Downtime; Patch Notes for February 22, 2006

This is a message from EQLive: ============================================= All EverQuest servers will be coming down at 4:00 AM PST (-8 UTC) on Thursday 2/23/2006 for an update. Estimated downtime is 3 hours. Due to issues that are being investigated with Guild Hall and Guild Banks, the Guild Halls will be unavailable for use. We do not have an ETA at this time for when Guild Halls will be available again. ============================================== This is a small patch message from this morning's downtime (February 22, 2006): ============================================== - Fixed server stability issues. Please accept our apologies if you were on one of the unstable servers. - Fixed the old alchemy potions that were not casting at the proper level. - Corrected an issue that was preventing Elixir of the Avian from stacking with Elixir of the Beast. These should now stack properly. *Please note: We are still investigating the issue with items disappearing from the Guild Bank. The Guild Hall zone will be unavailable while this investigation continues. -- The EverQuest Team

You could always go outside and do something else. Mabey hang out with your friends who are wondering what mysteriously happened to you after you started playing everquest. Seriously, there are better ways to spend your time than sitting in front of a monitor for 8+ hours everyday. It's amusing to read about all these fiends jonesing for their digital crack. Sounds like some of you need to take a break for a few weeks.

Heh, shut the hell up and get back to Truth.com and vERB commercials where you belong. You are no all knowing outside observer, you're posting on a message thread attached to a news story about a minor patch of a game you tell other people they should be as lazy about playing as you are obviously. So just hush up and let the status quo of complaints about downtime flow like normal...

So, am I an "outside observer" or am I a "lazy" everquest player? At least don't contradict yourself. My point is that there are other things you can do that are as much, if not more, fun than playing a video game. Complaining about the extended downtime on this forum is pointless because as soon as the game comes back up you, and all the other people who are complaining, will be logging back on for your fix. Complaining about downtime never made a difference to Sony in the past and I fail to see how it will now.

why is it after 7 years people still complain about a couple days.. or a couple hours they dont get to play, count how many hours you do play EQ a month and divide the 14.99 or what ever you pay.. and im sure most will see you pay mere pennies an hour so you dont get to play for a few hours lol want a refund on your lost playing time, .. go pick up a quarter on the ground and theres your refund :P....
It's all about management
# Feb 23 2006 at 3:45 PM Rating: Decent
It's not the fault of the programmers, tho' they are the easiest to blame. It's Management. It's ALWAYS management tho' the bloody beancounters can ***** anything up at any time. I didn't test PoR on the test server, I, like all EQ customers presumed SOE did use the test server. Apparently not. Nor did they use The List to keep track of requirements prior to PoR release. Rather than be honest and admit PoR was NOT ready for release, the beancounters (bankers) demanded release on time. If you want to holler, call your banker!

You would think after all these years and with EQ2 getting its *** kicked by WOW they would be able to release an exp and not F+ck up. Take a lesson from Blizzard if its not ready then do not release it. Please after all these years of loyal game play and the fact that most of us have more than one account, Sony you should have more pride as a company than to put this crap out. Shame on you SOE.

Heh, I'm glad WoW is doing so well. For me it has become my new avoidance topic. The second I learn anyone has anything to do with that piece of excrement I immediately ignore them for the rest of their life because it speaks all about what they really are. Can't wait for the EQ servers to come back up!...

I understand that people make mistakes.... but this many in a row? and at the players expense... they keep it up, and they gonna loose a lot more than just lunch time.... BTW, i hope they got something better than double experience weekend in store for the players... cuz i think i can speak for a lot of other players like myself... i dont too much care for paying for multiple accounts and playing on "Sony's" time. take care

LOL, in 6 years of playing I would say patches/fixes from this expansions release thus far rates on the high side of good.
Appearently most of you werent around when LoY went live.
But I imagine many are upset because this reduces the amount of time available to exploit err I mean experience the inevitable bugs err I mean new content before It gets nerfed err I mean fixed.

What I would like to know is..... WHY can't these guys at SOE ever stick to their OWN timeline for server restoration?? I am currently playing in Central European Time and I know without a doubt that during a patch (which happens to be in the middle of play time) that I am not going to be playing for HOURS after their supposed restoration times... What is the problem here?? Can anyone help me???

LOL maybe someone should petition SOE to refund part of the money we spend on these accounts... Now that would help soften the blow for all these damn "FIXES". What do you guys think?

face it, soe spits out expansions and breaks more stuff than they can implement. they could give 2 ***** cause they're still getting paid.
why have a test server when you don't properly utilize it? so yeah F soe and their expansions, in a month the new expansion and all the stuff MIGHT be fixed. dont count on it though
Surprised with the Lag...
# Feb 23 2006 at 7:43 AM Rating: Decent
Logged into NRo (camped from LDON) and I was surprised at how much lag I was getting. I have a decent computer (2.66ghz, 1G RAM, good 128M video card, DSL) and it was just me looking around. Nice scenery, but I feel bad with those people who may have slower systems.
Beta?
# Feb 23 2006 at 7:36 AM Rating: Decent
People who were playing on the test server said that SOE was still having issues on the test server the week before the expansion was released. I find this totally irresponsible on SOE's part, they should have known that they were releasing a product that was not ready.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA

During the Mac Beta, we told SOE that PoP access was broken. Did they fix it? Yup.....over 1 year later. This is the reality. The games will be pushed out *on time* regardless of how complete it is. It's then up to the programmers to fix their mistakes AFTER the release, since the sales of the expansion will finance the programmers OVERTIME!

Not all zones can be accessed during the beta testing. The Guild hall and Lobby were not accessable so problem woul have only been found on test or live servers.

UUUUGGGG- Thought they would had a test server, to test out new software prior to releasing to the paying public, or at least install on one or two servers to isolate problems. Would had thought a company like sony would be more responsible and professional.

Heh, I guess you've never participated in beta then. The test server is strictly for non expansion related updates, it's for testing. The actual beta server comes up and is available to people who have their accounts enabled to access it through the special patcher. Test server is not Beta...
