Rangers and levelingFollow

Alright, time to let out a little frustration, and ease some curiosity(you're all overjoyed, right?).

I'm not an experienced ranger player. Mine is only level 20. What I want to know though, is what are the opinions of everyone on them prior to them becoming great archers and reaching a very high DPS? The ones I guild with have mixed stories. Some claim rangers claim that soloing with panic animal and snare is a formidable way to level all the way to 50+, and others claim it's unreliable and next to useless. Some think it's easy to get a group in the mid levels, and others think that they're just a class people pick up if there's extra room. I'd like more opinions. Are rangers a worthwhile character for groups, and are they generally picked for groups over other classes, or do they have to wait to be picked up and do some mediocre soloing while they wait? I know that was all contradicting and I sound full of wind, but the main thing I want to know is: what do rangers bring to the table in a group, before they become nice archers, and are they considered effective soloists against animals?

On a side note any tips to train archery are appreciated. I've found it takes a long time to increase. Thanks

Fear Kiting Animals works very very well, but is extremely boring!!!!

As a ranger you pretty much always want to pull with snare.

Training Archery (any wepon skill actually) is easily done while fear kiting. Or for archery you can just, snare, root, and fill it with 1000 arrows. Takes forever to kill anything with archery.

As for grouping, yea, um groups are never looking for a ranger, but will take one to fill spots. Rangers bring descent DPS, snaring, toughness(good off-tank), and a little healing to any group they join.

If I were to wish one thing for rangers, it would be more damage output via archery pre level 59. At levels 1-15 or so archery is somewhat effective, I would like to see this level carried through to 59.

If you haven't started fletching.. do it get it up to at least 68 I think. That will allow you to create 150 range, 1 damage arrows. You will need a ton of them. I have 7, 10 space boxes in my inventory, and when I sit down for a fletching session I fill myself up almost completely with arrows. Like 1200 or so, then go out training, you will be surprised how quickly you go through them. That Tolans Darkwood bracer is nice, but fletching is faster, and they don't disappear when you log.

Thats about all I have to say.
