Feast of Swords

Master, you have to help us, kupo! Have you heard of the Feast of Swords? It's a Far Eastern festival that celebrates the health and growth of boys. People decorate with huge flags in the shape of fish, and dress their sons in fancy armor, kupo. There are also lots of magical, yummy goodies to eat, of course... Oops, talking about festivals always distracts me, kupo! After the slight hiccup with the Doll Festival, the M.H.M.U. decided to hold a festival that appealed to the male half of the adventuring population. We sought the advice of a distinguished samurai, and began preparing for the Feast of Swords, kupo. Our samurai adviser kindly brought in some sets of legendary armor from the Far East to lend an authentic feel to the event. That's when our problems began, kupo... Someone--or something--broke into our vaults and stole the suits of armor, kupo! Now the very same criminals have donned their ill-gotten costumes, infused them with their tainted auras, and are rampaging around the countryside! We took the bad news to the samurai and this is what he said, kupo: "I borrowed those suits of armor from the noble Genji family, a famous line of samurai. While I doubt that any blade could even raise a scratch, any damage to these rare and valuable artifacts could develop into a diplomatic nightmare. However, I believe that the evil entities corrupting the armor can be driven out through the use of specially blessed wooden katana. There is no other way to solve this dilemma." We must retrieve those suits of armor intact before the Feast of Swords is over. I don't want to be looking over my shoulder for retribution-seeking ninja assassins from the Far East, kupo! The M.H.M.U. put the festival preparations on hold to order a mountain of wooden katana. Please help us, kupo! Talk to an M.H.M.U. moogle to get your weapon, and then receive a special blessing from the nomad moogles outside town. Take the fight to those thieving scoundrels! The peace of Vana'diel--and the fate of the moogles--rests on your shoulders, kupo! [Event Participation] -Speak to the moogles in three main nations to receive Wooden Katana. -Characters will be eligible to participate in the event by talking to the moogles around the three main nations. -Players wishing to rejoin the event must speak to the moogles once more. -A level restriction will be imposed during event participation. Please be aware that any equipment that exceeds the level restriction will be unequipped automatically. -Characters who are KO'd during event participation will not lose experience points. -Characters will be unable to attack or be attacked by normal monsters while the level restriction is in effect. *This event is scheduled to begin at 17:00 on April 27 and end at 0:00 on May 9 (PDT). ------------------------------------------------------------

Everyone wants to go to jeuno...and with this event you don't even need an escort!

Think about it...there are nomad moogles who will cap you if you enter into the event with the katana just over the zone line opposite the Jeuno-ward zone of EVERY area leading from each of the three cities to jeuno...just get capped every time you zone. The mobs won't be able to aggro you, ignore the armors if you want, and go to the next zone...and happy festival!

^.^

This is my post from another Forum, incase no one has seen it. It should help.

Quote:
We are really posotive this is how it works. Tried it on many a mule.
You have to get the last hit to get the Hard Wooden Katana. So this part is fact.
How do you tell if you got it? You ask?
Ok when it says it falls to the ground, it will say it in 3 different colors. White is some one not in you party who killed it. A really faded yellow is someone in your party who killed it. A bright yellow text means you killed it. It's that simple ^.^ Have fun every one, And enjoy!
P.S. I killed everyone of the armors and didnt get nothing special for it. So there is nothing for doing that.

Skill? o.O

I saw Tatenashi Armor use a skill called Aetheral Toxin, and it had a Diaga effect. It took maybe a little less than half of my hp as a subless thf (mule!). it wasn't lethal, but just so you're aware ^^
ok..

Let me tell you what i have summed up while reading...

One: You talk to the moogle to receive a "Wooden Katana"
Two: Go find a "Nomad Moogle" To enchant your sword and give you a lvl restriction (Lvl depending on current area)

Three: Find and kill (or make him run crapless) a "Samurai Armor" thing.

Four: Return to moogle after Killing, or Defeating one and receive >>>

KIll it: Hardwood Katana (Rare/EX
(Great Katana)Races: all
Jobs: all Level: 1
DMG: 5 Delay:450
(bassicly an upgraded Wooden Katana)
Make it Run: 1-12 Mochi (costume food)
(yay costume...)

And thats what i hear, if im wrong, feel free to correct me

I was camping these guys in La Thenie with my LS, and we killed Ubu and Hachiryu.
Hachiryu means "Eight Dragon", Tsukikazu means "Moon Number" (I think), and Tatenashi means "Without Sword".. I'm not sure how accurate these translations are, but that's according to my Japanese/English dictionary ^^;

Ubu runs by the fissures north of the crag (but IN them, but around them), on the path north of the crag, by the lake (including north of the fissure there too), and NE of the crag and by the Jugner zone..

They seem to have some set places where they stop, but where they go is random.. they could even turn the oposite way they were going after a stop, and that could get annoying >.<

I love this event, thank you so much SE for making a fun activ event with a whm-equippable non-club/staff @_@

Because I haven't seen it mentioned yet, I just thought I'd add that you don't need a regular party or alliance to deal with these. Anyone can just run up and whack these things. My character was too young to be at the Treant event, so if that event was like this one, where anyone could just run up and attack them, {Please forgive me}

It's such a blast joining a hunting party aand tracking these things down with a huge group of people that just run around together, without being in a prty or an alliance. we've trained mobs before ...now the mobs are training us! :)

Here's my idea: If you get low on hp, get THFs to engage and whoever is taking main hate (most likely a Galka or Elvaan) uses 2h first. Then the next, until everyone is either healed or it runs. Good idea? Sounds it but I don't know, I've come up with some bad ones in the past...
prize on 9th May?
# Apr 28 2005 at 7:55 PM Rating: Decent
Can I just keep accumulating until the 9th May for the most valueable prize ya?

