The Harvest Festival will begin on October 19, and a new event named "The Dark Lilies" will be introduced along with the usual costumed fun! Bring your friends and join the festivities!

This event is scheduled to commence on October 19th at 17:00, and will last until November 1st, 0:00 (PST).

Event Locations
The Harvest Festival will take place in the following areas:

Southern San d'Oria/Northern San d'Oria

Windurst Waters/Windurst Woods

Event Stalls
Special stalls selling Harvest Festival goods will be available in the following locations:

Northern San d'Oria (D-8)
Port Bastok (L-8)

Special Event: The Dark Lilies
Talk to the exorcist NPCs in the following areas, and help them discover the secrets of the spirits terrorizing the towns.

Northern San d'Oria (D-8) Gertrude
Bastok Markets (G-8) Brian
Windurst Waters (F-5) Roger

*Please note that after completing a request from one of the exorcists, you will be unable to undertake another request until one Vana'diel day has passed.

Costumed NPCs
Trade treats to the NPCs in monster costumes and see what happens!
You might be transformed into a beastman, or even receive a special item!

*In general, "treats" are any sweets that can be made with cooking. Please note that there are some types of sweets that NPCs will not accept.
*While in costume, you will be unable to use items or magic, or open doors.
*To take off a costume, simply cancel the costume status icon or change areas.

Bomb Decorations
During the Harvest Festival, you will see decorations resembling the bomb monster.
See what happens when you approach these decorations in a party of two people wearing a certain combination of costumes...

*Try talking to the Moogles that appear in town during the event. They might have some clues for you!

the description above is great for the ghost part of this event, but silly me, I can't figure out at ALL how the other part works.

are we supposed to team up with other players in specific costumes and do something?
Pitchforks!?!?

so far ive got both the hts from the quests, pumpkin heads I, and II, and treat staffs I,and II. but i cant figure out how to get a pitchfork because i really really really want one and from what ive read, people are saying the bomb decorations may give you it but i havent seen any bomb decorations, so if anyone could tell me exactally how to get one, it would be amazing

Basically a problem that comes up is knowing when its ok to leave the witches alone, some people stick around too long, and more often then naught, people leave too early. I'm compiling a speech resevoir to help people know how far they are in that specific ghost. Besides, their speeches are just interesting.

Also, if you don't hear "You hear a voice speaking softly..." when you come into proximity of these ghosts you don't have the quest active. Once you hear the last line you can return to the npc and recieve your Witch Hat. For the second ghost, and your Coven Hat, you must wait one Vana'diel day and talk to the exorcist wearing your Witch Hat.

If you throw away your Witch Hat after obtaining your Coven Hat, and wish to either redo a Witch Hat ghost, do a new Witch Hat ghost or want a new Witch Hat, you will recieve a Witch Hat after completing that ghost.

If you approach an exorcist with a Witch hat or Coven Hat equipped, you will start the Coven Hat ghost, if not, you will start the Witch Hat ghost.

If you have a ghost's prize (either Witch Hat or Coven Hat) upon completion of that ghost you will instead recieve a number of Papillions in respect to the type of ghost you help to exorcise.

If you talk to a Moogle that is selling Jack O'Lanterns while wearing a Coven Hat, you will be able to buy Halloween-theme furniture for your house at 10,000 gil per piece.

If you get the line:
[Dark Lily Name]:!!!
You... you are no monster!

You will revert to your normal self and will have lose your costume. The exorcist says you must wait a time and the witches will forget, that is a blatant lie, these witches are dumb, get a new costume and you can pick up where you left off. The only time this will not result in failure is if you have heard the last line of that Dark Lily, then you are done with that part of the quest and can ask the exorcist about your prize.

There are three ways to approach them in costume:
1. Get in costume, go to the area, hope you are to their back.
Pros-
Quickest way
Cons-
Most easy way to lose
2. Wait at an NPC in costume and change as the witch passes.
Pros-
Safest way
Cons-
Takes patience
3. Grab a costume from a Trick NPC as they pass the ghost.
Its a mixed bag of the other two.

Exorcist locations:
Gertrude : Northern San d'Oria (D-8)
Brian : Bastok Markets (G-8)
Roger : Windurst Waters (F-5)

Ghost locations:
Poseaulloie (Witch Hat) around the Parade Ground area, North San d'Oria

Bikho Ronpotteh (Witch Hat) around Huntsman's Court, Windurst Waters (North map)
Guwanana (Coven Hat) H~I-6~8, Windurst Waters (South map)

NPCs for way 2:
Antonian (J-8) North San d'Oria
Vichuel (F-4) North San d'Oria
Ahyeekih (H-10) Windurst Waters (North map)
Maqu Molpih (H-8)Windurst Waters (South map)
(There are no NPCs that I've noticed good for either Bastokan ghost, so try way 3.)

In this town... that I once loved...

Pretty Heart: You... go back...
Back to the exorcist...
Tell him... I am ready... to leave...

End

Bikho Ronpotteh: A place... that nobody knew...

Bikho Ronpotteh: The perrrfect spot...

Bikho Ronpotteh: An enchanted spot...
So many fish...

Thank you for the info on this....I think there were issues with doing this quest in Sandy last night hence the emergency update....just a guess. Here is some info on what I tried and what has worked.

When following the ghosts it is important that you do not let them see you. If they do notice you they will say "Hey you are no monster" and your costume will automatically disappear. Stay behind the ghost at all times and when they start turning to look around, turn with it to stay behind it. You know you are done listening when they tell you " I know you are there...." followed by whatever each spirit says. Once you complete the first one for the city you are in talk back to the NPC and get your Wizards Hat. Do the same thing for the next ghost but you have to wait one game day to do the next one. The second one is harder because of the much tighter area they walk in and turn around alot more. Also if you do not have a costume there is no point of following one of the Lillies. You will not hear anything so it is pointless. All you are doing is getting in the way of someone in costume trying to stay behind the ghost and obstructing their veiw from seeing when the ghost turns around.

I had an easier time getting some items in Bastok rather than Sandy. Trade Goblin Chocolate to a Trick Wight right when they were on the stairs by Metalworks and got Pumpkinhead II. Traded an Apple Pie to a Trick Shadow going down the stairs in front of the Goldsmith Guild and got Pumpkinhead I. Not sure if the stairs play a role in this or not. If someone can actually figure what treats work best to trade and get more details then please share. Hope this is some help

Idk all the sweets you use but but basic sweets work. i.e. cookies chocolate, etc. Trade to the exorcist NPC then find the ghost NPC they tell you to seek out. Now just follow them while in costume, when they stop, they will say something then a few sec later start moving again. After you hear everything they say (they wont say anything more once you have heard all that they have to say) return to the NPC and he'll give you your Witch Hat. If you get in their line of sight they will see through your costume aka True Sight :P. Also the messages are cumulative, so if you hear one and then they see you the message still counts as having been heard. This is what I've seen from my experience. You can only trade the same sweets once per game day too.

Its a decoration, they were there during last year's event. They were used to get the pitchforks.

Although it would be funny if they self-destructed every time someone with a ? next to their name ran by.

What do you mean by the town being littered with bodies after getting close to the bombs?
it says that,"During the Harvest Festival, you will see decorations resembling the bomb monster.
See what happens when you approach these decorations in a party of two people wearing a certain combination of costumes..."

How can a "decoration" of a bomb monster kill you?

maybe it rewards you for figuring out the combination of costumes?

anyone know?

Sounds almost exactly like the other Halloween events, with some bombs that explode when you go near or something. Oh well...
