I have never been in a room I wasn't in, but I imagine it would be a dreary, dreary room indeed, bereft of witty put-downs and incessant chatter. That room would lack a singular argumentative presence; it would lack an obstreperous force prepared to pounce at the faintest sign of rhetorical weakness. It would lack rambling soliloquies and high-minded self-righteousness. Worst of all, it would lack me.
