A little tidbit that isn't really useful in 2020, Dirtchomp is immune to non-magical weaponry.

Yes, he is 28. Conned even for me, Vah Shir Warrior. Pretty good armor and duel weilding 12/24 one handers. 1128hp unbuffed. Got him down to 40% before I tucked tail and barely made it to gaurds lol. Weak poison too. Temped I coulda owned him. Hits for 40 to 60.

Conned lt blue to my 39 bard. Tried to melee, fear kite, and eventually chant kited him. Hits very hard for his level. Poison proc is nasty. High resists to magic and fire. Didin't have anything else to try. Couldn't get snare to land. Chants would often be resisted but not always.

Saw this fellow on track (36 ranger, decent gear, not twinked, good weapons) as I was just running through the zone after finishing a quest. I thought "What the hell? He might drop something nice". Well, let's just say that "What the hell?" quickly turned to "Oh Hell!". Hit me with some nasty poisons and if I recall correctly he resisted every snare I tried to land. I wasn't full health when I found him, but was up around 80-85%. When I zoned I was at about 20%, and luckily the guards killed him for me. I didn't get him below 50% before I ran screaming. Don't underestimate this guy.
...and Gorehorn
# Sep 19 2002 at 10:40 AM Rating: Decent
Taken him out once, and Gorehorn a couple of times as a 37 bard. I found I stand very little chance in melee, particularly against gorehorn, so I take my time and kite them down less than 1/2 a bub of health before moving in. They do have a lot of health, and I didn't time it, but wouldn't be surprised if it took me 10 minutes or more for Gorehorn and like 5-10 for Dirtchomp.

1. Pulled out drum and used selo's and curtailing chant (both drum based) to get them to 1/2 a bubble of health.

2. Got out weapons and put up an amplified psalm of warmth before meleeing.
Resistant little bugger...

Gang,

Do not underestimate this guy. I was grouped as a 37 druid with a 35 beastlord. We were easily taking out 2 dark blue owlbears at a time. I checked track and saw this light blue con. We went over there and the beastlord intercepted him. I tried my normal DoT/snare/DD combo.

No dice.

After several failed snares and DD, I was lower on mana than I should have been. Warned the beastlord I was LOM, but he continued engagement. His pet went bye-bye, then he went bye-bye. Only thing that saved me was SOW and a kind stranger near Shar Vahl. Of course, Gore was down to 1 bub health, and I was that or less. Full aggro on me, so the assistant wasn't hit at all.

Big resistance for one so low of a con.

Should have sat back, and just healed my tank, like a good pseodo-cleric...hehehe...

All the info you need on Dirtchomp and Gorehorn

All right, I have this down to a science. I hope this helps.

Both Gorehorn and Dirtchomp can be found in Hollowshade Moor, right near the Shar Vahl entrance. They always spawn on the RIGHT side of the road (facing AWAY from the city) before the water. If you look on the map of the place, this gives you a little triangle area. I saw Gorehorn spawn at +19, +2142, but I do not believe he spawns in the same place all the time, since his placeholders spawn all over this area.

The placeholders for both Gorehorn and Dirtchomp are the AGGRESSIVE (for newbies, that means the monsters that will attack you on sight) rhinobeetles and rockhoppers. What this means is, every time you see an aggressive rhinobeetle, it could have been Gorehorn. Every time you see an aggressive rockhopper, it could have been Dirtchomp. Most of the rhinobeetles and rockhoppers won’t attack you if they are green to you. Some of them, the AGGRESSIVE ONES, will always attack, and these are the placeholders for Gorehorn and Dirtchomp.

The most effective way to camp both of them is to get yourself a SOW, and run around attacking every rhinobeetle and rockhopper you see (don’t bother with track for this part) and then take them to the Vah Shir Training camp, where the guards will kill them all. At this point, check track for Gorehorn and/or Dirtchomp. You should also check tracking while you are training, just don’t use it to find mobs, it is too slow. Just run around and attack every rhinobeetle and rochhopper you see. I usually take no less than 6 at a time to the guards.

THERE IS NO SET SPAWN RATE FOR EITHER ONE OF THESE TWO! It is completely random. How do I know this? I farmed the area for 16 hours (8 hours, 2 days) and I found both of them to spawn in as little as 30 minutes apart, and as long as 3 hours. Both are random, and not related. I have 4 masks for my trouble (I hunt with 2 characters, and I had to make 2 mules in Shar Vahl. I have collected 2 masks in a row, both times, but I still think it is random each time, and I got lucky. It is my belief if you can spare 4 hours, you have a very good shot at getting at least 1 mask.

I am a level 40 Wood Elf Ranger. I hunt with my 53 Cleric (I have multiple accounts, and I use my laptop for the Cleric). At level 40, I have no trouble with Dirtchomp. With Gorehorn, I always need at least 1 heal from the cleric, sometimes more. Dirtchomp cons light blue to me at 40, and Gorehorn cons dark blue to me at 40. I was hunting there last night with a real life friend who is level 15. For him, the rhinobeetles and rockhoppers coned light blue and dark blue.

Dirtchomp drops a decent whip called a Severed Rockhopper Tail, the only trouble is it has an effect of ROCK MITES that effects the USER, not the TARGET. I have petitioned and got a GM who said he did not know if this was correct, and told me to send in a bug report, which I did. Still waiting on the results, will let you all know.

If you have any questions, please send me a tell in game, my character’s name on FENNIN RO is Iomhair (that is a capital i, not an L), and I will be more than happy to help you out.

Iomhair Othar
40th Level Ranger of Tunare,
Fennin Ro Server

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

PS- If this helps you, please rate it. Thanks. 8)

Just a heads up. Encountered him today with a lvl 52 druid... resisted every root or snare I threw at him (no immunity msg, so I have to assume I COULD have stuck one)... and saved against the vast majority of my Starfire damage... ended up just running him to guards because he was pissing me off... I HATE greens who resist.

I kill this bugger awhile back with my 54 monk and he dropped a tail. Was called something like "Tail of Dirtchomp". Stats werent the best, 7/24 1hs primary only, but it did have a proc: Burrowing Scarabs. Was told it was a DoT, but I cant say for sure since it was no drop and no one looted it on time to test it out. Killed him 2 times since and only had his leg on each drop.
not as tough as some say

Was blue to me as a 38pally. ran across him while running to shar vahl, was killing hoppers for the hides as i went along. i targeted and started whatcking on him before i realized he was named, and dark blue. i was at less then three bubbles health (about 1450hp at full) and only had endure magic up. with my sheildstorm and my newly acquired FBSS(best item i have ever won in a roll!), i dropped him fairly quickly. he does have a ton of HP, but he missed alot and only got me to 1 bubble before he died. he droped a MQ hopper hide and his leg. I didn't think he was that tough at all, even though many say hes an undercon. all my roots and stuns stuck, the few i had mana enough for.
