xp largess (not a rant I swear!)Follow

Been reading a few boards about the monster mission xp being out of whack and the subsequent fixes.

My questions are:

Do you really care if someone got 20, 50, or even 100 AA doing these missions or even sitting AFK while their pals were doing them?

And now that they *fixed* them, do you really care that you are NOT getting bo coup xp for a simple mission?

My feeling is, all the people I read about crying 'unfair' and 'rollback' are just jealous. So what if SOE miscalulated a few missions' xp and some 'lucky' people benefitted? It's not the first time, and I doubt it will be the last. Quit crying about it. Joeblowx has 50 extra AA, so what? How does that diminish YOUR game play?

(Just for the record, my windfall was 1AA and a few yellow of xp before they adjusted the xp and removed the WC mission)

I have no complaint about the exp they got unless it was in the beta test and the players keep it underwraps so they could exploit it when it went live. I have lost all faith in SOE Beta test program.

Hmmm, I think I heard some rant in that.

I got most of level 61 doing monster missions over two evenings. Because I spent no time getting my 61xp in PoP zones or spell dropping dungeons I find myself at 62 with none of my 62 spells and no extra plat to buy them. Smiley: frown

From what I heard from testers, the Griffon Mission was not in Beta.

It has been my experience that SOE uses beta to make sure there are no out-right crashes or nasty stuff like that. Actual fine-tuning is ALWAYS done on the live servers.

There is such worse stuff going on that would make peoples heads spin.

I agree, and have expressed my opinion on another thread.

Now this is interesting....

That validates my thoughts on the new expansion goodies that are placed in to generate a buzz, and in-turn, generate some sales, then are nerfed when either the sales figure has been met, or too many people are aware.

It has happened before, and will happen again.

Not a bad technique coming from a business stand point.

.. close it has always been sony's policy to give uber xp and item drops to entice people who havent already bought the expansion to do so.

I didnt get a chance to do the griffon missions but I did dozens of the warewolf missions. If you manipulated the process to avoid the timers the xp was insane. IF you sat and let the timer expire (which is what happened when the griffon mission depopped) the xp wasnt much better then certain camps in WoS for the amount of time it took to get it. There is still a mission in Corathus that gives 25% aa xp for 40 min work. It only takes 10 minutes to complete. IF there is a similar adventure out there people can avoid the timer by bouncing from one to another getting about 2aa every hour and a hlaf or so.

The biggest problem I see is that several of the missions weere impossible to fail. Then the "fixes" nerfed xp and made the missions very buggy, that is what should have been worked out in beta.

I have yet to explore many of the zones but I dont like the cartoonish nature of the mobs or all the idiotic robots. Everything about this expansion reminds me of WoW. Whats sad is this is one of the first things I encountered when I returned to eq.

as has been stated more than once on these boards, beta xp is ALWAYS doubled/tripled over normal xp, so no xp-outputs are tested.

Undocumented conspiracy theories do not belong here IMO. If you know of bugs/exploits, report them to SOE. This is one of the few relatively peaceful and informative boards left, I ask you kindly to help keeping it that way.

There are many worse problems that are neither undocumented nor a consipricy. Item duping, transferring No Drop items between toons, etc. etc. etc.

I look at it as an early XMas gift from Sony to people who bought the expansion early...

They gifted you with xp plus the gargoyle / roboboar thing
