This falls in the Mine is bigger than yours bucket. about three weeks ago some one posted about building sistem you could easily 2 or 3 box. I put in my two cents about building. being way Cheaper and a better choice. Well should have stayed out cause now I have gone a done it. New system comming on line.
These are the upgrades I got for $900.00

1 ea AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor

2 ea CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory

2 ea MSI NX6800-TD128E Geforce 6800 128MB DDR PCI Express x16 Video Card

1 ea ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX

These add to my current drives and case should make all the lag disappear

have a nice day and wish me luck

I think you were refering to my post.

I went with a local company that built my system at wholesale cost.

ASUS VENTO 3600 - mid tower - ATX - green case

P4 3.2GHz 640 - 64 bit LGA775

ASUS AiLife Series P5WD2 Premium - Mainboard - ATX - i955x - lga775 socket - udma100, udma133, sata II (raid) - 2 x gigabit ethernet firewire - HD Audio 8c

2 - ASUS Extreme N7800GTX/2DHTV - Graphics adapter - GF 7800 GTX - PCI Express x16 - 256 MB GDDR3 SDRAM - DVI - VIVO (both video boards daisychained together)

2 - 200 GB HD's

2 - Corsair Value Select - Memory - 1 GB - DIMM 240-pin - DDR II - 667 MHz / PC2-5300 - CL 5

I am very happy. :D

Edited: I just wanted to add that it's nice to finally be able to play (2-box) with all character and effects turned on. EQ looks so different now.

Amd Athlon 64 3200 512 DDR400 ATI Radeon X700 256mb
1 Sata 160 gig HDD

Amd Athlon XP 2500 @ 2.2ghz 512 DDR400 Geforce 5200 128mb 2 30gig and 1 40 gig HDD.

The 64 was many times faster than i expected

those are my babies

spent about 625 for the 64 system not including the vid card so it was about 800

Eq still lags on PoK but is great everywhere elese I probably need to tweak the drivers settings. or maybe i need more memory not sure just yet

if running xp operating system, 512 ram don't cut it. xp is by it's self uses almost 200 of that ram or more.

get at least a gig and you will single box fine.

i run 2 gig ram and i can 3 box, and still have 500 ram free.

also a vid card with the 256 ram built in helps as well.

I love being an IT manager been testing burning in a new server for work. Quad Dell 3.2 Xeon, 8gig mem, Raid 5 ATI 9600 Video (my pesonal), sad part is my XP OS only supports a daul, found out the hard way Windows 2003 Server doesn't like game play at least at the user end. Had 4 accounts running before I started getting graphic issues. Had the processor monitior up and it looks like EQ or at least WinEQ will utilize daul processor modes 1st account was running on a single cpu, 2nd account went to the 2nd cpu, 3rd and 4th accounts looked like they were sharing both cpus. It was a fun test but I don't think I could afford the power bill to run a system like that at home.

Well.. I have an octo-processor P6 with a troglodyte of memory... I mean a terrabyte...

And it comes with a brazillian bytes of hard disk... (how many in a brazillian anyway ??)...

'Course the lights dim in the neighborhood when I start the liquid nitrogen cooling system, but that's a small price to pay, an I think it worth it.
