a necro acolyte

These necromancers hae access to the same spells a player would at their level, making them worthy opponents. To add to their difficulty, unlike many other creatures in Befallen, they are not undead, so the Cleric like of nuke undead will not work on them.

They are typically found on the second and third floors of befallen, with a pet.

For an idea of their HPs, I randomly killed 10 of these from all over the zone. One on one, strictly melee damage, no heals allowed, went as follows:

1 - 326
2 - 314
3 - 296
4 - 299
5 - 377
6 - 337
7 - 352
8 - 437
9 - 445
10 - 441

So they have on average 360 HPs, give or take depending upon level and necromancer buffs. You can see the significant jump in HPs on the last three. Most of them had pets but a few did not. The ones that did not have a pet seemed to be the ones with the larger amount of HPs.

Just plain Bad

These beasites are hard at any level, especially when they swarm. I had to take my cleric in there ( 27 level then) on a quest and, of course, these guys KOS'ed her. Slapped me with Fear that I didn't resist and had me scurrying all over Befall, and then when I turned there were two more. Bad way to die. Bring friends, preferably a Necro whom can just call your body back when it gets lost.

My lvl 14 Human Monk was in Befallen today, and he ran across these. These things were quite a bit higher than the posted level range 13-15.

Their pets conned red to my 14 Monk. The acolytes themselves were virtually untouchable, I would hit for 1hp every few rounds.

Also, I don't know whether the Dark Elf ones drop DE Meat, but I killed a Gnome one and he dropped Gnome Meat.
yumm...

These guys are NOT hard, especially for a trusty ol' Rogue like me. I nailed one of these guys at 13, although 'twas with two borrowed crystallized spider fangs... I have just one word of advice for you newcomers to this place, and that is FOR GOD'S SAKE, DONT FALL DOWN THE WELL OR YOU WILL DIE A PAINFUL, PAINFUL DEATH. THIS GUY WILL COME UP TO YOU WITH ABOUT FIVE OF HIS FRIENDS AND ALL OF THEIR PETS AND YOU WILL DIE BEFORE YOU EVEN SEE IT COMING. as a moral to this story, use the stairs.

Yes, you can kill these guys without taking faction hits in your hometown. The only faction hit you take is with Befallen Residents.

Acolytes are evil. I hate acolytes. They don't have very much HP, but their pets interrupt all your spells. Also, there tends to be an attack by the other undead in the room like mummies and those dread bones. Acolytes cast Fear1, Fear2, (both are easily resisted, I resist every one with 38MR) Engulfing Darkness, Clinging Darkness, and a poison spell i forgot the name of. Malec gave a good hint! Blast the Acolyte to ash very fast or you are dead.
Look out!

These guys are really bad news for a 14th lvl cleric. Don't follow the typical mentality that you need to kill the pet first. KILL THE ACOLYTE FIRST. And preferably before they get off the nasty spells that they cast. Also, they hit for about 30points a pop. The pets however are relatively east compared to the necro itself. And you don't want more than one at a time ...ewww bad stuff!
