As originally posted here,I give this quote:

Quote:
I really really don't like events. I play on Maelin Starpyre and the last GM event we had was this total BS thing where a 'Ward of Ro' asked us to bring him 10 items from a long long list of foodstuffs for a banquet they were going to have. The problems were these.

1) The items were all dropable so basically it was just a run from lavastorm to the bazaar and back.

2) The only way to get the items other than the bazaar was to farm them from extremely obscure camps which wouldnt be a problem i kinda like a good scavenger hunt but...

3) WE ONLY HAD ONE HOUR TO DO ALL THIS. One hour is NOTHING in eq! In fact i spent most of the hour just trying to zone into the places where we had to be! By the time i had gotten two of the ten items 35-50 minutes had already gone by.

FYI, that post was created "Sun, Sep 4th 9:22 PM 2005"

RANT ON.

This event ran on Cazic Thule last night, Thursday, September 8th, 2005.

Less than 4 minutes after it began, I kid you not, there was a person turning in all 10 items on my server.

This can ONLY lead me to belive one thing:

Whoever did the turn in was on another server, and had witnessed the event/list beforehand, copied it down, gained all items on MY server, and was pretty much ready to go before the event even started.

Their prize was not a Ceramic Incense Burner of Ro.

No, they got a title added to their name.

I was doing this event with a friend, and I was on as my druid, a fairly nice advantage for me, because I was able to port to the locations I thought the drops would drop in.

After 30 minutes of hunting, between the 2 of us, killing fast, we had gained a single drop, which was foraged.

I don't want a single flame aimed back at me about being a "sore loser." I could care less about the final prizes, or having a title added to my name.

My problem comes in where, once again, SOE screwed up. BIG time.

Run the SAME event. Fine. Say the same words you said at all previous events.

BUT CHANGE THE LIST AROUND! MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN "ILLEGALLY."

Secondly, it was **NOT** the hour they had promised. It went from a 20 minute countdown, to 10 minutes, to 2 minutes in the course of about 4 minutes. We had about a total of 40 minutes to zone out of Lavastorm, collect the drops, zone back in, and turn in.

Thank you, SOE, for ******** up yet ANOTHER thing that could have been pretty cool, if you had done it CORRECTLY, and not given the opportunity out for thousands of people to cheat.

Rant OFF.

Yea we had this problem on fennin ro when the riddler showed up. Soon as he showed up somebody ran over there and had the answers hotkeyed. The GM finnally after 3 wins told that person to leave, but another showed up doing the same thing.

I actually talked to an old GM about this. Basically he stated that SOE limited GM's and their capabilities to run unique and fun events and are now limited to what they are given.

GM's were nerfed. Smiley: disappointed
