Patch 1.6.1

Edit: We will have the patch available for download for premium users shortly. Thanks to DraigCoch for getting this info for us!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - World of Warcraft Client Patch 1.6.1 (2005-08-02) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- General - Spell casting is no longer interrupted when leaving combat. Warriors - Improved Shield Block - Fixed a bug where Rank 3 of the talent was not granting the extra block. - Bloodthirst - Damage bonus increased to 40% of attack power. Items - The Oil of Immolation effect is no longer affected by bonuses to spell damage from items. Raids & Dungeons - Blackwing Lair Several encounters in Blackwing Lair now cause the front gate to close, preventing players from zoning out or joining an in-progress battle. The Razorgore encounter has been changed slightly to make it less "random". The spawning should be more consistent throughout the fight. The timer for Vaelastrasz the Corrupt is now more persistent. You can no longer reset the one-hour time limit for beating him by leaving the instance. Also, Vaelastrasz the Corrupt will not respawn for 12 hours if he has not been beaten when the timer expires. The drakes in Blackwing Lair will no longer leave the lab. -Maraudon Lowered experience values for Creeping Sludge. Macs - Increased the maximum number of sounds which can be played simultaneously. This will fix problems where some sounds could be dropped in very busy situations. - Fixed WoW Error Reporter so that it doesn't crash under Mac OS X 10.4 when trying to send an error report. - Worked around an issue where you would lose your Expose/Dashboard preferences if you crashed or asserted while in fullscreen mode on Mac OS X 10.4. - Fixed the "blockWidth", "srec", and "bitnum < m_numBits" assertions bugs that would crash the game. - Fixed a bug involving corpses near the player that could result in a crash ("BusError").

omg. so much ******** about AXP loss in grinding slimballs?.. ERrm.. try grinding with rogue. priest, pala, shammy, druid you name it..
youl go OMG this suck I gein 50% lesser xp per hour!.. Get a beer and stuff it.
-----------
GG Blizzard for fixing errors and the shield block :D
and I have a mage that I tried spamming aoe and Yes!: I think mage aoe is great XP grind, but its damn unfair compared to my other chars.
--------------

So Now I play priest and every fight is exciting, thou I gain LESS XP, Im happy to be with the rest of the "nerfed" Peple out there.

PS: Just make aoe = less xp for all classes(warrior, mage, warlock, totems, and other aoe effects), and you gonna loose all the aoe xp grind very fast.
Less xp but hte same damage.

Ah nevermind. omg Im not better then everyone else on somthing .. Anyway..

All nerf us priest! Our heals rox! so nerf us!

Edit: was about to edit typeerrors, but I dont care. Thats my rage's fault and it felt great!

elite fighting
# Aug 02 2005 at 8:15 PM Rating: Decent
as a mage i have only hard times fighting elites, i struggled just to take one down, one that was 10 levels lower than me. This isnt the case now, but i can barely drop one of my lvl now. However, i have yet to see another melee class take on an elite of his or her lvl and not end up anhillating the enemy. I think that mages are screwed when it comes to fighting elites and we should just be happy that we can take on more than one if we spec right.
This is amazing...

This is an awsome patch, they should lower any type of mages, priests, whatver to lower their AOE. I am a warrior and I basically can die in 2 seconds to a mage because they are so strong....I'm a lvl 41 now and my friend who is a mage exactly when I started is a lvl 60 already. Note that we started less then a month ago.

This post is just stupid.

I have yet to see a priest's effective AOE spell, and why do you die to one.

Second, wich hits can kill you in 2 hits, I highly doubt 2 crits would even take you to half your hp.

I've died to 1 hit kills by warriors (crit around 5k), so should I screem "nerf nerf" here?
In a way

i understand mages... When you see high-lvl characters, you're nearly "compelled" to have ONE talent specialization (Healing for druids, fire-spells for mages) and as soon as there's another possibility, it's reduced. On the long run, all members of one class will be the same, with no variety :(

They'd better to leave mages in peace... and to boost the others classes ^^

Half-way patch

When was this hunter buff coming? I can only hope in the next patch.

And gratz for improving macs as I had been having pretty nasty problems.

And why are you complaining you don't get as much xp for killing 5 elites at once? Surely you see the balance issues there?

I have one complaint. Fix the dupe bugs.
You guys are hilarious!!

I can understand if some fundamental part of your character has become unstable or flat out stops functioning, you may want to say a little something, let your knickers get in a twist a little bit.
However, I just spent the last 10 minutes googling where exactly Blizz stated that one of a mages abilities is to press a button to gain huge experience!

Where exactly in what talent tree is the button that sais "Click to WIN!"?

I understand that this has removed your ability to gain experience really fast and that sucks its true, but, it wasn't "intended" to be that way.

I think it's about time to build a bridge and get over it!

Besides I'm SURE some wunderkind will discover a new cheap 'n' easy way to grind out experience and then blizzard will have something new to muck with.

Stop crying.

Why are you guys complaining about that slime xp nerf? If I remember correctly they are elites and no class should be able to kill multiple elites for xp.
You should be thankful you can kill more then one elite at a time (even if its only one or two types) while most other classes struggle to drop one.

Stop picking things apart so you can find things to ***** about.
woo hoo a patch for nothing

AOE from mages
# Aug 02 2005 at 2:57 PM Rating: Good
It hasnt actually made you less able to fight multiple enemies atall, cant see how you worked that out, and i doubt they lowered it that much and you are the only class that can actually effectively fight multiples so quit complaining.
Cannot aoe?????
# Aug 02 2005 at 2:41 PM Rating: Good
As far as i can read it sasy xp given is lowered... does not mean you can't use your aoe on them....

Mages can level faster than any other class... and when ONE prime spot for leveling even FASTER is nerfed, you whine.

Deal.

Not being able to AoE the sludges is a big blow to mages and ones that have even set up their talent builds for it. It should have been expected though by the mage community. After the same thing happened with the Dire Maul plants, it was pretty clear that Blizzard didn't approve of the heightened exp gain from mage AoE.

It's only fair, why should mages get xp quicker then any other class, try levelling a priest, you'll whine yourself to death.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 02 2005 at 1:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Adding insult to injury, Blizzard has again nerfed the ability of mages to make fast experience killing multiple creatures with AOE spells and tactics. In the last patch, if I understood it correctly, damage done to creatures slowed or frozen in place due to ice-based spells was changed to negate the slowing effect. <Have been on vacation, wil recheck the exact wording>
Doesn't matter

This gets fixed before handing in quests in AV makes everyone stand up? gg Blizz ftw!

The mac client has it's own special team, different than those that work on AV bugs.
Fun..
