I don't thie SE will allow people to just create plat and sell it... I don't think SoE will do this either... I think they will allow one player to sell plat to another player and take a chunk of the money... This isn't going to make the market fall...

My next examples were way off, so I deleted them... I did some research and found out I was looking at the wrong chart :-) Here is some interesting information if you are curious how on-line games rank for player base....

Making money and adding it into circulation without something to take it out will make money worth less and less over time. That's the main problem I have with it, apart from morals. Infact, it's better to "illegally" buy plat than to buy it from someone who just clicks a button and makes it. That money has already been made, and just changing hands won't hurt as much as if you were to get freshly made plat.

You know, that is one of the biggest problems that can occur to an ingame economy. Did SOE say they would do this? No. Did they say they wouldn't? I don't think so. I don't want to address whether or not that is going to happen, but I do want to say that they can avoid that problem should it arise for whatever reason if they play it smart.

Perhaps adding better armor to vendors which becomes NO TRADE, something that costs a good chunk of pp but has stats good enough to make it competitive with bazaar items. Similar items to mounts which every player would want. They could have made the bandolier cost platinum and be no drop. They can sell additional potion belt slots, add guild hall improvements for platinum, sweeten the deal for tribute when players donate currency instead of items. There is a number of different ways the problem of artificial inflation can be fought. The only drawback is we are relying on SOE to make things mesh when they can barely make a patch work on the fourth try.

I am ambivelant to the whole plat for dollars disccusion anymore, it really is a dead horse.

But one thing that has recently occured to me on this issue is that having multiple accounts 2+boxing is really doing more or less the same thing. You by your extended finances can afford more then one computer/account and use them to give yourself an advantage in the game. It may not be on the scale and you may with your 2+ characters actually kill or help kill all the items you get and sellin accordance with the Eula ( like Sony gonna ban people who pay them more), but the long and short of it is that you used your green plats to move more quickly through a game then the guy who had one account and one boxed.

FWIW I two box too, one mostly sits in bazaar but there ya go.

How can you say EQ2 will have no effect on EQ1? Do you think they wont start it on EQ1 if it makes them a nice chunk of change on eq2? They're both owned by SOE. :shakes head

" To be clear, all we are doing is facilitating these transactions. We are NOT in the business of selling virtual goods ourselves."-John Smedley

They are not selling the items themselves. Players are still killing mobs to get the plat/items to sell. This means that it will not ***** the economy too much, but it also means that they will be camping more. How much more vicious do you think people will become when theres real money on the line? And how much do you think SOE will really be enforcing there farming polocy when they themselves are getting real money from these people?

People also seemed to have glossed over a very key fact.

"If the percentage of players who want this service is high enough, we might consider converting some existing servers to "Exchange enabled."-John Smedley

What if your server was changed over. If you don't want to be on an EE server you now get to move to a new server to find a new guild, build a new reputation, learn a slightly different economy and have to make new in game friends. And if you stay with your server you get to deal with alot of new problems this will create. Sounds like fun to me /sarcasm.

I don't particularly have a problem with people buying items/plat with real cash. After all spending xx hours to make 50kpp in game or at work...you still put time and effort into it eitehr way. and well some peole don't like to camp for 3 days for loot. I can't blame them. Some people just don't find that very fun. And if it's not fun for them then they mine as well be at work*shrug*

Buying characters on the other hand I do not like. lvling your char up yourself is the best way to learn what your class can do. Starting at lvl 50-70 just means that you are going to get alot of people killed because you are learning the things most learn by lvl 20.

As far as SOE being able to change there policy. Yes they can do that. But they're still saying that you cannot make money for your time unless they are getting money for your time. These people are basically going from "costomer" status to "business partner" status. That will affect the game.

I think I covered everything I can remember.

My only hope is that this will not do well in EQ2 so that we will never have to see it in EQ1. /prays

On the upside. If it does we can sell our characters when we all quit and make back some of the large amount of $$ we have spent on expantions and subscriptions. /snort

I know a quote from a song that would suit as a reply to most posts in this thread:
Quote:
Cry me a river

Seriously.. Why would anyone care if people could sell pp/gear with real cash if its executed like it was in eq2?
So what happened in eq2?
A new server started with station exchange and no other servers where effected in a bad way. I know since station exchange there have been ALOT less botteams stealing kills and camps in eq2.
Its not like SoE is trying something radical, gamechanging and new stuff.
They are only trying to control what is allready happening. (ebay/playerauction.com anyone?)

If you dont like it then by all means, quit. But dont be a baby about it. Aka "I dont get it my way, I quit /cry"

Just stfu and go on with other buisness.

Also, mods please lock this very old thread. No need to bring old crybaby/drama threads back to life.
