Quick rant...

The devs must have forgot to put something in this mission because I don't see how normal groups could ever finish without finding the trick on the internet.

The idea is you have to track the boss mob's whereabouts to make him spawn. You go to 20 individual locations in order and get emotes that indicate the boss was there but moved on. Basically you are one step behind the boss until you get all the emotes, when the idea is you caught up to him and can kill him.

The problem is that the emotes all say the same thing - basically "he was here, keep looking".

There is no indication whatsoever about where else to look next. You would think running around randomly might help, but the trigger spots are so narrow you have to be right on it to get the emote.

We cleared the entire zone of all mobs and all ran around the empty zone for about 40 minutes until one of our group members looked the mission up on the internet.

I'll say that the zone, Stillmoon Temple, is stunning. The mobs are very well made too. So, up until we cleared the zone it was a very fun and exciting time.

The zone and mobs were so good that the nearly impossible puzzle makes me think someone forgot something when releasing the mission.

I agree. Being the one who looked up the mission and got it done, I find it irritating and rather thoughtless that such a process needs to be done with no reliable way of completing without using special "tricks". Not that I was cheating, but having to follow Jaboner around and watching him when set to "guard here" is pretty weak.

LOL I hated that mission. Our group ran around forever as well. We finally had to log because it was getting late. The worst part is once you clear the zone there's nothing to fight or do except running around cluelessly.

Stillmoon is a nice zone. I like that one and Thundercrest. There's a statue mission in Stillmoon that's pretty fun.

If you ever need help send me a tell. I would love to tag along.

This mission is annoying and also the emotes reset if u take too long. I can't think of a mission I like less than this one.

The first people who did the mission did not use any tricks and did not look on the Internet. Spoiler sites are not necessary to play Everquest.

You're assuming this misssion was every completed. Smiley: laugh

JK

After our group spent 3 hours of running around looking for clues we checked the internet. Guess what we found? A group that did finish but also ran around aimlessly for 3 hours. They just happened to get the named to spawn. How did they do it? They didn't exactly know. 3 hours of running around in a small zone completely cleared of mobs sure sounds like fun doesn't it? I agree that the fun is in the journey. But when the journey isn't fun than it's a problem.

The 'trigger spot/pet guard' thing was done before. Anyone ever hunt for Tanik Greskil for the 4th coldain shawl? (I still have flashbacks about Kromriff Death Squads)

Why not use two pets (or one twice) and triangulate the spot you need to find on the map?

I agree that there should have been a clue to it in the task stage text if the designers intended for it to be solved that way though.

If they rephrase the mission objective then maybe this whole thing with the pets would make more sense.

All the mission says is kill enough guards and you'll stir the bad guy. Next it says to look for clues to find his lair then cause enough commotion to make him appear.

The funny thing is we guessed right where he would spawn. We got an emote outside his room. So, we went in his room, killed the mobs in there, and hailed and shouted and jumped up and down. I don't know how much more commotion we could have made.

But I guess since we got the emote out of order then it didn't really count. Had we even known we got the emote out of order that would have been something, but all the emotes say the same thing so for all we knew we were in the right place (which as it turns out, we were).

Yes, I'm thinking this might be worth sending a note to SOE about. It would take only a small change to make it a really great mission.

The zone is good, the mobs are good, the boss mob is great.......just gotta be able to make it spawn.
