Besieged Adjustments

The next version update will bring several changes to Besieged, including level 6 forces, temporary items distributed at the outset of battle, and increased experience points and Imperial Standing credits.

Changes to Besieged

Since the July version update that strengthened the beastman forces, Besieged battles have become longer and the benefits of participating decreased. In the next version update, the following measures will be introduced to provide more balance to Besieged:

Level 6 Forces

The enemy forces will soon be able to increase to 160, and level 6 Besieged will be added. Level 6 Besieged will include notorious monsters that lead the enemy forces and other new enemies.

Temporary Items

When Besieged begins, all participating players will be given temporary items, of which there are 15 varieties. The temporary items correspond to the 15 NPCs that can be taken prisoner during Besieged.

For example, when the Skyserpent General Rughadjeen is participating in battle, the temporary item "carnal incense" will be distributed to all players in the area.

Unused temporary items will disappear when Besieged ends.

Experience Point/Imperial Standing Changes

- Rewards for Participation
The amount of experience points and Imperial Standing players receive for taking part in Besieged will increase, and a bonus will be given to all participants at the end of Besieged for defeating the notorious monsters that lead an enemy force.

The higher the level of the enemy forces, the more experience points and Imperial Standing players will receive.

- Retaking the Astral Candescence
The battlefield to retrieve the Astral Candescence became more difficult after the rate at which archaic mirrors appear increased. To encourage more players to tackle the battle, experience will no longer be lost in the event of KO in the battlefield to retake the Empire's greatest treasure.

# Oct 13 2006 at 11:06 AM Rating: Decent
It would be really nice to get 5K Exp for a Besiegend Attack if we win, and otherwise nothing. 5K for 1 Battle sound faire, thats the same what we can get in a PT somewhere out of the Area.

Lower Level should be a little bit guarded, 1 Slap and you hit the Face in the dirt.

LOL, and what happend to the Poor AFK Guys^^( Bazzar closed because Besiegend )

What i know is that im useless like a LVL 60PLD/WAR!!!

I think this is just another reason people will need to team up, I think its worth the extra %15 XP. That extra little bit turns into a lot of Xp once you get into a good party or even a 1/2 bad party will still give you decent xp. A good way to keep these lvl 6 mobs from attacking would just to party more in target areas

This really says to me that we're going to lose more and will need to retrive the astral candence. I mean, stronger beseiged + it's easier to get back the astral candence? yea... come on, we all know what SE is planning now.

wow, level 6 huh. I was in besieged not long ago, where it was Medusa vs 100 people in zone, and she was killing people right and left. Last time I was in on a besieged, we were kind of low, I think we were like 400 people, and we won with our backs to the candescence. I am not even going to try and get in on an undead besieged at level 6. Let them take it and we can try and get it back later. I will go exp in sky or bibiki bay or something

well...all that is left is to wait if the Exp gain will be significant now...if it isnt the whole update is a failure...nuff said.

If an NPC is prisoner, he will not be there during besieged, and thus will not give a temporary item. Using the items has no effect on exp.

Wow you have a neat little poem about the accomplishments of another player? Is this something you wrote yourself? Or did you think it was clever and wanted to post it for others to see so they would think you were clever? Straight weak-sause kid. Don't quote others to simply make them look bad. People like you are the ones who take what others do, reiterate it, and try to make it your own. Plus this is just a game, and people who make an effort to put others down ruin the experience for everyone. I have an idea. Why don't you move to China and be a gil seller? Since you like to damper situations and all.

I honestly have mixed feelings about the update

The temp items are a good idea, the reward for killing the NMs is a bad idea.

As it is now, people kill the NMs, ignore the smaller mobs and we lose. After the update *everyone* will focus on the NMs, while the normal mobs will rape the generals then waltz in and grab the AC.

Honestly, I wish the NMs weren't even there. All they do is create a distraction. Right now you don't even need to hit them to win besieged, just focus on the normal mobs and keep the generals alive and you'll win eventually.
more of the same im afraid

hmmmm spend an hour fighting mobs..... i expect 3k+ in an exp party but im supposed to be happy with 700exp?? {no thanks}

before the changes i was at every single besieged i could posibly be in... hell i would even sleep afk in al zhabi and listed for the music and wake up if i could.

it used to be OMG i missed a besieged??

now i litterally run from besieged pay 10k for tele's the hell out of there etc etc.

In all honesty i dont think it has anything to do with peak/nonpeak hours as far as why my server its cause Besieged SUCKS! sooooooooo not worth the headache

before the update you had to be in zone 30 min ahead of time or you wouldnt get in..... the zone ALWAYS reached capacity no matter what time of day.

Lord i hope that SE is making good changes that will make besieged fun and worth while but i highly seriously doubt it.

Sorry SE I've lost faith in your updates.

Temp items appear in your item list ABOVE your own items in a brown color and with a TEMP icon. They do not take up space (I think they are actually part of the zone)

For each of the 15 NPCs you will get a temp item, assuming they are in town at the start of besieged. This means that freeing prisoners becomes more important, especially the generals.

I'm disappointed though, that they didn't adjust the mirror guards. They do anything BUT protect the mirror... (like wandering all over the place and killing HELMers... as if the NMs weren't enough...)

