DPM

DPM stands for "damage per mana." It is very similar to DPS, except that it focuses on efficiency related to mana rather than time. An ability that is very good for DPS might not be very good for DPM. For example, Smite deals more damage than Mind Flay, but it also costs more mana. The priest that is smiting would use up their mana sooner, and be doing -no- damage after that unless they had a way to restore mana. Although the one priest would do more damage initially, they would burn out. Thus, it is important to recognize if a battle is going to be a very long one or a very short one, and plan accordingly.
