I won't switch over to EQ2 because there's still so much to see and do in EQ. There are many, many zones I've never set foot in yet. With the new expansions, the world of Norrath is getting even bigger.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. EQ still rocks.

I plan on taking a "wait and see" attitude. Depends on how buggy it is at launch.

Getting keyed for VT is all I'm concerned about at present.

Worrying about something that might happen sometime next year seems pointless.

for one thing ican believe you guys are thinking about buying WoW. Have you ever played a Blizzard game?
1. There is always some thing totally screwed up with there service and Battle.net.
2. They always only come out with one expantion for every game they make.
Now is you ask me one expansion will get boring after about 2 months.

EQ2 is gonna come out with more than one expantion unlike blizzard.

Plus i like the idea of every one being a newb, it makes the game more fun tha way.

DAOC had only one expansion so far and has attracted a very large community of dedicated players nonetheless.

And Blizzard will probably not make WoW2 because they ***** WoW1 a little more up with every new expansion.

I'm not buying EQ 2 any time soon. Why? Because I'm still having to much fun with EQ now, to want to move. And I don't want to have to buy a new box just to play a game.

SWG is over a year old and still not fully as advertised.

Huh. I could have sworn I started playing SWG last summer, when it came out...

Back OT, I might be playing EQ2. I keep getting burned out on EQ1. My play time is very limited, and it's just so hard to get on and do anything meaningful for an hour in EQ1 now. I'm hoping EQ2 will be more forgiving in that sense.

Also, I've been playing EQ1 for 3 years now (off and on). My attention span is <~> that long, lol. I need a new distraction.

I was slightly interrested, but won't be buying it. I took a poll of family and friends that play EQ and everybody wants to stay right where we are...

The plan is to not buy it.

1 - Just started playing a month ago. Obviously I haven't scratched the surface with a 28 lvl warrior.

2 - The amount of player-created information is awesome and will take some time to compile for EQ2. Sony sure won't do it.

3 - I doubt I'd have enjoyed EQ when it was launched. I stayed away in fact after skimming player reviews. Nowadays it's clearly different & better developed.

And the silly one,
4 - The EQ2 website requires flash so I can't get in to even really understand what they're doing :p .

That said, who knows for sure, if these kinds of things are addressed I might switch over.

LoL, i hear ya there. i hate flash web pages. flash and java script are disabled on all of my systems.

that seems to keep a lot of unwanted spyware/pop-up advertisments out of my system too.

not to mention my hosts file is HUGE and that helps keep out loads of banners.

I am thinking I will buy it, and split the time I played EQ1 between EQ1&2. Although I played a few of the Warcraft games, I never really got into the storyline and that's important to me. I'm sure the storyline of WoW will probably be a good one, and may evolve with expansions, just not sure I can get into it.

From what I have read in the GoD lore, it seems that they really are developing a good storyline even further, and I am interested in seeing where it goes with EQ2. I also like the fact that they are trying to make tradeskilling not only even more useful, but the products varied by the skill of the creater (as in player skill, not character skill). I have a strong feeling I will have two mains in EQ2 as it stands, monk as I am, and a smith. Kinda disappointed that as I am now (a monk and a smith) I have to split my character in half.

I'm absolutely going to buy EQ2. I'm probably going to check out WoW but nothing I've seen about WoW has me really convinced that they are doing anything particularly special. And given my past experience with the 2 dozen eq wannabes I'm not holding my breath. The only good thing I see about WoW is that they are brave enough to not try to be substantially different than EQ they want to just be better.

EQ2 however is a second generation of EQ drawing on the 4+ years experiences or EQ. Happily they are not planning to make EQ2 different than EQ but rather primarily better also. Another strong point. So I'm all over EQ2. Starting over is a good thing it will let them clean out all the crap which is really the whole reason to starting a new game as opposed to makeing EQ become EQ2.

To the person with computer crashing problems. My wife had the same problem on her computer. I spent forever trying to track it down and reinstalled everything, I replaced the video card, I ran sisoft tests, etc. Nothing would help. She would play and sometimes crash in seconds sometimes in 30 minutes or more. Eventually after weeks of research I found the problem. It was the memory. I know I tested it repeatedly and had no problems. Someone somewhere posted that people should get the microsoft memory tester off the microsoft web site. I tried this and it runs your computer through like 10 or so different memory tests. Her computer ran all of them but one flawlessly. Since her motherboard is an nforce2 motherboard I downloaded a utility from asus I believe that let me change bios functions while the computer is running. We droped the memory speed from 333 to 266 and the problem went away...

Good luck.

Since i started EQ since beta here are my reasons not getting EQ2 off the bat

1> EQ2 will be basically Antonica only (like when EQ first came out)

2> No doubt with EQ2 release there prolly working on a Kunark EXP off the bat

3> having a house but only 1 bank and travleing all over the place will be a pain like EQ first came out...

4> not able to twink is a bonus

5> Having a Legends and EQ combined maps friends location ( not sure if they doing it that way)

6> Dont mind starting all over and researching quests all over again because uncertain if it will be the same

Bottom line i think i will prolly wait tell at least 3 expansion come out when they sell it like a pack... Ive spent in my eye with the current game when people can by the evolution pack and LDON for bascially about the 1/8 of the cost i had too not to mention the upgradding of system HW and or system builds from when EQ first went out of beta.

But the only advantage i c purchassing that its when the Throw SOE all access for EQ then would be like paying 12 bucs again for both games and if you have the Ps2 version then 8 bucs a month for the all access
