There are guilds for this, Days of Old, on Povar, I believe.

Sorry, can't find the link for it right now...

Joph send me your EQ names on Povar. Mental already did.

Hubby and I rolled chars on Drinal last night to check it out. Firstly, can I say I cant stand the new tutorial? Granted, it gives you time to learn what you need to know, and things have changed so much that I felt like I was an utter noob as opposed to an old player. But I wanted to get out and run around Neriak. But I couldnt figure out a way to leave the thing.

Secondly, whats this new "newplayer" channel? Is it only for the tutorial or what?

Lastly I've gotten used to viewing my char in 3rd person. In EQ I always did 1st, but I was cracking up actually feeling my stomach twist as I did that last night. However every time I did 3rd person I kept viewing myself Smiley: lol

/sigh its gonna take awhile to get used to this again

SOE very recently added general channels. They were added for zones, classes, etc. You can turn them off in your main options window tab.

Personally I keep them off and don't join them. I don't need 3 more channels asking me for KEI.

Do you HAVE to do the tutorial? If so, is this a DoN thing or is it just a part of EQ now? If it is a part of DoN, I know one expansion I won't be getting.

No; when you're at the start of the character creation screen there's a button (upper right I think) labelled "Start in the Tutorial" that is enabled by default. Turn that off and you get the old-fashioned start in your newbie zone.

So dont forget to destroy the kobold skull from the tutorial, and all the other gear as well. Its not "old school".
To really recreate the old feel make a duplicate copy of your game files and start your new characters after deleting POK, SoL, LoY etc files. Voila! Eq with the first two expansions.

I also dont plan on playing the O game anytime soon. I will leave that to Elne Clare.

Old School would mean passing up the tutorial completely.

I don't think many would be interested. And OLD ZONE server, with all the quests fixed/updated, new graphics, and limited to the above mentioned continents...maybe... Not all of the changes have dumbed-down the EQ game. Some changes have actually made game play *gasp* more enjoyable.

Who wants to waste most of 2 hours setting up for a raid? We still do but that's beside the point Smiley: wink, it doesn't have to be that way now.

I agree the creation of the many expansions is motivated by the company's desire to hold on to your subscription monies, but I also think part of it is a desire to keep creating stuff in the EQ environment (side benefit sell more games). Not every painting is a Rembrandt so don't expect every expansion to be a masterpiece and please EVERYONE.

'sigh' One can never go back. (If we could I'd be 23 again)

Some of the things that really bother me about the changes that have come with new expansions:

- Equipment/gear from old zone drops and quests is seriously, let me emphasize SERIOUSLY under-statted (that a word?).
- The Cities have become ghost towns
- PoK is too crowded.

**Aye DSD, Povar for teh WIN!
