Group XP versus Raid XPFollow

#1 Jan 16 2004 at 12:40 PM Rating: Decent
Greetings all.
I have been searching several sites (RPG Expert, Allakh, etc.) trying to find a post about the XP differences between Group XP and Raid XP.

I have heard that you get an XP bonus for 4+ players in a group, in addition to the normal group XP. And I know that while raiding, you get XP, but dont know if there is a bonus.

What is my motivation? I am wondering if it is reasonable to group with 7 or 8 people for normal non-LDoN grouping.

Any statistics would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

No bonuses for raid xp. For a while, Raidxp didn't get xp modified by the ZEM, which caused it to be -much- lower than normal xp. I think they changed that, but I think it misses out on the new group xp mods, so you might make about half-again as much xp in a single group versus a 6 man group that are all listed as being in a raid. Still, this is without any real testing to back it up, I'd encourage you to do enough mobs of the same level range to see some movement, like say, 10 mobs to see a couple percent gain, then just do a 6 man raid, and see if the number jumps to more like 14 or 15 kills for the same. Ultimately, whether it's viable or not is more just a personal call, and how much you like to min/max.

for starters you can not have a group of 7 or 8 players. at that point it MUST be raid, not group.

you get group xp bonus for 1-5 players with the 6th also adding a bonus, but not taking a larger split on the xp, thus a full group is very benificial for xp grinding.

raids are not for xp, they are for taking down something that 1 group can no do. the xp is split umong all of the members of the raid per kill that they are in the area for xp range.

in other words if you are in a raid of 72 players, then each mob that can A. give you xp, and B. is killed close enough for you to receive xp from it will give you and everyone else who can get the xp from that mob.

made up #s following:

raid of 72 players kills mob A. worth 9000 points of xp.

9000 / 72 = 125 points ea person. lets asume that you need 1,000,000 points to xp level. 125 points is jack to your xp bar, and will hardly be noticed on a raid.

that is why most playes when they raid will switch to AAxp, vs. normal xp.

I have had times where we had 8 people in Hate so we removed the 2 alts of the 2 guys 2 boxing out of the exp group. Still used them for damage and buffs but I hear exp would have been much worse if we had used all 8 in a small "raid".

Donno I am interested to hear the results if anyone gets a offical answer or does a study.
