well, as usual, for 75s... :p

Took 2 RDM75/NIN, one NIN75/WAR and one BLM75/WHM - oh, and my friend who's BLU33 happened to be in the tower when we arrived, learning Mysterious Light from the pots... Fight took less than 2 minutes, if that... We split them up, sorta... no matter. Got my Helmet - now to get the sickeningly little amount of Exp I need to WEAR the damned thing...
af drk

I got this about a week ago. I'm a bit late with most of my AF and I've only got 3 pieces to be honest, but anyway here we go.

Had myself (64DRK/WAR), with help from a 75RDM, 75WHM, and a 66NIN.

I trade the quadav blood (which took about half an hour to farm btw), and instantly I start getting hit by Scythe victims which wasnt very nice, so I run back, engage the weapon and start beating on it while the 66NIN handles some of the Scythe victims with a few cures from the RDM and WHM. One scythe victim refused to leave me alone even though I hadn't touched it and no matter what no one could get hate away from me, I was going to die eventually and everyone knew it. We had the weapon down to about half health and after hitting a Souleater, Berserk, Last resort Guillotine to pull off about 1k damage, then using Blood Weapon to last a bit longer, the scythe victim manages to kill me as the weapon is on about 2%hp, boo. Well, I die anyway which was expected (consider it suicide), and the rest just clean up the Scythe victims, and I get a Raise III, use the teleporter and get my cutscene.

Main points? Pop arcane circle with your AF boots, try not to die either but for me it was going to happen sooner or later, so I decided to make the most of it. I lost a few hundred exp at most which wasnt too bad.

Its an easy AF mission if you have the right people.

Its quite a nice helmet, beats the hell out of a Sipahi turban too.

Well I did mine last night, and here was my party set up. 60drk, 75nin, and 65rdm. Well we went to get my mage blood, and it took about 3 hours so i sugjest taking T2 to help with drop. So we went to the tower and got in the room, we had built our TP up to 300% before I traded the blood to the ??? But when mobs spawned i dropped into red in about 5 sec. Rdm kept me somehow alive but got hella hate, and he soon died. But by that time the ninja had some hate for all 3 mobs. So we managed to kill the weapon, but I soon died after weapon dropped, and soon the ninja had to 2-hour because the victims had drained him. So I was bummed out. But when I got raise and exited the teleport, I got a CS and got my helm! So moral of the story, if u dont mind dieing to get the helm lol then do what i did and die for it. But remember that you must be raised and then exit the teleport to get CS. ~Winsor Carbuncle server.

P.S. Special thanks to Jambon and Dacybabypimp for helping me. You guys are the roxorz.

Anyone know what effect this actually has towards the souleater ability in specific? I.E. drains more HP to deal more dmg, deals more dmg and drains less HP...

Ok so I did this tonight with a few people. 75pld 75whm 75rdm 69drg 59drk 56drk 58drk and a couple more.... well the skeletons linked because the tank didn't take weapon far enough away and, well we all died. So I called 2 LS buddies to help 60whm and 66blm. The 75whm re-raised and proceeded to raise all of us after the skeletons despawned. After my weakened state went away, I decided i was going to build my TP for round 2 so i go back up to the 7th floor and I get cutscene. 0.0 So if you kill the weapon mob and all die before the Scythe Victims do just go ahead and leave and you will receive your Chaos Burgeonet. :D

So in theory, you could just kill the weapon and then take the teleporter back up and leave the victims there. It's worth a try i guess.
Vs. Valkyrie Mask?

How do you rate this helm vs. Valkyrie? The STR vs. Attack kinda balances out, the extra DEF helps, and some HP is never a bad thing. I don't use Soul Eater very often so this extra effect won't help me much, and the 10mp will be missed somewhat.

I did this quest today with a group of very nice people who answered my /shouts in jeuno as well as some nice japanese players who needed it also. We did very well.

Stood in Jeuno twiddling my thumbs one day and see 2 DRK's stood beside me chatting about doing the quest. 10 minutes later i find myself in a pt with 4 DRK's 2 WHM's, 1 RDM, 1 SMN, 2 RNG, 2 BLM, 1 PLD

We all stood at one side of the room while the SMN used Carby to pull the Weapon alone, without the two skeletons linking. We kicked the shizen out of the poor thing, and then we made short work of the Skeletons. there were no casualties but the 3 DRK's that were part of the other pt got hit by the AoE drain pretty hard.

Once it was over i got my helm, since only one drk needs to trade the Blood, i pretty much got my helm for free in the space of 45 minutes. It was a good day.

