Fresh, well not fresh, but recent e-mail / movie that I received from Stag, err Oxhorn.
    When Prince Arthas became the Lich king, his mind held sway over the corrupted creatures and peoples of Azeroth. But during a moment of weakness, one of these individuals freed herself from the mind of the Lich King. The Night Elf Sylvanas then used her will to break the chains that bound many of the corrupted to Arthas' will. These freed souls became the Forsaken, forever in debt to the Dark Lady's gift. This film tells of their birth. Birth of the Forsaken was selected as a Dance finalist in the Xfire Machinima contest and contributed to Oxhorn's winning of the Special Prize Award. Love how the movie was paced and the location scenery. The music was an excellent choice indeed... Very nicely done overall.

I thought Ner'zhul became the Lich King? I could be wrong...


EDIT... Ner'zhul indeed became the Lich King after his brutal physical death at the hands of Kil'jaeden the demon, however his spirit was left alive. Put in a frozen block of ice and hurled to Azeroth, it came to be known as the Frozen Throne because of the shaping the ice block received on its journey.

Where Arthas comes into the Lich King's service, he had tracked down the source of the Plague and had intended to end the threat. He took up the cursed runeblade named Frostmourne, thinking to use it to this end, but it stole his soul and transformed him into the greatest of the Lich King's Death Knights.

Therefore...Prince Arthas was not in fact the Lich King, but the highest of his generals.
