28 May - Einherjar

A new, massively multiplayer battlefield is in the works for the upcoming version update.

The following is a brief outline on the new, multi-faceted feature:

Concept

Einherjar is an ever-changing multiplayer battlefield based in the Hazhalm Training Grounds. Because the monsters appearing in the dungeons will differ with each visit, a balanced party consisting of skilled, high-level players is recommended to clear these challenging missions.

Participation
6 to 36 players, level 60 and above, can enter each chamber of the Hazhalm Testing Grounds. An item similar to the hourglass used for Dynamis will allow parties to reserve one of the multiple areas, and will be required for entry. No previous Aht Urhgan missions need to be completed before participating.

Battles

After a party chooses a room, they will have 30 minutes to wipe out all the enemies before being teleported back out of the area. This time limit cannot be extended. Each area consists of a large room filled with several weak monsters, and one powerful boss monster. Parties must eliminate all the monsters in the area for the mission to be considered complete. Clearing all the chambers will grant players access to the final area where they will finally learn the secrets that lie deep in the bowels of Hazhalm.

Rewards

An Assault-like system is planned, where points earned in the Training Grounds can be used to purchase various items. The monsters lurking within Hazhalm will also drop rare items that cannot be obtained anywhere else in Vana'diel.

Oh boy! I can't wait to see the new Shell Ring +2's !!!

I'm judging by the sounds of that, that if they are making this battle system the alternative method for abjurations, that they will be bought with points, and some kinda rare crap gear/items is gonna drop otherwise. I just hope they make it affordable, since they seem to be coming up with more and more ways to remove gil from the economy then put more back in. I'm really hoping they decide to go with Aht Urghan currencies as payment for the entry item, that'd be own.

Will be interesting to learn how few people will be ultimately necessary to make the trip worthwhile. Just because they say 6 people can participate, doesn't mean it's geared to work for 6 people.

looks like they are making a point to include "cast aside" jobs. the picture contains a pup, drg, drk, whm, blm, and then nin. Rather interesting if you ask me

Ever thought that may actually be a WAR not a DRK? I mean does holding a scythe explicitly mean its a DRK..?

Think this is where you'll be able to get the BLU/PUP/COR gear equivalent to the stuff we get from Dynamis?

Nah. They said "The release date for the new job's relic armor won't be released yet." Well, if it was here, we'd have gotten a "Relic armor is coming out in the June update" instead.

Highly possible, but at this time since they said they were still on the fence about AF2 for the new jobs, I would not expect it in this update.

It would be smart though! If they made Abjurations have a chance to drop, and the assualt rewards be decent, it would be easy to get people to do it for the Blu Cor and Pups in thier linkshell
Hmm...

I agree. I am pretty sure this is just an artist's rendering.

Is the female Hume supposed to be the SMN? It looks more like a WHM to me but idk. Maybe she is /SMN and has Ramuh out.

Either way it should be a nice addition for those players 60+.
Abj.?

Didnt really have time to read all the posts and speculations about this but has anyone suggested that this might drop Abj.? I HIGHLEY doubt SE made new sets of armor after releasing all of those assault armors and salvage armors and Nyuz Isle armor. It would seem to much...

so really.. whats the point of this?

It must be Abj!(Would be have to purchase it with an extrememe number of points? or maybe trade in ??? Items for a chance of the real item. Who knows!)

Hopefully i dont have to spend tags on these.. im busy enough with getting assault points for salvage.

it looks like it will eliminate player favorabilitie that plagues many battle field related dugneons. another words....no all ranger all blm tactics that most people enjoy so much.

About PUP, most monsters in dynamis/ bcnm's/ enm's, etc are actually pretty low level in comparison, just with very high stats due to their NM status. And pet jobs' pets do a whole lot more damage for every level the enemy goes down than we do. For example, ultima and omega in COP are middle low VT, just with humongous NM stats.

I can vouch for that. My debut run in conflict was very humbling. At like level 58 or something I was useless. When i would acutally land hits they were often for 0 damage. My Wyvern on the other hand was hitting fairly consistently and above what he normally would hit on IT++ mobs. It was thanks to him that i actually got anything out of the whole time in the conflict. So go go Pets for the WIN!

By 30 minute time limit, do they mean 30 minutes per room, or 30 minutes for the whole dungeon? Because the bosses better not eb too ahrd if it's the whole dungeon with that time limit. The dat miners said there was at least 5 rooms I believe, 5 bosses and their minions in 30 minutes with one party?! I sure hope it's actually possible, or the 6 minimum should be upped to whatever it really is to stop teasing us.

You only do one room per trip so 30 min per room.

Actually I was hoping the 6 minimum wasn't accurate the other way, that you could enter with any number of people 1-36 if you really wanted to, just to farm the rare items that only drop here. Just because you can't win with that many doesn't mean its pointless.

I appreciate them bringing along a Dragoon and a Puppetmaster along for the event. I'm happy that they convey the message that only ignorant bigots discriminate against jobs. If all the jobs weren't meant to participate in the game, why would the jobs have been created? I really appreciate the picture posted. This event sounds like fun.

I bet you it was because an artist made these screen shots.. Artists care nothing for game play usualy and just wanna make pretty stuff. thank god level 1 gear doesnt look good or im sure it would be in each screen shot.

Puppets rip them up because of it, because of their increasing strength as the enemy's level drops. (Same with BST pets wyverns and Avatars, ever see those 400 damage swings from carrie on too weaks, or 200 damage carby swings?)

Since we're supposed to clear the whole damn thing with possibly as little as a party in 30 minutes, my bet's on the monsters being low level, just like mission and assault NM's.

Also kinda hoping the point bought items are the abjurations "from other sources" they promised us, and the items the monsters drop are new ones. I don't care if you get 1000 points a run and abjurations are 100,000 points, at least you could slowly work towards them. If they are rare drops off the boss monsters, the supply isn't really going to go up much at all.

You know, the battlefield could be totally gimped out on mob Lv./abilities much like what they're going to do with Promyvion battles. That could explain why the dev. team is not all lying on top of each other. Also, there's nothing to indicate that the people didn't all end up lying on top of each other. cheers!
