may hold on to equipment that is not visible because of the stats that equipment has. In your example, people keep their eggs because they like the hp+1% or mp+1% stats on it, whereas someone keeping a trick staff is likely to do so because they like having a staff with a bat on the end. :3

I know costume belts are included in that logic, but anyway...

I have a considerable amount of free space now and my mog house doesn't look like it's decorated for Christmas & Easter at the same time anymore, so I'm happy for now.
