How can you arrogantly say you feel jipped? You paid so much for the game because you wanted it sooner than now, everything drops in price over time, especially technology and media. EVERYONE knows this. You already knew this would eventually happen. However, I do feel for those of you if you just bought all the FFXI software two weeks ago. That just sucks. /comfort

Hey guys, I just used my contacts to get the transcript of the meeting they held about this new thing - here it is, posted for ya.

Transcript for the meeting around "FINAL FANTASY XI: THE VANA'DIEL COLLECTION FOR WINDOWS"

Joe: Hey Bob, I just had a great idea!

Bob: Make it quick, I got a hangover.

Joe: Well, you know how we released a compilation pack for the Europeans of Final Fantasy XI?

Bob: Yea, what about it?

Joe: I had a really really cool idea! Let's re-release it!

Bob: Whoa, cool idea dude!! But wait, we gotta do something to make people think it's something really special, something they would want to shell their hard earned money on.

Joe: OK, how about, we include some nice video's of the higher end regions, maybe a battle or 2 to show people what the game is like, inspire them to go further than the boring first 10 levels?

Bob: Maaan, that means getting some of our Game Masters to play as normal characters, they wouldn't wanna do that - think about it, do you think they wanna be in a battle where they might actually get killed by something? Plus we gotta use Fraps to record the screen, and we've already told them they can't do that.

Joe: Oh yea, I forgot about that. Dang.

*a minute of silence passes*

Joe: Hey, I got it! How about we put all the files onto a single DVD? Give 'em the most up to date version we can, one that installs all the new files that have been changed since our original release, saves them from downloading them all. What'd you think?

Bob: I like the idea of putting it all onto one DVD, but updating the files? Maaaaan, that means we gotta create new masters for the CD's and get the files themselves from the boys in tech support. You know what a pain they can be! Hell it was bad enough getting them to give me a character I can use in the game! Took me 6 months, that did!

Joe: Oh, yea, of course you're right, I forgot about that too. I have one last idea for ya though.

Bob: Go on then.

Joe: We put the files onto a dvd, a straight copy of our install disks, just put them all as seperate ISO's, make a quick front-end up for it and to really make people feel special about it, to make them want to go out and buy it, we put it in gold packaging!

Bob: Hey, that might just work! Let's do it!

FRAPS sucks, literally (cpu). I just plug the audio and video into a digitizer and record on another comp. The DVD set isn't so bad. If you don't need it; don't buy it. As for me, I've been trying to get my wife into the game and now she's hooked. Even to the point that I barely get to play anymore. So it's time to get her her own account, and this is the perfect solution.

"Meaningless meaningless, everything is meaningless and nothing is new under the sun."

This really sums it up. I think the biggest waste of a college education is getting a degree in "Business" But somehow these mindless **** ***** make assload of cash marketing the same crap over and over again. The video game industry is almost to the point of network television...the same **** over and over again.

Well like it has been said earlier this bundle came out ages ago - it's basically just the euro edition (well, the only edition in the UK) with the only difference been that its all on the same disc. Which is questionable because you get less problems if you install and update everything seperately.

My little annoyance is the xbox 360 - has anyone looked at the screenies? It's miles better looking than the PC version (apparently SE has redone all textures and modelling, smoothed the animations, etc) - a PC could easily handle this so why do we get the ps2 port graphics. (No offence meant to any PS2 players, it's just that it's true - a good PC can easily handle more).

Anyway thats my little annoyance with em. Not really fussed about this so I'm off to work, see ya all later.

Sorry ; FFXI has been out about three 3 years, ALL games get reduced in price by that time. FFXI and Zilart package are already 20.00 together and CoP is 20.00, they just made it easier for new people to get it all for 10.00 less on 1 disc.

Yes new people are coming, did you so soon forget about the X-Box 360? Pray for more servers.

Yes some of the games are stupid, dont play them.
You aren't the only one on the server.

And it has been a year more or less since Chains of Promethea came out. Most companies would have had an expansion by then.

You know, I don't get why people get mad at SE for releasing something like this for cheap.

I mean, every single company that publishes books, movies, music, games, etc does this exact same thing, unless it's a collector's edition or something.

Sure, there's not always a re-released bundle like this, but they do lower the prices constantly after it's been out for a few months/years. I mean, it's not like SE said that you get access to new quests, missions, items, whatever from getting this.

Now, if SE said that everyone buying this would also get a free scorp. harness +1 or something, I'd be a little annoyed...

Nah, he's talking about World of Warcraft, the better twin from this year. (Note that FFXI doesn't count in this because it wasn't released this year.)
I have to agree with some of those points though, the honor system does suck and so does the battlegrounds for the moment, but they are updating it. Besides, this is about FFXI, not WoW.

They realised the EU version over 7, yes 7 CD's!
CD's POL x1
FFXI x3
Zilart x1
COP x2

and they could have realised it on one frigging DVD, lazy son`s of tonberries!, that's what naffed me off about this at the start, if you ever gotta reinstall, it's a pain in the rear. If you not got a DVD on your computer, then it's that prehistoric it's not gonna be able to run FFXI, all the FF games that came out on systems able to play DVD's were on DVD, so why make the PC one like that? Every comp from about 6 years ago with DVD drives as standard.

I am sorry I play FFXI all the time and wow my computer has never had a dvd driver in so hmm is my computer due to it having no DvD driver so prehistoric it can not play FFXI umm I guess not when I built it about the same time the game was first released in the US so please watch the comments about the fact that what a person has or does not have making there computer no do something as I never put a dvd player in my computer because I at the time just did not want one or have the need for one so I guess you might want to make sure you know what your talking about because I know sevral computers out on the market I can buy at this moment prebuilt that do not come with dvd drivers that can run windows

Ok first I am sorry that my punctuation is so bad. I am sorry but you can blame the oregon school system as they were not really worried about my education and was more worried about the fact that I was slow in learning but I am working on my punctuation. As for the fact that I suposably built a a sh*ty computer because I did not want to put a dvd driver in my computer. well here is a news flash for you buddy. One at the time I did not have the use for a dvd driver in my computer but I did have a great use for a cd wrighter and at the time everyone told me that the dvd cd wrighters were all bad and that the dvd burners were natoriuse for going out really fast so insted of wasting money and getting a dvd wrighter sytle I opted to buy a cd wrighter and could not aford at the time nor did I need one to put one in and the fact is I still have no use for one as everything I need usaly does not come on a dvd but a standered cd rom.
And please rate my post down sence you seem to want to do so even though it seems all I was tring to do is point out that not all computers have a dvd drive and I was not tring to belittle berate or put you down in any way but I guess sence I do not have a dvd driver in my computer then I guess the fact that I have one of the top of the line video and sound cards a 3000 xp athlon amd and a top of the line asus mother borad is making my computer a pos like you say and as for the top of the line video and sound card I have a audigy sz2 pro and I have a geforce4 grafics card pluss over a gig of ram but then again like you said my computer is a pos becausde I never felt the need to instell a dvd driver.

you do realize that those are japanese holidays, and if we get the chance to celebrate our holidays in the game, it's only fair that the japanese players on each server get a chance to celebrate theirs too. not to mention, you don't have to take part in any event if you don't want to.
