Greetings,

A few months ago I decided to give Everquest a try. I had played several MMO's prior to this, but for some reason I never tried one of the originals. I picked up the game and all of the available expansions at the time (Dragons of Norrath was the newest at the time) and, after an adjustment period, found myself enjoying the game very much.

The only problem I've run into is that, due to my incredibly late entry into the game, there is virtually no one to group with. I thoroughly enjoy the team based element of MMO's, hense my complete abandonment of WoW :).

I soloed my Cleric to 15, did some questing, traveled a bit, and sampled in crafting. I'd really love to get into a guild or a static to do some level grinding.

My toon is on Stromm. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can find a low level guild/static to join up with?

Pauladal caverns is really crowded but you should be able to find a group eventually. That is off of shadowhaven off of the nexus. or maybe you can still slug it out in kurns tower till 20ish not the greatest xp but being a cleric you'll own the undead there. you'll start to find groups in the 20's but most of the time you'll have to start one yourself. 30-50 is going to be pretty nice but once you hit 50 don't expect groups to form with out some work at it. 60+ smooth sailing.

Most of the population of everquest is high-end characters...60+. So a level 15 cleric is still a very low level character. Dont worry though. The reason most people are high end is because one they have been playing forever, and two, its pretty easy to get a character leveled up relitivly high in a short amount of time, you shoudn't have too much problem getting to 40 in the next couple of weeks of playing.

The problem your facing is that being a cleric, your not the best solo class out there. Go to paudal caverns at 15, untill things con LB to you, around 20 or so if i remember right. Then i would hit up maurs seru, and then DSP, dawn shroud peaks, then the Overthere. IF you just go to these zones, there will prolly be someone there PLing their alt toon or a group who already knew about the zones leveling there. I would get to 40 before i start worrying about not finding a group.

The new expansion Depths of Darkhallow was made just for a person in your situation it seems. The monster missions are available to anyone from 1 - 70. That is defintally where you will find the easiest group now days. I can log on, go to nek forest, /ooc LF MM no timer, and have an invite in less than 15 seconds, or start my own group and have it filled and ready in less than 5 min. I would defintally look into buying that expansion if you have not already. BUT, you dont play as your cleric with MM's so beware, your not learning how to play your class like that.

Im not on stormm server so i dont know about guilds on that server. look on eqrankings and other sites to find guilds on your server. /ooc when your in pok that your a low level player looking for a grouping guild. It shouldn't be too hard to find a guild, at the level, at all.

well i gotta get back to work, GL and dont get discouraged, this game isn't easy!

you did happen to pick the #1 most wanted group char though so it should be rather easy to find a group if one is already formed

Thank you all for replying so quickly. My toon's name is Mhenlo. At the moment my account is in hiatus until the end of November... extremely busy month for me. I'll be turning it back on on December 1st though. I figured I'd start this thread now as November seems to be slipping away rather quickly.

As for learning my profession, I've always selected a healing class in every MMO I've played. I'm not sure why but for some reason I gravitate towards being a healer (sometimes with an alt tanking class). On the few occasions I was able to get a group in Crushbone I found that the role of the Cleric in the game is rather universal to other healing classes in MMO's... probably since every other MMO is basically draws the fundamental gameplay elements from Everquest anyway. I'm sure that much like in other games the healer's role becomes extremely invovled and challenging, something I am very much looking forward to.

I'm looking forward to December so I can jump back into things. I'll make sure to grab the DoD expansion before I come back.

Stromm should be a one of the better servers for finding lower level players though I think right now they are shooing new players to Maelin Starpyre. I'm not sure on that.

Anyway this leads to one suggestion - make a new toon on whatever server is currently showing on the server select screen as the "new player preferred" server and check out the lower level population there.

Having a guild will help but as you mentioned it will be hard to find one that has an abundance of low level characters, though many in a family guild will have lower level alts that they're happy to pull out if asked.

You might try and coerce a friend or family member into playing the game too and you could then have someone to raise a toon up with...a duo at least gives you more options than soloing.

You may also want to start another toon yourself that is a soloable one (if you enjoy soloing) then for those times that you just can't find a group you have another option for playing. As the Prof mentioned a cleric is a great toon to find groups for but becomes increasingly difficult to solo as you get to higher levels.

Tips for finding players your levels:
- the lfg tool (you probably use this)
- you can type "/who all 20" or whatever level you want to find to bring up a list of all the level 20 characters logged in and what zone they are in - then head to the zone that seems to be busiest. Do the same for levels a couple above or below yours.
- make sure you add people you do find to play with to your friends list and don't hesitate to send them a tell next time you see them on.
- hang out in the busy zones. I know it may not seem too adventuresome to sit and kill bandits in PC but if you can get a group of people together there you can always suggest a different place to go.

Good Luck.