I sah that yeasterday when i startet in Game. Players popped slowly and than @.0' a strange musik i never heared. BESIEGEND, OHHH My God we are all lost, evak all Childe and Woman, everywhere Panik !!!! I run with my low PLD59/WAR around and tryed to Hit the Lizardmen too, lol no chance to win a Hit only with Banish II or Holy. For Low Level Player like me, that's crazy to try to get even in the near of them.

But this new System of Besiegend sounds cool, i hope im ready than with my PLD 75 when its starts (only in my Dreams )

PS: Do Player get stuff in Inventory even if they are Full ? ^^

Interesting changes but still more death on the players part. Hell, if I am gonna fight as a merc and die, I NEED PAYMENT. I want gil or the money used in Aht Urghan (sp). Hell, I kill goblins for fun and I get paid for it in gil, why not pay the players in Besieged in gil or something. Something like 500-2000 gil or 1-2 bronze pieces. Depending on if you engage NMs or fight the masses or help the generals live.

RMT/Gil Sellers - the already did what I suggested long time limit fund transfers. However, they should do what the Feds do, monitor more wire tranfers (Delivery Box) AND hell, monitor the players with excessive gil. Follow the money route and you will see the buyers and sellers. They can do this by running routines in the system. Log the transfers between the richest players and others, monitor them. If a player sits on 100M for 3 months bets are he is not a RMT but a greedie little punk. If player sits on 100M for 2 days, he is more likely to be an RMT or a drug dealer. Its based on pattern recongization like NSA and CIA have done for phone calling.

My spelling sucks today... sorry.

We get paid now, just not directly. For participating, you receive an equal amount of exp and Imperial Standing. The Imperial Standing you receive can then be exchanged for Imperial currency ( the money used in Aht Urghan ), which, if you don't need them, can be sold for...gil.

Personally, I love the financial benefit of participating in Besieged. As far as that goes, I'm happy. I just wish they would raise the experience point reward a little higher than it currently is (which they are, but we'll see how much).

Edit: Spelling!

I agree with Imperial Standings and Experience points but I think a bronze piece or silver piece would also be nice too for helping kill the NM or protect the generals or defending the "orb of humming you can not hear".

I am just saying mercs get paid in the real world so I think we should get some reward also since the imperial currency can only be used in Aht Urghan. I mean trade in my IS for currency? Then should I not be able to turn in my CP for gil? BTW, I have over 100,000CP and it would be nice if I could trade that in for some serious gil besides items, lol. I dont leave the city without signet, and now I dont leave Ali Baba's without sanction, lol.

700 standing is equivalent to a decent sum of money. If you had to pick between Imperial standing and an equal sum of money you should be picking the standing since it has more flexibility.
Sweet!!!!

Oh, yay, even stronger monsters that will come at 1:30pm EST and take the Astral Candescence while there are only 70 players in Al Zahbi. Not that I think SE should tailor Besieged to happen only during peak hours- that's not realistic (well, neither is a force of lizard people storming a city to take an orb). It just always seems to happen during off-peak times, when there are few players in the zone to help. I'm thinking that it's either a lack of available players or the fact that the EXP reward isn't so great...

Quote:

...but hopefully this will help. It just sucks to defend Al Zahbi for an hour and get (at most) 700exp. I'm curious to see how much this increase of theirs really is! If it's decent, hopefully it will encourage more participation.

Edit: In keeping with the current, apparent theme of the posts here, I would like to say that gilsellers suck. <Thank you.>

Stop worrying about gil sellers and enjoy the content they are adding. Besieged sucking less? Sounds great to me. The only effective RMT countermeasure is simple and within the hands of the player base: stop buying gil. SE can't deliver that in an update, so stop expecting it.

Now people will have *real* incentives to actually take back the AC. They should raise the exp bonus to like, 1k >.>

Maybe that's greedy, but.. Shiva sucks at retaking prisoners and the AC... we lose the AC about once per week or so.

Though, the rehash of Ballista items is kinda cheap... I hope they put in new temporary items in addition to them. Carnal Incense nulls all physical damage for about 20 seconds... Let's see if I can remember... Spiritual Incense nulls magical damage... and.. What's that ranged attack one called... Celestial Incense? I bet all these will be in there. I also hope they'll include the Giant Drink and the Revitalizer :D

Maybe even the TP wing... I forget the name of that one. Not Icarus, it's named something else...

Anyways, before I got off-topic, I say this is probably going to lure more people to take part... only reason why I haven't been going is because of the huuuuuuge exp loss... I hear people delevel from full exp into 75 to 74 in one night. Not good...

Incentives make the world go 'round, even in Vana'diel.

Right! That was always the dreeeaaam item to get in Ballista... Though, ever since Besieged started, I've only seen a single Ballista after... ; ;

Omg, imagine a monk with about 3k HP going into Besieged and getting a Giant Drink, and then his/her HP would go to like, 5k... /drool on self...

This one time in Ballista, I drank a Giant Drink right as Ballista was ending.. and I took an Elixir... and then when it was over, I had about 20 minutes to enjoy my 3k HP, xD

I love getting off-topic...
