I 2-box a shaman / necro. Lets say I'm down in the bottom of some dungeon somewhere messing around and a friend of mine wants to join me. Keep in mind that I never duel so I'm not sure about dueling rules.
Lets say my friend is in the zone, I invite him to group, /duel him. He nukes himself to death. (The real question is does he loose xp?). Then I have the necro summon the corpse and because I'm assuming that he didn't loose xp, my shaman could rez him with his aa rez thus saving me an ee. Now my friend is right next to me ready to join in on the fun and I didn't have to fight my way to get to him.
My spider senses tell me that he would loose xp because reguardless if he was dueling or not, the finishing blow was landed by himself.
I'm interested in any thoughts you may have on this.

I'd guess that he'd probably lose exp by killing himself as well. You could test it out with a low level toon to see.

had a guildie kill him self about 12 time to get back to lv 52 for a Vox raid this was several months ago before DoDH

he probably didnt actually med up and kill himself each time. I'm guessing he bridge jumped or whacked guards naked or something.
although, I am pretty sure you lose xp anyhow.

To not loose XP he needs to be killed by a PC and not to a DoT.
For you to summon is corpse, he needs to be live in the zone (needs to come back after he is killed).
Easiest way to do this is two friends that can nuke each other. Helps to take of your armor, etc first, to lower your resists.
