Afternoon everyone,
Getting close to level 50 and my enchanter's (my main toon) gear is horribly outdated. Most of the stuff I have was purchased cheap in the bazaar. I do have an earring of the soltice that I quested and most of my other stuff was cheap Intelligence gear with a minor in Charisma.
I have about 3000 Plat and can easily get more from farming my new super secret location that I have been hunting (rhymes with mole)! However I need guidance since I am horribly lost when I search the bazaar for stuff. Heck, I bought a stupid item that I though looked great only to find out that I worshiped the wrong deity or any deity for that matter.
Please advise!

My main is a Nec, also utilizing Int gear.
My suggestion would be to focus on maxing your Int.
Maxing ones Int is far easier then say Sta, or Str.
There are a lot of really nice pieces of gear out there that are reasonably priced with high Int.
When searching the Baz, search based on Race / Class / Int / and check for (all) items.
Order them based on highest Int.
You will likely get more hits then the list can hold, so you can also search based on your lowest end piece of gear, i.e. lowest Int items.
So then you would be searching, race / class / int / (insert slot here)
I had my Nec's Int maxed very easily, with about now 30 int passed the cap with augs etc.
Every level I attain, and get the max cap increased, I am already maxed again...really helpful to the old mana pool.
After you have maxed your int, it might be good to focus on sta / agi / ac.
Sta for the Hp's on them there failed mezz's.
Agi to avoid the hits,
Ac to lessen the dmg.
That's my 2 cents.

ack. I don't have a magelo (sniff). Guess I need to start working on that.
Most stuff pertains to Drakehide leggings, ring of frost, +8 int robe with some resists (robe of the ellispe?), shiny mask, earring of soltice, charisma stein, ....

you might want to check out DoN crafted armor. my 46 mage om stromm wears expert's robes and leggings. wasn't able to find anything else better in my price range. Int is good, raw hp's are always good for casters, though, as a chanter, i think you would want some boosts to charisma, right?

Foci like mana preservation, spell haste, etc is also nice. But like I said we need a magelo to know what we're working with.
I am due for upgrades myself. The Master's DoN gear (level 55 required) is pretty good but pricey if you can't make it yourself.

Some of the stuff is Expert's DoN, some of it is the FV storyline drops and what not. I like the Drachnid Thyxl (extended range is very nice) which you could probably get yourself now in DL (I got it at level 20ish lucky me).
Murkglider cape or Kiki's Recipe book for Mana Pres III is very helpful. Enchanters do not rely too much on DD or DoTs so those foci are not that important. Spell haste is very important. I just have the Spell Haste II mask, so I need III myself.

When charming, I use the 50 Cha coin in range and doll in primary.
Extended enhancement focus is something else to consider. Many of our Mind enhancement spells have somewhat short durations.

The quests in Lavastorm which resulted in the 4 items were taken out the day that Dragons of Norrath went live. Too bad, great items. They can usually be found pretty cheap in the bazaar, though.

this isn't true. I still do these quest to sell the items for quick cash. did it several time this week actually. there were other quests, "activating the mechaminers" or something, that were only around for a little while.

That's weird, I tried to do the pick quest the other day and the gnome wouldn't take the picks, I gave them to him and he just gave them back saying he had no use for these right now. Curiouser and curiouser.
Edit: Yep, that would be me trying to use the brain cells the bleach killed...exactly what I did is try to give them to the guy in LS. Thanks for pointing that out to me!

Who did you try to give the picks to? welnik doesn't take the picks, u give them to a gnome in steamfont who gives u a "bundle of picks" or something like that, which u then give to welnik.
edit: lol, gotta watch out for that bleach! i prefer draino personally.

I went for robe of tempest(though I was a wizard) but it is still not a bad robe(nice stats great focus.......) go for HP/mana/Focus items first Kikis recipe book would be a great item to go for!!(Your first thing should be a mana pres 3 item..and kikis works for ya....hella easy quest the camps in Natimibi are easy) EE items will also be nice(i'll get a list for you shortly I'll have to look up chanter focus items at your level but it wont be hard =) ) HP HP HP HP HP HP MANA MANA MANA MANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! those are the most important things to you so go for those items =p(personally I have always favored HP over mana...........you extra mana wont mean squat when you are dead.......=p)
