I bought an eye cluster from a bazaar in Whitegate because i knew that some day I would need to get myself an OHat. I am not a crafter and basically I play a solo game. So tonight whilst getting some seeds for my gardening, I see a shout from a player I knew was a good and decent fellow. I took a chance and asked to join the run.
Leader kindly accepted me as a 70 BLU/RDM, after a little more shouting we headed to the temple and hence to the Den of Rancour, I had a "Paintbrush of the Souls" but had never been there before so Leader acted as guide for myself and 2 others. We had a party of, I believe 10 at the time. My sneak wore right in the middle of a bunch of slimes and the same thing happened to another player I requested that the party let me die as I had RR up. When I could, I raised and quickly cast sneak I was lucky and made it in time. Leader was there to guide me successfully to camp and returned to help some others including the downed player to our position. We buffed and cleared area with no trouble, We had two monks who were godly and tanked all but one of the attempts. No clusters lost, 7 hats obtained with one death due to Fireaga 3 during the battles. As you can imagine we were all pretty pumped, we had been randoming everytime the ??? was up to see whose cluster we would use next and after almost 4 hours, we had everyone their hats and were ready to go. Leader asked again as he had been doing periodicaly , if all had traded and gotten their hats, when a player who had joined us near the conclusion of the night, said he needed it. It had been a long night people were tired and yes, a little punchy so a bit of ribbing was going on and some people wanted to go. Somehow a mistake was made and some folks said goodbye and teled out, and others started to log. It suddenly dawned on us that we had indeed one more hat to get and now we were left with 6 players, not capable of fighting the NM with any great degree of hope for success . Regretfuly a decision was made to abandon the attempt with existing party, and for the leader and the player needing the OHat to return to Whitegate to continue seeking help to obtain the OHat. It wasnt really anyones fault but it did put a dampner on a very good night, The moral I think is that if you are on this run, indeed any run, make sure that everyone knows in what capacity you are with the party, in case when the time comes you find yourself loosing out. I was extremely sorry he didn't get his hat and would have stayed to help, if it had been possible.
