This sword going steady at 22mil on Remora. My LS has killed him 5 times and gotten 3 swords, I'd say we're pretty lucky XD I don't think the drop rate is suposed to be too good, but we had TH3 w/ us. Good luck to you hunters :)
just got this from my friend very nice, I agree that its better for higher lvl mobs. I also noticed that while I was fighting ep mobs, occasionally I was doing 28 dmg instead of 23 on enspells. when I get my hallow earring this is going to be great thx Dark for the sword :P
Joyeuse is definatly better for farming and fooling around with weak mobs you can hit easily and do full damage too, however I'm pretty sure enhancing sword is tremendously better for T/VT+ with the acc+8 and the attack+ you should hit more often and a lot harder, not to mention the extra enspell damage is very nice, its a large precentage compared to red mage base dmg on hard mobs. Just got hollow earring (because loc. and moldy > the other mage earrings) thats +3 sword enhancement dmg, XD I'd love to someday get this and slap on all my enhancing+ and a fencer's ring just to watch my enspells hit for 33+ dmg a pop lol. ; ; damn you kam'lanaut and your 60 damage enspells.
I cannot parser the damage. However, I can tell you about them both. Joyeuse>Enhancing Sword. Hands Down. When Duel Wielding them, the Enhancing Sword's En+ damage only occurs on the swings with the Esword. However, the Latent effect is triggered simply by having an En-spell active.
When not /nin, always use Joyeuse. Joyeuse TP gain and chances of 2 rounds of enspell damage just cant be beat by anything.
However, when /nin, Joyeuse should be used offhand, cuz Esword has higher dmg.
Enhancing Sword has hit 26mil on Garuda. I cannot honestly understand why someone would pay soo much for a sword. Due to the fact that it is my LS's policy to sell all HNM drops though I will more than likely never get it.
I have been hearing alot that Joyeuse is a better sword overall but I just don't know so I have a little experiment I am hoping someone can perform.
Can someone with both a Joyeuse and ES parser their damage against an EP and IT with each sword and relay the results? The tests should be done with an En-spell on. If anyone has the time and resources to test it I would like to see the results. I don't want to call in every favor I was ever owned to spend months camping for a sword which is worse than my current one. Thanks in advance.
And PS: Actually post a damage chart, words are vague, numbers are not.
As much as I love sifting through mindless and worthless information on the specific item forums to find that no one has posted a damn thing meaningful, I'll go out on a limb and ask...
E.sword!! can i have it!? ~_^ im tryin to get one so bad...but this HNM doesnt want to come out and play =.= /cry...and im not rcih enough to buy it...well ill never buy it anyways!! price is so crazy.. >_< Thanks fot the offer. but i'll have to pass!! :P
Stick with camping Gustav, it took me months of camping to get my Enhancing Sword. >_<
Yes, I now use Joyeuse as my main blade but whenever I sub NIN, Enhancing Sword is by my side with it.
Speaking from over six months of experience with this sword, I can heartily agree with the posters below that Enhancing Sword IS NOT WORTH THE INSANE AH PRICE. Yes, it's got great stats and it's pretty rare too but at the end of the day, you're better off camping Charybdis for a Joyeuse.
If you want to wield this blade because it's rare and prestigeous then by all means, camp it with friends so you don't have to pay the ungodly AH price because again, it's not worth it.
I tested E. Sword / Joyeuse vs. Martial Anelace / Joyeuse the other day...
basically, its nice, but the extra TP damage from Martial Anelace beat out the added damage from the E. Sword. Its definatly nice, but if you have the Joyeuse, and are going /nin, i'de go with martial anelace.
The only time I think that the E.Sword would be much better is fighting mobs with very high evasion, for the acc.
I'm WHM and I wish I had a Kraken... I would set it up as Darksteel Maul <~ Main, Then Kraken <~ Sub... Trust me for all u none believers of theKraken I can become a Melee WHM... :p atleast I would be able to Solo more being that the Kraken can give me more TP hense making life easier...
People think it's not worth it, but it is, even if you buy it at 75. It's the strongest, (auctionable) sword by far. Only way you're going to top this is if you get excalibur, which means you're insanely rich, patient and/or a FFXI fanatic. Some people argue that Joyeuse is stronger due to the double attack feature, but rdm shouldn't be seriously meleeing without /nin, which means enhancing sowrd + joyeuse. It works out to the same thing overall.
wow if i could buy a krakken club for ONLY 32mil id do it in an instant, i might even buy gil to get that, you could re-sell it for upwards of 150mil+ BUT SERIOUSLY anyone who disses krakken aint ever seen it action, TP gain is uhhh amazing uhhhh thats an understement too. 11dmg isnt the point, the point is to hit and gain as much TP so ure main weapon can Weapon skill every 10 seconds or whatever NOT to mention the en spells which make pretty much any weapon have atleast some dmg guarenteed.
no its not check this :P RDM/NIN w/ Kraken and Joyeuse with an En- spell it rocks anyway i dont think someone is using kraken to make dmg in first place its the TP gaining that count
haha, the club is dumb... ok think of it this way... imagine any NIN or sub NIN job with that, they could get 100TP in a couple seconds easily. it is not the dmg that makes the kraken so nice, it is the ability to build TP so quickly.
I've had this blade for about three months now and I love it. Ultimately, I'd like to dual wield Joyeuse with it but until then, I'm perfectly happy with Enhancing Sword.
My enspell damage goes from about 15 with other blades to 25-30 with Enhancing Sword, not too shabby when you figure in the decently low delay of this sword mixed with haste.
To any of my fellow Red Mages dreaming of having this sword, my advice is to stick with it. It took me over four months of camping and I fought Bune 11 times before I got the drop. Keep in mind, that's not including the 20 or so times I saw the claim taken by others and watched the sword drop to a group that I knew was going to sell it.
Bune does have a **** poor drop rate and to this day I think the only reason I got the drop 3 months ago was because a long time THF friend of mine got the last hit and it was on a full moon lightsday when the final blow was dealt.
This is a nice sword until you're ready to use a Joyeuse. I mean, 68-70 is a pretty decently sized jump. Might as well have the best weapon to do the job.

I got this sword recently cost me 15 Million but i think its a great sword and i kind of love it although i want to try out hte Joyeuse and Martial Anelace to see which one i prefer more. Although the DMG is very very sick on this the En-spell latent activated makes this sword very godly.
i want this sword.. so very much.. a lot of ppl say its not worth it, and with a 15mil price tag maybe it isnt, i wouldnt know i've never had that much. still.. me wantee. worst case scenario i sell it back, doubt that'll ever happen though
