The Sorcerer-Kings of Eth did not fall to war or infighting, but to hubris. They sought to raise the Ethian race to godhood (Apotheosis). They built a tecnomagical device, at the site now known as Redoubt Tower, to gather the souls of the entire race and translate them into gods, but Maelforge's agents^[1] corrupted the device and, instead of empowering the souls, it unleashed them in a single blast of energy and, in an instant, Eth was no more.^[2]
