I have been trying to setup a new station account so that I could log into Escape to Norrath (EtN).
I created the new account with a new email, new name and new password. I downloaded and installed the software with no glitches. When I get to log in after typing the new account name and password I am being told that I need a valid EQ subscription????????
I thought the whole point was so I could install this on my friend's system and let them experience EQ, maybe so they start understanding why I think it is so much fun and why it is so addictive?
What am I doing wrong?

Might want to post this on Sony's boards...or contact their Tech Support.
SOE wants you to give them a valid credit card number. It's the old "21 days free" and if you don't cancel account then we will start billing your credit card ploy.
It's my guess. Not sure if it's correct or whether there is just some hick-up on their side.

Well I cant post on Sony's board since I currently do not have an active subscription. I can however read on it and I have to no avail.
I have talked to tech support through the live chat option, but the answer they provided was for me to activate my subscription (If I had a subscription why would I want to download EtN? which is boasted to be free and not require credit card).
As far as the 21 days free and we start charging your card on day 22 ploy that would apply to their (EQ + Kunark + Velious) package.
Anyway, I appreciate the responses guys thanks for taking the time to post.

Did you activate your station account? Their (SOE) system is confusing. You can have a Station account without being subscribed to any of their games.
I can only guess you need to respond to an email after creating a new station account to activate it.

After 16 years, I'm not listing every friggin character.
Frankly I would love to see SoE bring back the "valid cc needed for trial" clause. Even if they cannot charge the card without your further permission.
