When I was on earlier 4 or 5 people were spamming lower jeuno trying to sell the Kraken Club.

Then I see this among the new items..

Quote:
mercurial kris
DMG:8 Delay:192
Occasionally attacks 2 to 3 times
Lv 50 WAR, THF, PLD, DRK, BRD, RNG, SAM, NIN, DRG

Square gave Rangers and Thieves an A or B rated multi-hit weapon, most of the jobs that drool the most over the K-Club just got somthing a lot better. Makes sense now ^^

I dunno...doing 2-8 attacks in one hit sounds a whole lot better than 2-3.

The title confused me, heh heh, but anyway, thats kinda cool. I don't have anything over lv 37 and under lv 69 but i might get a pair just for fun 'cause never in my life will i be able to afford a pair of kraken clubs...

on a side note.. i find the new equipment a little overwhelming, i'd like to try em all but i never get to before theres another version update >_<

Kraken is tripe if you don't have en-spell anyways.

Not when you're E rated in club and A or B rated in dagger. Most hits with a Kraken Club are going to miss, and of those that do actually hit a lot will be for 0 because E rated means poor ACC *and* attack. It only works as an offhand weapon because it spams hits nonstop. Even if most of the hits miss it hits so much that you have a net TP gain anyway. Almost all hits with a mercurial kris are going to hit if you are a THF or RNG and because you're either A or B rated they will hit for more than 0.

Multi hit weapons are for offhand TP gain not for damage(at least not directly). A THF with a kraken club offhand can use a WS on every single Sneak Attack and Trick Attack. You can get over 100% TP in under 30 seconds. So you do the following:

TA/WS
(wait 30 seconds)
SA/WS
(wait 30 seconds)
TA/WS
(wait 30 seconds)
SA/WS

etc.

Yep, and the only catch is, the mob does a WS about every 15 seconds.

I have partied with someone with a K-club and it was a nightmare. TP moves all over the place, six people getting hammered so that one person can do more weaponskills. Not to mention all the effectiveness we lost because they whole party had to sub nin or we wouldn't even have been able to chain.

I was indifferent to the K-club before I saw it in action. Now that I've seen it, I think it is one of the worst weapons out there. It's for skilling up club, and messing around with your friends, and that's about it. Anything that reduces the hype around this ridiculous weapon is a good thing.

8 Dmg without the added proc of an Enspell = Worthless.

Even in the offhand. The only time a Kraken club is worthwhile is in the hands of a RDM that knows how to use enspells, then its devistating. RDM/NIN with Subtle Blow + Joyeuse + Kraken Club + Enspell. Now toss on CoP ring to enhance dual wield and subtle blow + Suppanomimi to enhance dual wield again, and its a great thing, worth millions.

Any other job, worthless unless your playing around or skilling up club.

Assume the first one skill chains with one of the other melees, the second one skill chains with another melee. Imagine if you have two theives with kraken clubs. Thats a skill chain plus magic burst EVERY 30 seconds. Whats not to like about that. With a sam, that means every 3 minutes, your insured a skill chain, plus when the sam gets tp normally, you have tp to skill chain, plus when your nin tank is ready for one, another skill chain. Imagine how much hate all those trick attacks put on the tank. It sounds to me like your party just sucked, except for your well equiped thf.

Spoken like a person trying to justify his Kraken Club.

Kraken's are nice in PvP, EXP parties against mobs without deadly TP attacks and some nm's. Against Dynamis Lord, the Wyrms, the Kings, any exp party fighting nasty mobs or such, it will lead to massive and I mean massive TP spam and the death of all around you but hey, you can look cool, shortly before getting tossed from your HNMLS, party or whatnot.

Don't forget, all those "0's" won't get you any more skill ups too, so you won't be raising skill like you used to.

Well as they said, with 1 kraken => 15 sec for mob to do TP move. 2 THFs with kraken would probably mean 8 seconds for a mob to do TP move.

Now assume this is a goblin, he will have suicided within 30 seconds with all those bomb tosses.

I checked your profile (55rdm), have you even ever seen a Kraken Club in action? And no, watching a video of it doesn't count. Let me let you in on a little secret in high level parties. One skillchain kills the mob, if you even bother doing them.

by 55 the mobs your fighting aren't showing the kind of devistating TP moves yet.

Try Gobs in Bibiki.

MANY a one hit kill from gobs dropping bombs there, no matter who you are.

Only one correction tho :

Don't forget, all those "0's" won't get you any more skill ups too, so you won't be raising skill like you used to.

hitting for 0 will still proc skillups. Many a time taking a ceremonial dagger out for dagger skillups is the best option. 0 dmg, low delay, you can skill up on the same mob forever.

Should you be worrying about Skillups in a party? No! Your here for XP, be the most effective you can be, not maxing our your skills. Thats what Skillup parties are for.
