AA-Ranger-ArrowFollow

#1 Sep 27 2005 at 8:53 AM Rating: Decent
Sorry, cant find names in ALK AA list and am at work.

There are two AA's that add burning to a Ranger arrow and also one for Ice/Frost.

Are these worth the AA's for them. Have done all the other bow/arrow AA's. As I recall when last I looked, AA just said 'target is on fire for a short time' and doesn't say what amount of damage.

Don't want to waste AA's on these two arrow enhancements if no real damage.

I don't have them. But I hear from other rangers those AAs don't add enough damage worth getting.

you got your defensive AAs done?

I only know one ranger that bought those aa and he regretted it.

I did not buy those for my ranger. He is 66 with 80 some aa's

They made the Ranger into a melee class again later in life. I see Dod has some archery aa's but I'm not buying it. (Yes I have developed a tude over this last expansion)

The next expansion will have the account's xp all pooled into 1 pool and then you can allocate it all to a class and aa's everytime you log on and get all the spells for that class.....

Thanks, I had heard not worth it too but came here because usually get good replies.

I have AM3, EQ and finished the first part of the DOD Trick Shot which I find was worth it. Part II isnt till level 68 and imagine Part III will then be level 70 and some other things.

Have 87 used AAs so far and 3 sitting there until I decide what they will be used for and adding them, am 100% AA at the moment.

Did get the extra spell slot the other night. Really wanted that one.

Have problems finding level 65 spells that drop and the Gylphed Rune Words one (trying to talk others to join me in HOH to kill Rapid Wrulon since it is lowest mob that carries it). Povar Bazaar has none of the spells so far and have been looking for a bit. Hehe, there is one Sylvan Light and trader asking 30K and I rofl when I see the cost of the spell.

Have some Defensive AAs but have been also working on AA damage for my 2HS weapon because Yes, have tanked a bit lately.

Good idea then, will put more into defensive and even though have augs for defense and dex have wanted to pile more into those two and there are some great melee AAs.

I still don't understand why EQ developers hate the archer class.

edit: BoT mini bosses may drop runes.

Thanks and have no answer to your game question. We get lousy dots. I mean, there we are in basement in HOH and I have a 91 dmg dot for strongest one and strongest nuke is 600 and something. Now, I love being a Ranger, but now cannot solo the NE basement since the patch the Sentries cannot be snared or rooted. Can you picture one at full speed chasing me down as I run from one end to another getting off one shot now and then and trying to do damage as running my head off with my dots and nukes. At least before the patch, all were easy to snare and did solo down there.

Nukes? you can hardly call them nukes at this level. If can get runes get a new one and it does what? in 600 range as does the last one, I think.

Have a Nuke but it is for a Summoned Creature. Another 66 Ranger and were laughing. Here we get all the Summoned spells and to be honest not many targets out there.

We can do a lot of damage with bow, we can tank or at least asst. tank. We can heal a decent amount if need be and we can buff other.

It is a fun class, just wish SOE realized that we need a few goodies too.

My lvl 35 Nec can out DoT my lvl 65 ranger - kinda sad

The only thing I really have never liked is were supposed to be
the bow class but get a slashing epic... Woulda rather have gotten an awsome bow instead.

We were suppose to. Witness the silly sword is made by fletching. Continued ******** by the lame *** faction caused a last minute change.

/agree Fallon.. My question is this..Who do I see about getting all my archery AA's exchanged for melee instead?? A person starts playing EQ and picks a Ranger because it says he is the greatest of archers.. not knowing any different they see the little bow and quiver symbol of the class and pick Ranger actually believing they will become "Legolas" one day if they work hard enough and stick with it.

Flash forward 2 yrs, 70 levels and 200+ AA's later.. 225 days played time on this toon and now he has to abandon his original goal of being an archer. Struggled through 62 levels as melee to finally get to be an archer for a very few levels. Now to be the best that he can, he must bag the bow and go back to being melee. It was fun while it lasted to be wanted for groups and having earned some respect for dealing great damage. Now when he is lfg the question is asked "You arent a bow Ranger are you??"

The Ranger will always be my favorite but I guess it's time to shelve the guy because he is just out of place. It's very frustrating to be forced with this decision.

Cengar, that's exactly what I feel. I always play archers in most of fantasy RPGs, Baldur's Gate 1/2, Neverwinter Nights, Dungeon Seige, Ashon's Call 1/2, diablo 1/2 etc etc.

In all those games, rangers/archers always kicked butt, at least hold their own againt other damage dealer classes, but in Everquest, I must say ranger as an archery class sucks big time. We got 3 mins of frame, in SoL era; we have what, 10 expensions now? and only in 1.75 (SoL + most of PoP) expension era archery was a desirable method of damage output.

SoE hates archery for some unkown reason, I tell you.

I usually play Pallies but really have enjoyed being a Ranger However, am now putting my AA's into melee items. Which, in the long run, means I will be meleeing like my Pally. The only Ranger bow type AA that will continue with is Part II of Trick Shot and then Part III of TS. Have finished all other bow AA's except the two arrows I originally asked about here.

Other than that, everything else is geared to melee and defense. We sure aren't going to amaze anyone with our dots, nukes abilities, that is for sure.
