the best duoFollow

what does everybody think the best duo is, I 2box a 52 rogue and pally, they are fun but not really the best so what do u think?

There are a lot of good duos but the most well rounded is the shaman/sk. With the shaman/sk you get everything you need, tank, healer, slower, haste, buffs, snare, ability to single pull, crowd control, etc. The only thing lacking in that combo is the dps but the shaman does have some very good dots.

I like the Necromancer Cleric and/or Paladin duo... You get tanking (two tanks if you have a Paladin and the Necro's pet... just keep the pet alive), slow, DoT, heal, direct damage, and more.

I prefer shaman/paladin myself, but that probably has something to do with having a paladin and not an SK. No snare, but get HP buffs, not as good as cleric but with brells it's almost as much. Plus 90% res never hurts.

Once the shaman gets the DoN proc buff, the DPS isn't bad at all. Once I got leopard I stopped casting dots, cast on the wolf and paladin it does pretty sweet damage, it fires almost every swing since the paladin has capped dex from the shaman. Gimme undead and between it and the nife procs and I can't even see the mobs anymore theres so many procs firing :)

Necro/Beast or Necro/Shaman good for taking named mobs

cleric/enchanter is a fun, but oft dangerous duo.

cleric/mage is also decent for certain zones as well!

Even though I like the sk/shaman combo I'm going with the necro/shaman. I just enjoy playing those two classes and there's a lot of dps between the two.

I constantly head out with (albeit a Trio) a 66 druid, 64 druid and a 58 Necro. We have some nice DOT dps, and also have time to BS and have fun during kills.

I really like the Paladin / Necro combo, always have.

As a trio, I know I'm probably breaking a sacred rule or something, but I, as a druid, regularly group with a Ranger and a Beastlord. I take care of the healing, buffing and DS's, the BL has slow, some DOTS, and his pet, and the ranger just knocks the mob to h*ll, and saves me mana by snaring.

Seems to work pretty well.

something might be a good duo for 2 people but not for 2 boxing. like a druid and a necro, it would be tough to play these at the same time. I like the sk/shaman combo. you got slows, heals (shaman and taps), snares, tanking.

This has been talked about for too long.
As Jonwin has said on more than one occasion, the best duo in EQ is Tehom and Calimyr.

#1 Shaman/Mage(tied)
#1 Shaman/Necro(tied)
#3 Shaman/Pally
#4 Beastlord/Druid
#5 Beastlord/Cleric

those 5 combo are probably the most versitile duos out there Each has a tank(if not 2 or 3) a slower(Probably the most important thing while duoing) a healer, several have rezers(and more if you have AA no exp rez), all have buffers, and all have CC in som form or another(be it root snare pet OTing self OTing or what not....)

Personally IMHO any duo with a shaman works well(shaman is the best class to have in a duo) those are just my favorites(I mostly do a shaman/wizzy duo)

i 2 and 3 box it a lot
i took my warrior lvl 15 and cleric lvl 14 up to 42nd lvl in less then 40 hrs with the help of my lvl 43 druid buffs. now i 3 box them warrior tanks so well with dmg shield and endless temp

i also played with beastlord, warrior, cleric fun pet and warrior tank kill fast

right now for past 15 hrs i've been playing a shaman, berserker, cleric lvl 1-18 now no buffs, work well together, berserker troll and shammy iksar for extra regen.

but for lvling fast i find warrior cleric best add in a druid for dots dmg shield and extra heal, fun group to play

There are many Duo's that are effective.

As with all things best is purely personal choise, the variables of player skill, class knowlage and equipment make "best" a pointless question.

If it works use it, if it doesn't don't.

I like Mage/Bst : Pally/Druid : Necro/Rogue but i hate Shammy/Sk but it doesn't make it not a good duo because i suck at it.

Thats fine at the lower levels but your ability to not slow hard hitting mobs will make xp'ing more difficult the higher you go.

I ran across a Shaman/Monk duo box in NC one day They were very impressive. Mowed thru the mobs with the nice Monk dps. He tanked easily with Shaman slow.

I currently box Bard/Cleric and Bst/Cleric both decent combos but not that great for fast kills and xp.

That shaman weapon proc spell adds a lot of dps too.

war/clr is not one of the best(nor is the fast)....it can handle a lot.....but it doesn't do it quickly............for the most part(unless a high end warrior) you lack the dps of some other tanking options(beastlords, mages, necros, and monks) and a cleric lacks the basic utilities(Slow.....which I said is the single best duoing spell EVER.......haste........melee buffs..........)

If you want a basic tank/heal duo go for Pally/Shaman............war/Clr just wont be much fun =/
