Had a great weekend playing EQ1!!! Concentrated on getting enchanter as much play time as possible.

Dinged 48 and 49!!! This is my highest toon ever in EQ1.

Got some good group exp in Echo caverns @ the undead slave camp. Killed a bunch of named mobs (taskmaster somone and a large bug) over and over again. Was great fun!

Then got a message to try out Acrylia Caverns (level 48 message). Got new pet, got buffs, and headed to AC. I nearly got slaughtered on the first mob I pulled (grimling caster). Zoned and gated back to POK wondering where to go from there.

Decided to try out Dulak for the first time. Great zone for single pulls. Soloed to level 49 and decided to call it a weekend! I love the new zones that I can now enter without get creamated by the local mobs!

Well, this isn't a big deal for most of you, but, my wife and I finally managed to finish a LDoN this weekend. Actually, we did three of them - North Ro - with our mid level group. This consists of a 45 Cleric (me), a 47 Pally(me), a 48 Cleric (wife), and a 48 Warrior (wife). I don't know what we did different, but it felt great to finally complete what the rest of the folks in the game do daily, or, atleast used to do daily.

The last time we took our high level group into an adventure we got slaughtered at the zone in.

Bub, did EQ2 play with your brain? Smiley: grin just a few posts below was a weekend update already. ah yeah, it wasn't namend weekend update, but hey, we can cope, right? Smiley: wink2

here comes mine (not that its interesting, but still) - copy/paste from here

----------------------
knowing, that you US guys are still partying, whereas for us guys the WE is over...

Fri: grouped and soloed (quad kiting is so much fun, but dangerous icon. got enough turtle meat for kikis recipe book. but, more astonishing...after being in natimbi for maybe 2 hours, this one here dropped while quadding - Talisman of the Spiritseer - awesome... my best self earned item ever. iconiconicon

Sat: instanced unrest with guildies (first time grouping with them, frikkin timezones thingie...). exp was very good, puller did great.
group was
1 war
1 Cl
2 wizs
2 Necros
hehe, them mobs dropped fast...

I made one mistake, where I snared and got aggro from one of the mobs. survived though... oh yes, whereas my evac later came in just in time...did 2 more LDON's...and yes, we should have picked hard. went through them (had a great bard pulling!) within 30 mins each. so I only need 3 more LDONs for ward of calrena..

Sun: Soloed natimbi at the shore, dinged 55. died, delevelled, got uncalled rez from a helpful cleric (thanks again)), ding again. went to PoJ basement (first time ever). the 65 beastie soloed down there...well, around 80% of my nukes sticked. if they failed I used lures. some of the named ones from the siderooms look frikin awesome! got around 800 pp in cash after maybe 90 mins. not bad, for a threesome group.

then we went to PoH (again, first time)...those golems, can't do anything about them yet...my clicky debuff didn't stick, even my lures got resisted...at least the chests, ires and clerics I can nuke. found a good way of killing the clerics - just cast tears of solusek when down to 40, and nuke with conflagration - done deal :)

So I wouldnt get to bed too early, we then went to DS (also, first time ever)...logged 90 mins later, with the duke title being available.

now on to SCM3...

oh yes, I spent way too much time playing EQ, maybe 20 hours...GF wasn't mad at me though Smiley: cool

I pinged 11, 12 AAs (bought SCM1 and have 1 banked) on my Necro then switched to real exp...want to hit 59 and get my new Spectre pet for grinding.

Finally made my guild froggie, a rogue named Ookra (Asylum joke). He's up to level 8 in the tutorial, with some 30? pp.

Even logged my cleric for a little while, if only to click a few guildies in Hate.

Kaj,

EQ2 has removed any intelligence that I had (which was not much). In defense, your title was slightly misleading, it was way down the list, and I had not had me coffee. We were both at fault!

And for Dothammer:

I will journey to the hole now that I have a new pet. Thanks for reminding me!!!

Also,

Found out this weekend that a buddy of mine and his wife are splitting up. She blames eq2 for the split. He does play obscene amounts for a 35 years old. Luckily there are no kids involved. My opinion is that if it wasn't eq2 then it would be something else like golf, or booze or whatnot. He has a very addictive personality. If he can work 80 hour weeks as an accountant during tax season and not skip a beat then I guess playing eq2 for 24 hours at a time and ignoring his wife is not much of a surprise.

I feel bad because I got him started on the playstation version of eq. Then he graduated to eq2 when it came out. O well. At least he will have all the time in the world to do what makes him happy...