Like all Paragon titles, it comes from the title changing bard in the country where your AF quests begin, in DRK's case, Bastok.

Here's what we did. We had 3 tanks, one tanked each mob. We DRKs, (HL for help or those who needed it,) beat on the weapon, while the rest of the group took out the skeletons. The weapon went down quickly, so we split up and took out the skeletons. A fairly easy fight. Just make sure there's one skeleton on each side of the room, so the entire alliance doesn't get nailed w/ AoE Drain.
Strategy...

It's probably a good idea to have three tanks, one per mob. When the battle starts, two of the tanks take one skeleton each and move as far away from the rest of the group as possible, while everyone else (except for a WHM or two, who will heal the tanks that fight the skeletons) gangbeats the scythe. When it dies, one of the other tanks brings the skeleton over to the group for a gangbeating, and then everyone smashes the final skeleton. NIN tanks are probably recommended for the skeletons, as hate control isn't an issue, they can deal more damage, and they take less damage with Utsusemi.

Haven't actually tried this strategy yet (so I have no idea how many people you need or anything like that), but it should work in theory.

Actual Delkfutt Location
# Aug 06 2004 at 5:25 PM Rating: Decent
I am sitting in the room mentioned in the GameFaq's guide and in the guides posted here. You do NOT go up to the 8th floor and go back down. You go up to the 7th floor and go back down to the 6th floor.

If you look on some of the Delkfutt map guides for the Rank 3-3 mission, you can see the fully enclosed circular room clearly, and the teleporter down to it on the next level is also marked.

The problem is, people think these are the 7th and 8th floors, when they are actually the 6th and 7th floors.

The correct teleport to enter the DRK AF3 room is in the North East corner of the 7th floor, at J-6.

Maybe the existance of a basement level in Lower Delkfutt's Tower threw some people's numbering of the floors off by 1, but the FFXI "/map" command shows the correct teleporter's floor as the 7th floor, and shows the room it leads to (with the ??? trigger by the port pad) as being on the 6th floor.

I hope I've helped avoid any confusion.
AF3 Head set
# Aug 02 2004 at 6:30 PM Rating: Decent
Probably the most difficult AF set for a drk.. I think..

1.) If you hvae AF2 then just go to Beudex. You'll see a cut scene. Look for Topez Quadev and kill them until you get a drop of blood. It is rare/ex i beileve and the drop rate is pretty bad. I was lvl55drk and those Topez Quadavs were checked either Tough or Even to me. You might want a full pt of lvl 55+. (just need one blood)

2.) Then go to Delkftt's Tower. at 7thfloor there is a teleport which will take you to the 8th floor. then find another teleport which will take you to the NE side of 7th floor teleport. you can tell your in a right room if there is no enterence what so ever. It is a confind room + two giants will be in that room.

3.) Find ??? mark next to that teleport and trade your blood.

4.) Get ready. 3 NM will pop at once. 2 are skeletons. and 1 is weapon (Arcana)type.

5.) Once you have successfully killed the mobs then all you have to do is jsut teleport using the same teleport that you came in. You'll see a cut scene and you'll obtain an Itme.

*** warning*** You must have full allince of lvl 55+ at least. we had around 13 people lvl of 54+ including 75blm, 68drk, and we got wiped out.

We were only able to kill the Arcana. and everyone was dead. Two skeletons were eventually dissapeard then our mages used reRaise and rasied everyone. We all got the quest. ^^; .. so concentrate on killing that weapon type first also use your 2hour move on him.. useless against skeltons. can't even sleep them.. ^^; Good luck

AHHH

AF3 - Blade of Evil
# May 01 2004 at 11:27 AM Rating: Excellent
1) Head to Beadeaux. There is a cutscene with Zeid. Find and slay any Topaz Quadav till you obtain its blood. (it is not a key item, its a normal item.)

2) Head to the 7th floor of Delkfutt's Tower, the room you need to go to is an isolated circular room with no entrance except a teleport. You must go to the 8th floor and take another teleport back down to the 7th. The isolated room is
on the northeast part of the map of 7th floor.

3) Have one of the DRKs doing the quest, or yourself, trade the blood to the ??? next to the teleport. 3 NMs will spawn at once, 2 are skeletons and one is the Gerwitz Scythe itself. This is a pretty challenging battle but not
impossible if your alliance is strong enough. After the battle is over, take the teleport out of the room and a cutscene will follow with you getting the helm and some words from Zeid.
