What's the lowdown on cross-account transfers?Follow

Now, I've read the policy on ( https://store.station.sony.com/eq_char_item_moves/ ) and am wondering a few things that I'd rather hear from people with experience doing this.

I've been planning for a while now to transfer my character off of the current EQ account. I share the account, but I am not the name on the credit card--that is, I'm not paying for this account. I read on the eqlive page how it is a violation to transfer a character between two accounts owned by different cardholders (and the unsettling reference specifically to this act in the 3rd-to-last guildlines bullet). It would be my name on the card for the destination account.

Now, I see people in-game auctioning to trade characters across accounts in this way. And I want to say I know it's been done (the only hesitation being that I haven't actually seen it take place). My question is a vague one: could anyone with experience or knowledge--I don't like "welliheard".. see Sleeper page for examples--in this subject enlighten me as to what the "real" policy is.

That is, will Sony slack on actually tracking people who do this? How will they punish/do they really care, or is it like traffic laws... they exist, and will be punished, but likely you'll get away with them? I mean, we pay them a hefty price for the transfer. Don't hold back, even if a detail seems unimportant. The more details, the better.

Thanks.

Afterthought: I'm referring specifically to all-item-transfers, but if there is anything to note in Sony's action toward naked transfers different from the item one, that would be helpful too!

Who knows what sony will do currently they will not transfer characters in that manmer. They accounts you hear auctioned are in violation of the EULA, and most likely scams once the have access to your password what stopping them from raping the account call Sony and request a password change on the old account. If by any chance you are not the original owner of the account you traded they now have both accounts. Because you can not get the password changed.

-card holders- dont matter if you have the first and last four of cc. only registered name (which doesnt change with cc#) does.

All of the above are correct. If you see an account offered for sale in game it is a violation. I report them all the time.
Sony will not even allow a child to transfer a toon from the parents account. The teen in our household was told she had to get her own account and tried to transfer her druid over to it that was on her mothers account. Petition denied. Now I have heard a rumor that if sony likes you it may happen. Its just against their normal policy.

Basically start your new account with a new toon and transfer the items to it. Thats is why Jonwin has a gnome paladin foster brother named Winjon.

I have 2 accounts. This is what happened to me.

Put first account on new CC, (same email address etc also)waited till billing happened so it showed as a legitmate cc# and was billed to it.
opened account with Platnium version using came CC#
Requested Transfer,
Denied, need same expansions on both accounts
Added both expansions(before DoD) to second acount
Replied to Denied email stating expansions were added and would they reconsider
Transfer was approved
Put original account back on original CC# and Email address

All of this took less than three weeks from the start of the billing cycle.

I have transfered characters across accounts (both my own)with out a problem just have to read and meet the requirements. The accounts were on different CC # and Email addresses, they did ask the reason for this which I explained the first card expired, and I changed to broadband. I was asked to give my birthdate and the address were I was when I started the first account. FYI SONY was nice enough to give me my Veteran rewards on the second account to match the first :)
