four things can happen when they use 'Cold Stare'.

1-
Text:
The Wild Dhalmel uses Cold Stare.
<name> is silenced.

Effect:
<name> gains the effect of 'silence', and is unable to cast spells.

2-
text:
The Wild Dhalmel uses Cold Stare, but misses <name>

Effect:
Nothing

3-
Text:
The Wild Dhalmel uses Cold Stare
Resist! <name> resists the effects of the spell

This is caused when the BRD job trait "Resist Silence" kicks in.

4-
Text:
The Wild Dhalmel uses Cold Stare
No effect on <name>.

Effect:
This ONLY happens when you look AWAY from it when it ses the ability, or in general, have your back turned to it.

Soloing them as a 12 BLM with pies/juices, usually don't even take more than 2 or 3 hits. Great experience. =)

Soloed as a level 18 Thief. Didn't cause much trouble, as long as you start with a Sneak Attack. Good exp too.

Even match and decent callenge for me... Level 16 Hume - Black Bage.

You just have to bind it and then blind it... 100 exp per kill.

Camping these are much better than wandering Valkurm for even matches.
Silence

going solo as a rdm 19 against these isn't bad, unless you get that damned silence ability :P
Silence ability

It's called "Cold Stare". Pretty aggravating too, but if I remember right, it only hits one target.
Good Experience

These mobs are great experience around Level 14 - 16 in a two person group (monk, red mage), and we were able to kill 2 or 3 in a row without much trouble. Even cons were easy to take without any TP, and the tough con ones were pretty easily killed using TP and Fusion or Liquefaction Skill chains.

They do have some special abilities which can cause you some problems, though. If you see them use the "Beserk" ability, the amount of damage they do to you per hit is going to almost double. They also have a silence ability (called Stone Stare, I think).
