You can only get one new pearl a RL Japanese day..........


So, from midnight Japanese time to Japanese midnight time (24 hours), you can drop one pearl and get another, no more. I think midnight there is 10am cst?

So, try this if its after Jpn midnight and you haven't used your npc yet:

1. Go out somewhere and level your npc.
2. Drop the pearl.
3. Go to RP and talk to npc and get a new pearl.
4. Go out somewhere and level your npc again. Keep pearl.
5. Go do somthing else cause your done with leveling npc.
6. Repeat after jpn midnight.



Does this sound correct? From what I've read this is the only thing that seems to make sense.

They reset fishing fatigue at this time too.

I actually just started using my NPC today, due to my redoing a quest for a better looking NPC ;>.> Anyway, here's what I got:

NPC: Deulmaeux >> Male Elvaan Face7b

Day 1: I was testing out my NPC in La Theine Plateau just to see what it could do. Figured it would be fun lvling up my WAR a bit.

My NPC and I (11WAR/5THF) go out and take on mostly DC mobs and a few T here and there. I decide that I would provoke first get down to about half health in the battles, then let me NPC take on the voking job until he was about half and we healed. (Which worked out pretty nicely, I think)

I go back to the RP and have a look at him. He's wearing what looks to be lvl 20 Trader's/Baron's body! I learn of the 'pearl drop' trick, and go back out for a second run. This time I am now 12WAR/6THF. We take on mostly DC because I'm having a hard time finding EM (which were cake walks, to be completely honest) and he leaves after about a half hour saying the same thing.

I go back to the RP and he's now got the Trader's/Baron's hands and feet! (still the same legs though ^^;) All in all, I myself gained about 1,600exp.

Day 2: As it turns out, this is techincally Day 3 of my having a NPC, but Day 2 of my using him. I tried the drop your pearl once per Vana week trick, and ended up loosing my pearl until 11am this morning. Anyway, I get my pearl back and I also see the option to change jobs. Woot! So, I change to Deulmaeux to 'attacker' and head out to Batallia and take on all the gobs, tigers, and evil weapons I can find.

I fight for 14 battles then the half hour mark passes and my NPC needs to leave again. So, I'll have to see what happens tomorrow. No lvl as of yet.

Perhaps I'll go to Altepa with DRG and have my NPC do the 'healer' type. Would be curious to see if he could lvl there a little more quickly.

"A fruitful day. I think we have reached our quota. I take my leave of you."
I do find it rather cute that my Male Elvaan is quite formal and polite.

I don't think the armor changing has anything to do with "downgrading" or "class fitting". I changed mine to a healer type and she went from Platemail to Mythril after a full quota run in Rolanberry Fields. I suspect it's merely a aesthetic change, or armor progression is just handled differently in NPC terms. My NPC has worn scale, lizard, back to scale, platemail, then mythril, in that order, and she still hasn't leveled yet. Obviously they don't follow the same rules that we do.

I'd just like to confirm that NPCs seem to disappear after a set amount of fights, not an amount of EXP; I went out to level them with a friend today and they dismissed after the same mob both times.

I don't know whether this changes or not as you take your NPC out more or whatnot, but it seems that the quota is set at fifteen battles.

I read the entire thread before taking her out on a second run, taking the time and counting number of battles.
28 minutes, 15 battles.
Third time, I didn't bother with the time.
15 battles.

So, there's your quota. He/She'll fight with you for 15 battles--that's why it varies so much. Some people can blaze through the monsters like butter, others have to hack through.

((For the record, both runs were in Batallia Downs))

My Khuma doesn't seem to be following any of the standards that the rest of you seemed to have noted. The first day my boyfriend and I took our npcs out to Altepa and killed beetles and ants there. We killed a good number, nearly 40 minutes worth of battles, before I had to go afk for a few minutes. When I returned, both our npcs had left, at the same time. When I checked with her at the rendez(sp?) point, she had not changed armor. Two more days of fighting, no level, and no armor changes. No new options either. The second day she only stayed out for about 13 minutes before saying she'd had enough. Third day, she stayed for almost an hour. Also, poision sucks. ; ;

My NPC said something to the effect of "Wow, it's late" and depopped in the middle of a fight (against a DC goobbue. I died.) at exactly 45 minutes.

chadnick look at the front page... i updated it with a list of giveable weapons

if u get a new pearl from Meeting spot each morning at 11 a.m eastern time, Do not ,after usin it.do not drop it,if u do u have to wait till 11a.m next day to get another ]..So the 11a.m pearl u get from meet spot use at 11;30 am...then keep that pearl till about 8am next day,at that time use same 11 am pearl again at 830 am....use it then drop at 9;30 am....go to meeting spot and get new 930am pearl and use it and drop it by 10:59eastern time a.m



so at 11am u have no pearl....get new 11am pearl from meeting spot.......use same process as above

this is to use pearl 3 times in 24 hours 1=1130a.m keep it[then} 20 hrs 2=830a.m use/ drop 3=930a.m[use/drop


using 11a.m. meeting spot pearl and then dropping it thinking u will get 1 mo from npc is a mistake[u will get caught in a 1 use per day cycle if u drop 11a.m pearl] remember the npc only gives one pearl per day but it resets the npc once 20 hr timer resets at 8am so u then can get another from npc


hope this not too confusing...just read it 3 or 4 times and u will understand

For the weapons listing I am guessing that after a certain number of days using a weapon type you can trade a higher level version of that same type. New trade possibilites should prob take that into account.

Tried something new.

Went with a buddy of mine, we are both level 75.

We went to Althepa desert and fought everything there.

Both our npc finially got to level 31, even though I had mine longer. (going to Qufim with my level 35 did not move things along).

Also, my friends npc left FIRST, a whole 3 fights before mine left.

I had my NPC at healer and he is less of a burden. He healed, stoneskin, and blinked himself. He even cast blindna on himself. I didnt have to heal him once he healed himself.
It was cute.

I think next we are going to Feyin and try things there as they are even tougher for us then is althepa.

u shd do this....at 11am go get pearl from npc......use it......and keep till tommrow at 8 am...this resets[tricks] yo npc into thinkin its 11am


once that 20 hr goes by, a new pearl spawns at npc meeting place
remeber that


if u dont wait on timer after use at 11am then u cant get new pearl at all till 11 am next day...wait on yo 20hr timer then a reset happens at npc house
