Nektulos Forest?Follow

Forest no, canyon yes. Guess the programmers were too busy not fixing bugs, broken quests,Nobles's Lag, and line of site issues on flat surfaces to make Nektulos Forest into a forest instead of a canyon maze. Glad they were able to borrow the orc design from WoW. Overall a very disappointing revamp.

That's assuming WoW's orcs are original. A human's a human. An orc is an orc. And a MiG/MAPO 1.42 MFI is a MiG/MAPO 1.42 MFI.

For the record, they've been working on a revamped Nek Forest for ages. They announced it when Lavastorm v2.0 went live.

I couldn't care less about the orcs. I'm still upset about the God-awful tutorial kobolds.

I'd point out that the original Nek forest was rather open for a forest as well. This was especially true around Neriak and the river crossing.

Be glad its not like the one from Everquest 2. In eq2 they should call it Nektulos maze. It sucked.

Actually I liked the design of EQ2 Nek Forest. Real spooky and dangerous. Felt a lot like Kithicor at night.

Technically, as an imaginary race, the writer/designer can describe orcs pretty much any way they want. You'll note that the WoW design, the EQ design, and the LoTR designs are entirely different, and if you delve deeper into the myths surrounding them you'll find very different descriptions.

You can say the same thing about humans or anything for that mattter. My statement still stands.

So as far as I can tell, the Greater Wisps, that you have to kill in the Wispglow Earring quest....are nowhere to be found. I love it when they make changes like this, and don't consider the effect it has on past content.

Anyone know about this or where they might have gone?

On Greater wisp, I found them "coming from EC" to the left of the entrance to EC.

Imaginary has nothing to do with it. You should see the abomination that FFXI passes off as a rabbit Smiley: eek

King and Queen are there. Anyone try to pry info out of them? I am apprehensive (DE Agnostic Enchanter) to both, and all I get out of the queen is she is working for Lanys now and wants her hubby to buy the farm. King lies there 'appears unconscious'. There is also a green-con no-labeled mob next to him on the tree stump. Any idea what faction (other than the obvious) they are on?

Is this all part of the next expansion bit and not set up yet or is there some more interaction?

Tryed to zone into the new area only to get bounced back as expected.

As far as I'm concerned my favorite newb zone has now been ruined. All of the old mobs are all lumped together in the same spot... half of them running into the river. The halflings are gone, so unless they are put back in some of the older quests won't work. The zone is way to small. those impassible hedges are annoying and creating a bunch of wasted space. I don't mind the new graphics, that's always fun to see, but I wish Sony would stop ruining the old content in the game. Adding new stuff in... sure I'm all for it. but now the older quests are going to be almost impossible to do.

i agree with you firestarr. i have a 10 def rogue in the tutorial and i wanted to do the old school noob armor quests with her. its too hard to get a group to do the group tasks. but without halflings and the scarcity of halfling skeles, i don't think it will be possible.
another area sony has messed up is faction. the haflings on the south bank were one of the only easy ways to raise dreadguard outer faction. now they're gone, so i guess my mage will probably stay kos to the guards in nek and the neriak fq. Smiley: cry

edit: shouldn't post while drunk

I used to zone in, face just the right degree, head to Lava, now I get to use maps, and it doesn't seem to me to look better. Textures are funny or something.

I agree with dfrnchman and with Kajolus especially:

UNQUOTE

I recall running my Ogre Knight over to Qeynos to work at becoming a warrior. The only part I was really sweating bullets over was the very well known path my Paladin had run dozens of times. Just knowing the Owlbears were out in force and having to weave around, and the always-aggro-everything Fire Bats would be up was a definite hindrance to a nice stroll my 46 Paladin often did. And I did bring a train of mobs with me to the docks and clicked over to TS with about 20% health left. And Nek forest in EQ2 is almost monochrome Grey, with small gradations in greyness. Mobs blend very well, and it is a MUCH more spooky place than EQ is, let alone comparing it to EQ’s Kithikor.

The new nek is now set up to be a closer reflection of what the future nek will become after the Cataclysm. What I thought was funny is the book area is now the newbie area. All the 35+ players zoning in on their way to LS, only to get hit up with “can you buff me please?”. No w THAT makes Nek a really scary place…………

Maybe it was just me bein mental but inside Neriak, seemed a bit different too, could just be I hadnt been in like forever.

I didnt do a lot of explorin outside me home town, What I did see I liked, I also liked that it was super close to neriak now.

I will probably have more oppinions as I do more in it but for now it is one of the better redesigns they have done.

I would still like to kick them for Splitpaw/MM/ and skyshrine revamps, sure I could think of more but =)
