Three hours my asp! They knew good and godham well the servers would be down longer than three hours. Does anyone at Sony understand Project Management? It's a fine thing to have a bunch of geeks tearing into the servers to fix them (maybe they should get better ones) but for God's sake they need at least one person with some form of business degree to be able to make a rational judgment call. All too often (99.9% of the time) it's only about the bottom line--in Sony's case net gain. I'd like to see a freaking mission statement from them. Three hours? Rot in hell!
I think you should write an angry letter to the head of Sony demanding a refund for the $.06 you so rightly deserve!
Servers went down a 4am PDT, which to me is 7am EDT...It's just 10:20, just a little over 3 hours. Sometimes problems which originally seems small take a little longer to fix...or even unexpected problems can occur while you are fixing something.

aye take a break bud breath inhail exhail remain calm it's not the end of the world if the patch takes longer then expected its a game just sit down watch tv read a book clean the house do somthing besides complain cause no body wants to deal with your bs thank you very much have a nice day /wave.......

How long does it take you to change a flat tire? Now lets assume 1 or 2 of the lug nuts are frozen and doesn't want to break free, you going to do it in the same amount of time. Every prediction is a best guess as long as everything goes according to plan and in RL very few things go according to plan.

Here's a word of advice: never skip work/school on a new expansion release just to see the new stuff first. It'll be down most of the day anyways, regardless of their "estimated downtime".

Anyone that entered an instance on FV was booted and told they could not log in for "Technical Reasons, please /petition from another character". Nice.. when you only get one.
I had the one of my four accounts that was not camped in the instanced Guild Hall write a /petition for the other three.
As of 10:30am Pacific today I (and most of my friends) still cannot log in, and my /petition was deleted without comment. Yay me.
WTB transfer. Hell, if more than 50 people played on Stormhammer, I would go there and just pay the money. I mean, every patch is something because of the special coding and the complete lack of testing for it.

Why would EQ players DDoS the FFXI servers? It keeps all you retarded 10 year olds out of our game.

and on a side note the DDoS attacks are from a annoymus 3rd party user. not that any of u guys could DDoS attack our servers anyway but for all those who wanna come find me to see if i can back up my talk im on fenrir server see ya in ballista ~_^

Didn't you just say that you didn't like EQ because we "MPK" (which I think is player killing, but I'm not sure) noobs? Yet, you're telling us to come to your FFXI server so you can do exactly that to us? Yeeeaahhhh. Also, I doubt many people would be willing to pay money to buy the game, then the subscription, so that we can go be stalked by a dirty sock.
I now have 3 theories on the new sock:
1. One of us, playing the part for the entertainment value.
2. Some FFXI player got burned in the Asylum by someone that plays EQ (I guess that must be you Joph, damn you!) and thinks he can hurt our feelings by coming here.
3. One of our old friends (LadyP maybe? or that guy that got banned last week? Dfrenchman or something...) thinks they can start drama if they try and start a FFXI vs EQ war. If that's the case... their in for a bit of a disappointment I think. Most of us are too damn old and crotchety (I said crotch, huh huh) to really care that much.
