My thoughts on #27 are it is some named mob. The clue is in the Lore tied to it. Someone who is recruited for something and/or changes identities; Morphs into something else?. Sadly my knowledge of EQ lore is limited.

#28 is likely the next mob numerically in the Bestiary. Originally I thought a good answer to Next! was a Black Reaver.

The phrase is correct, but two clues remain unsolved. A solution set is ready to go.

Let me know if you want it posted, otherwise I will assume you want to keep digging away at those two remaining.

As long as the two clues go unsolved:
If I see answer-request posts from three different people who are active in the forums (or at least in this thread), I will post them. The answers posted will be a full solution set including the two remaining clues.

Oh Bother.

Ignore this post as I hadn't gone to page 2 yet before posting it.

Grats to Dot & Nam for resolving it.

I will also wait 24 hours before begging to see the solution.

---------------------

And by the way, Railus. VERY good job on this riddle. I enjoyed it a lot and it gave my commute hours on the bus something more productive to work on.

Looking forward to more fun in the future.

/cheer Railus !

(Three cheers for Railus)

Zandalf,

That link shows Clue #6, not 27. It is already discovered.

Railus, was
Quote:
16. Spirit of an Arch Priest

Suppose to be Eom Thall Xakra by chance?

Eom (arch ) Thall (priest) Xakra (spirit)

Eom Senshali Xakra would obviously be Spirit of an Arch Rogue.

Just curious which part was wrong, the clue or the answer (seeing as Eom Thall Xakra doesn't have a graphic up)

Yes, it was originally supposed to be Eom Thall Xakra, but that entry did not have a picture with it. The answer was changed, but the clue in the puzzle's final version was not. I guess I was so preoccupied double and triple checking numbering and placements that this one slipped under the radar. Smiley: oyvey

So, if you found yourself looking over the Vex Thal entries over the past few days, you were on the right track.

OK, the clock is ticking. We are down to about 18 hours as of this post (unless I am emphatically told otherwise).

As promised, here it is. Well done by all those who participated.

SPOILERS & ANSWERS

********

The original instructions indicated that you should listen closely, and be taken down memory lane.

We go to an old zone, and a very old phrase ("memory lane") - a phrase you will not catch unless you are up close and personal ("listen closely"). Next time you are in the now-seldom-occupied Desert of Ro and encounter a madman, stop. You may just be asked, "Might I have some copper, please?"

The clues unveiled (including the two unsolved):

1. The mighty glass dragon
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=10348 ("P")
-- Example.

2. A heated enchantment
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=11338 ("V")
-- Heated as in fire, as in Doomfire; enchantment as in enchanter as in mob's class and title Charmer.

3. Double a hill giant
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=660 ("S")
-- Hill Giant's ID is 330. Multiply by 2 to get 660, the ID of an Ice Giant (what a confusing coincidence).

4. A "little" too much to carry? Seek out this nameless one
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=3160 ("I")
-- Little as in small race, a halfling; the Bag Merchant is one of the few unique non-named vendors.

5. Half a jury
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=10257 ("E")
-- 12 members on a jury, there are six Tribunals; like juries, The Tribunal is all about justice.

6. Born again
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=10977 (blank)
-- Born again - reborn.

7. In the seventh of seven; the only one in two
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=3721 ("M")
-- Boomba the Big is in the seventh of seven scenery screenshots. He is the only ogre ("one") in West Freeport (zone ID #2).

8. Twenty-eight of four undiscovered
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=10739 (blank)
-- Planar Projection was the answer to the 28th clue of the Easter Egg hunt. It was the fourth of four Easter eggs unfound.

9. You will want one more than 200; it's the truth
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=1024 ("E")
-- "Truth" refers to the Knights of Truth North Freeport faction. 201 is the minimum skill to pick the lock to the vault which houses Sir Drolfis.

10. On top alongside 10,000
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=6708 ("E")
-- The 10,000th entry into the database is located in the Temple of Veeshan. A Burning Guardian is the "top" listing there.

11. Bulge can be thanked for the last of the first
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=5420 ("R")
-- A player named Bulge is credited with the final media box screenshot of the first archive page. The mob featured in the shot is an ice burrower.

12. Timeless shades of Frozen Shadow
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=11975 ("L")
-- "Timeless" refers to a lack of time in the Plane of Time. One of the rarest models in the game is that of Tserrina of the Tower of Frozen Shadow, who shares the model with Dersool Fal`Giersnaol.

