Quest?
# Jan 27 2006 at 1:24 PM Rating: Decent
A little mithra girl told me to show a sandfish to Mhebi Juhbily. I don't know if this is a quest or just one of the wierd things NPC's say now and then, I have high fame in kazham but no new quests appeared in my quest log... of course they don't always show up until you finish them... so anyway if someone knows if they are for a quest go ahead and respond.

I literally caught one of these with 0 fishing skill, while trying to fish up Devil mantas in Kuftal Tunnel, managed to nab one of these and a few rusty caps in a few hours. All done with Carbon Rod + Insect Paste, 0 fishing skill.

Disappointed to see it only got me 50G to a vendor though. Woe...
why are they here??

I have caught several stacks of these in rabao over the lst couple weeks. I checked all the AH of every city and they are never sold there!! In windy it has been months since they sold but they were going for 10k a stack there...I put one stack up at 10k to see if it will sell but dont think its gonna...What do you do with these when you catch them?

I tried catching them along with moat carp using a carbon rod + insect balls and 48 fishing skill. Some people say they're better for leveling 48-51 than the usual moat carp/gold carp grind in Windurst. However, the bite rate for sandfish seemed just as bad as gold carp. Not worth it when you consider that sandfish sell for 53 gil and gold carp sell for 675 and both provide the same skillups. You can also catch these with a sabiki rig, however this is totally not worth it as you won't be catching moat carp at the same time and the bite rate for the sabiki rig with these fish is even worse than with insect balls. Over all you'll catch less and you'll miss out on a fish that's actually wirth somthing at the same time.

They do provide a +3 DEX, however if you have 21 cooking you're better off catching pipira in Windurst and making roast pipira out of them for +3 DEX -1 MND (they sell pretty well too). At the fishing skill required for sandfish you'll be catch far more Pipira as they are a much lower skill fish.

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:

You are missing a few valid points that should be noted here. First: Sandfish won't break a carbon rod when fishing with Insect Balls. Gold Carp do. It's nice to be able to make money fishing for while still raising your skill. Or even just save for Lu Shangs. Second: while we are talking about making money don't forget that very often you will pull up Rusty Caps when fishing with either Sabiki or Insect Balls. Anyone with ~27+ smithing knows these are instant wealth. Even if you don't have smithing high enough you can sell them fairly quickly at AH for ~2k each. Third: In my experience Sandfish bite the Sabiki more often than Gold Carp bite the Shrimp Lure (both times with Composite Rod). I tested this for quite some time because I was more interested in skill than money. 2.0 average gain per day (~4-5 hours) from sandfish. 0.7 average gain per day with gold carp. Average gil earned from either venture: Sandfish, ~ 15k (rusty caps mainly). Gold Carp, ~3k.

i just pulled up 3 sandfish with sabiki rig in the little lake in rabao. Its earthsay, 10:00, waning gibbous. Bite rate is pretty low but i guess pullin up multiples is nice eh

Can catch these with Glass Fiber Fishing Rods.

Insect Paste fishes these up pretty commonly during a new moon on darksday. The rest of the time I get Moat Carp.
6000 ??
# May 01 2004 at 4:38 AM Rating: Decent
I sold 1 stack at auction for 6000. They sell to the vendor for 58g. I haven't been able to sell anymore for that price. It hasn't been used for Guild Points yet... so I don't know why the person bought it. haha

it was probably a mithra thf, mithras can eat these raw and gain +3 dex from it, same as leaping boots :P not too bad.

I'll just put all my stacks into one of my mule's vualts then. One day, when these are actually used for something, they will be worth a lot since they're so damn hard to get.
