I was in a group last night, and things were starting to hit that point where the exp is flowing, but everybody is on auto-drive at the keyboard. So, to liven things up, one of the members used one of his veteran rewards to summon a Jester of Bristlebane. Has anybody else ever seen one of these?

They're hilarious! He tells jokes such as "Why is everybody so fascinated with the Sleeper? I've met the guy, and to tell the truth, he just lays there and snores." , "I used to work nights as an entertainer for Fennin Ro... then he fired me." and "If a baker has a sense of humor, does he make wry bread?"

He also shrinks the large races in the group, turns random people into minotaurs, and summons bread that, when consumed, has a chance to cast regen, and a chance to cast a DoT.

In short, I loved the little guy (even though, as an iksar, I was very tempted to eat him). If you're ever bored in a group, /veteranreward and summon up that Jester of Bristlebane. Garunteed to make the day more interesting.

They were funny for the first two days. Now they are more annoying, esp when he summons poison bread or wine to consume.

Once, when we were in Skyfire, Dotska got turned into a Wurm.

After we were done with the group, I had Dotska follow me (anon of course to hide his guild tag) as I 'trained' him to the zone.

There were a couple folks standing at the ent, I swing my club a couple times and he FD's. The folks at the ent starting cheering! Then he got back up!! OH NO!!! They zoned faster than anything I've ever seen :)

His jokes get repeated a lot and start getting old. SOE should implement new ones every other week or so to mix it up. In groups I have no problem with him (sometimes the shrinking and enlarging gets annoying). He's a big no no on raids.

I dont mind the jokes, it is when you are in a dungeon and he grows you or turns you into a Large model. Unless you got shrink, you have to zone to remove it.

He does heal you and give you regen bread. Seems Grarin's usually has poisened stuff though. Make sure you have someone who can cure poison before you try it. Its not life-threatening, but just plain annoying.

Also it is neat to see some of the models he turns you into. Just don't turn me into a Golem in The Hole, too big. Mandie looked great as a Hole Spirit though.

Jester is good for solo, handing out regen and healing. I dont usually subject my group to it unless they all don't mind.

Being shrunk in Sol Ro sucks. Hard enough to pull up and down those giant stairs without being midgetized Smiley: tongue

Plus, I never get changed into a cool model. Just shrunk or grown over and over...

I logged on to my dwarf paladin this weekend for the first time since December. I claimed my veteran rewards and promptly activated my Jester. I got a kick out of him, and he turned me into an ogre which was cool. I could see how he would get old after a while though.

while in the tutorial the other day, my husband found he had that and brought the jester out. it was an absolute riot to watch. Hes playing a dwarf and the jester was only knee high. The jester kept giving us wine and telling lame jokes. It was a great way for time to speed by

Im not a big fan on the Jester. I have never gotten anything from him but poison food and shrinks. Just seems like another object to cause lag. Granted he randomly might heal you, but its so unoften that it does not seem to really help anything.

We are using the Jester regularly during our LDoNs, although there are several reasons not to activate him:

- poisoned bread and wine (not really dangerous, but annoying)
- transformation of players into monsters during a fight is confusing and makes targeting more difficult (but not if you are using hotbuttons or F2-6)
- being transformed may be dangerous (I once was transformed into a Nightrage whatever in MMC, we had a bad pull, I was not able to leave the dungeon due to my size and died while crouching my way out)

Still the Jester is funny from time to time, especially when he got new jokes, and I got loads of screenshots of me and my party being monsters Smiley: laugh