13. u]First[/u
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=11674 (blank)
-- The answer to the first trivia question archived as a fill in the blank was Peregrin Rockskull.

14. Seeking aid on the front battle line
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=7074 ("H")
-- Herald Telcha asks if visitors to Chardok are there to "aid" the Sarnaks. He is perma-rooted at the zone-in (front battle line).

15. In a giant city, the only one not really there
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=5726 ("O")
-- Kael is a city of giants; Armor of Zek is the only body-less being.

16. Spirit of an Arch Priest
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=10602 ("M")
-- (Error) Spirit of an Arch Priest translates into Akhevan as "Eom Thall Xakra," which did not have a picture in the bestiary. The mob got changed, but the clue did not. (Apologies!)

17. Life-sized, or rather unlife-sized; confined to a single shade
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=3719 ("T")
-- The Undead Bishop is found on a life-sized chessboard. He is undead though, hence unlife-sized; in real chess, bishops are confined to a single shade on the playing board.

18. Foresight is necessary to get a sure shot on this one
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=17420 (blank)
-- A play on words: In the Trial of Foresight you will find a Kyv Sureshot.

19. It is Her eye
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=3590 ("O")
-- "Her" is capitalized, a bit of grammar reserved for only the most powerful of gods.

20. Fierce, frenzied, and spirited
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=18035 ("G")
-- Another play on words: Spiritfrenzied Phoenix drops a piece of Fierce clay.

21. In retrospect, it sits between oddities
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=3452 ("P")
-- Thought for the Day archives lead you to a series of retrospective links, which for the most part are bestiary pages. An Ancient Cyclops was featured between abnormal entries - an item, and an archive link among dozens of bestiary mobs.

22. Memories of Permafrost in an awakening
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=6461 ("E")
-- Memories refers to a mob no longer with us; this warder was of course a part of The Sleeper's awakening, and was the only warder to take the same form as Lady Vox of Permafrost.

23. The third piece can be tricky
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=14588 ("A")
-- A play on words: The third piece of the Enchanter Epic 2.0 is found on Chavoor the Trickster.

24. An overseer among the mastruqs
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=13334 ("S")
-- Oltix is a mastruq of course, and titled as an Overseer.

25. Creeping doom in the shadows
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=17716 (comma)
-- Vishimitar the Fallen casts Creeping Doom, and is part of the task "In the Shadows."

26. Track down this middle "monk," you may be surprised at what you find
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=17999 (blank)
-- "Monk" refers to the Grandmaster title. The Grandmaster Puma sits between two other Grandmasters in the Thundercrest Isle listing. It appears as a goblin rather than a puma.

27. New recruit or change in identity?
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=16879 ("E")
-- Watchman Grep is a new Gem Choppers recruit posted in the Steamfont Mountains. Either that, or Watchman Halv underwent a change in identity. This incident is shrouded in mystery.

28. Next!
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=3382 ("H")
-- Watchman Mylz is listed directly following Watchman Grep in the Steamfont bestiary.

29. Your memory will be cursed and your visions tortured. Well, something like that
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=12554 ("P")
-- Khati Sha will actually curse your visions and torture your memories.

30. A fabulous loyalist of Storm Guard
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=266 ("C")
-- Sigin is part of the Fabulous Four, and is a member of Storm Guard.

31. Boozing in the heat
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=3524 ("A")
-- The Fire Goblin Bartender resides in a steamy Solusek's Eye.

32. The sole undead
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=18132 ("I")
-- "Sole" or "Soul" as in "Soulbinder" - the only Soulbinder in undead form would be the skeleton of The Arena, Soulbinder Gendal.

33. Go to the one you reach with a golden key; go to the effect on the dropped chest piece; to the live zone in which you find the third item listed with the effect; see who is featured in the third scenery shot and count four up from her; go to the zone you find behind this NPC and to the quest of the final NPC entry; subtract 30 from the zone of the fourth related NPC; go to the first animal listed and follow through the only item linked as its drop; count down to the seventh baking recipe listed and go to the other item used in that recipe; the one you are looking for is on top.
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=5155 (question mark)
-- Najena; Flowing Black Robe; Reanimation Efficiency I; Lizardskin Tribal Mask; The Feerrott; Duga; Cyndreela; Plane of Fear; Wraith of a Shissar; Test of the Phantasm; the Ghost of Kindle; The Hole; Paineel; A Black Bat; Bat Wing; Fish Rolls; Fresh Fish; Zigg Flin