Forget that pet. Load up on CHA, charm an elemental. The crusaders heal so watch out for those. Have your low level mez and best mez both memmed. Be sure to root 'target', debuff and send in pet. Keep target rooted, if charm breaks, use low level mez, tash and re-charm pet. If you do not have a cleric/healer, use your runes on self. When pet gets low on HP, break charm and dispense for full xp.

It is intense but fun hehe...

hehe. in defense, the title was misleading, but only because allas forum was screwed yesterday. you could post, but then only the subject line showed, but not the content (like in "weekend blitz" post further down). took me three attempts to finally see what I had posted...

and, sorry you didn't come back earlier, cause I was in the Dulles Va. area 2 weeks ago. I even announced my coming over. could've meet in spanky shenannigans in leesburg for a pint ;)

be safe Smiley: smile

edit: typo

That depends. You will get more dps, however once your charm breaks that hasted mob will want to beat on you.

Here's what I do when I charm solo. I tash and than charm a mob. Sometimes you'll need to root the mob before charm lands. Command your charmed pet to attack a mob. If you get adds you can do one of two things. You can mezz the add or you can train the mob onto your pet. If you don't have agro (tash or mezz, etc) from an add it will attack your pet first. I had up to 7 adds on a pet because they weren't mezzable. Training your pet also saves your mana.

When your pet gets low on health you can drop the charm by dispelling or going invisible. If you drop the charm before your pet dies you get xp for killing it.

The toughest part about charming mobs is the duration is not set. A 7 minute charm spell can last 2 minutes or the full duration. It's not like mezzes and can drop at any time. Lowering the mobs MR by tashing should help. Keep root up to keep a broken charmed mob from beating on you. You will get hit so keep runes up.

You need to keep mezzes, tash, slow, root, runes, and charm up in your spell slots. It's dangerous but lots of fun and good practice. Have fun and good luck.

Did a few LDON's, finally got enough points to get my Epic augged.

Hung out in PON for a while, great group, got some massive AA xp.

Tried to get a group in POI, but got trained, and died. After that, noone wanted to hang in POI anymore...

Hit 56 with the rogue fairly early on, as I recall. Did some DoN missions and got enough crystals for the +12 all stats aug and placed it in my Ornate BP. The somewhat amusing net effect was a loss in AC & raw hitpoints because the rec lvl on the augment carried over onto the rest of the BP stats. I knew that happened, I just forget when I did it. Anyway, no big deal since it was -3 AC and -7 hp and the +Stats made up the difference.

Went to Hate and nabbed my book which means I'm slowly working on my epic again. Tried to pickpocket the dwarven GM a few times and gave up for the night. Finished the weekend a gold and change from 57. Maybe I can get one of my hitpoints back Smiley: wink2

Fri: Guuld Bank was looking pretty bare. So me and a Guildie went a farmin. Hit all the old world spots.....Lower Guk, Dalnir's, Old Seb, The Hole, Chardok....

Farmed 21 somewhat decent items for guild.

Sat: Loaded up EQ2 on wife's and My new gaming Rigs. Gave it a whirl. Nice graphics...and a definite nice break from the runnings of my Guild. Absolutly not a EQ replacement but may be a nice place to hide from EQ occasionally.

Sun & Mon: Picnics...some EQ here and there, nothing notable.

My two cents...

Far too busy with work to do much playing.

Also, went on first date this weekend...yay!

Of course I got in 30 minutes of EQ in during the weekend, too. Usually I only manage 20...but it was a long weekend.

Dot,

Soloed the Hole last night!! Well, the first room, hehe. However, I just used my pet since I realized that I didn't have me latest charm which needs to be researched. Got him a few pet weapons and was able to solo the entire first room (elemental guardians and warriors). Had a little problem with an elemental crusader (he healed himself a few times) and things got a bit hairy.

Loot drops consisted of some Shards (sold for 80 plat to a vendor!!!), a few gem drops, a helm of some sort (good for an alt), and some gems. Very good plat making night. Also dropped an Axe with a HASTE something or other. I remember these axes sold for about 50 plat in the bazaar so I gave it to my pet which he promptly ate. Therfore I will just save them for now.

Made it to 49.75 and had to log. Tonight I will ding 50!!!

Forgot to update last night but you can amuse yourself in the meantime with my obsolete lvl 55 Magelo. The key changes being a minor upgrade to a Ring of Ice Illusions (in lieu of Taelosian) and the addition of the +12 All Stat augment in my chestpiece. And I'm a gold away from 57.

Hardly uber but I feel I'm doing okay, all things considered.