HW Katana does not really appeal to me. A taru whm. :P

No one knows what is the most valueable prize yet though.. How do I stop taking part in the event?
honestly...do you think there's something else?!
# Apr 28 2005 at 11:46 PM Rating: Default
um...why do people refuse to believe the honest truth
THERE IS NO OTHER PRIZE! THERE ARE ONLY RICE THINGIES AND THE HARDWOOD KATANA

Really, you're already getting many times the prize you got before (with the girl event which only had costume cakes) having a fun quest and a katana for low level beatings, why on earth would they have more than that? Other than it leading into another event...

Perhaps we'll be able to actually take part in the feast of swords? That would be neat. After saving the armor and all.

Got some new info. I got the Hardwood Katana without even seeing the Elvaan armor. I fought 3 Taru's, one Galka, and started on a Hume before turning it in. So from what I can tell there, you just need to make a certain number of hits total, regardless of what type of armor you attack. I did it all in one shot though, so I can't say whether that's cumulative.

I'd just like to point out that the hardwood Katana is not _completely_ useless. If your planning on becoming Samurai it gives you a G-Katana you can equip and skill up before you get the advanced job.

unfortunately, you can't skill up gk until you have either nin or sam because you have to have the skill to raise it. just because all jobs can use the hardwood katana doesn't mean you can raise the skill ><

This was a great event:

Ramuh Server, pretty much at the launch time of the event ^^ - I had just zoned in to Bastok Markets, after a very pitiful Ballista loss. (Rangers hurt me ; ;) and hear a shout:
"Did this Moogle just show up, or have I been out of the loop for awhile?"
So I run to the fountain, talked to the moogle, and got wood. Er, katana.
Zoned back out to S. Gustaburg, found the Nomad Moogle, and started chasing a Tsukikazu Armor found on widescan. Chased it around a bit, caught up with it near Mines entrance, and started to solo it...until it turned chicken and ran. I knew it wasn't going to be that easy ^^
Chased it around again, and managed to catch it the next time it stopped, as a little Taru JP engaged it. I said, "Teamwork ^^" and he said "<(Yes, please.)>"
Within a few minutes, we had a full alliance formed just to lay the smack down on the armors. And a little while after that, we had 2 full alliances, all of us going after the same armor.
Anyways, killing the armors got me the hard wood. Er, katana. We started chasing around the Ubuginu Armor for awhile, until we discovered it's TP attack, "Edge of Death" - it's lucky the thing was nearly defeated at the time, and everyone lived...until the next armor. I had decided that it would be alright not to heal myself, and sure enough, out of 36 people, who does the Ubuginu Armor decide to start hitting?

Death, HP to Jeuno and a quick airship ride back to Bastok. It was getting late, and after 30 minutes more I called it a night.

I ended up doing this for several hours last night and it was super fun for about the first 2 hours...but then again, it was about midnight, so I was getting kind of tired. ._.

Anyway, since everyone seems to have dissenting opinions on what you get, I want to add mine as well. ^^

I talked to the Moogle in Bastok, got my wooden katana. It took me a few minutes to realize that the Nomad Moogle was outside of the Mines exit rather than the Markets exit. So I run over to him with the wooden katana equipped and my lvl is restricted to 1. (I eventually ended up buying some lvl 1 equipment, Tarus look silly naked.)

I started following the running people and eventually caught up with one of those Armors. I immediately engaged (not even wondering if I could attack it or not) and I did 0 dmg but 1 additional dmg with an enthunder effect. I assume that means you're "absorbing the aura." Kind of cool. :)

I probably beat on 5-6 different armors before I ran back to the moogle in town and traded my katana for the first time. I got 4 Hume Mochi, 12 Galka Mochi, 6 Taru Mochi, and 12 Elvaan Mochi. o.O

So I ate a couple.

Then I went back out.

The second time I turned in my "aura" I had beat up maybe 4 different Armors, most of them from full life. I got a Hardwood Katana. I'll most likely keep that one and /toss the Wooden one. (I am seriously running out of room ><) I'm sorry, I don't remember if I landed the killing blow on any of the Armors that time out, as there were probably about 20 people crowding around and it was hectic. Also, my inventory was not 1 away from being full. I just thought that you automatically got it the second time you traded your aura. But apparently, that's wrong.

I went out one more time before going to bed and beat up about 4 more Armors. I have a feeling that wasn't quite good enough for the moogles, because I just got 12 more Elvaan Mochi and a few Galka Mochi.

I'll be going out again today and killing non-stop for awhile. Then, when I'm battle-worn and have lost 15lbs. chasing down those Armors, I'll trade in my katana again...and I better not get MORE Mochi. -.-

Good luck, everyone!

To stop the Armours:
Each Armour (taru, elf, human, galka) has a set territory and path. They also have SET STOPPING POINTS!!

Key: Once they stop, someone needs to engage them. If you engage close enough and soon enough, it will engage back. Otherwise it will run to the next location.

Note: Tarutaru Armour in East Saruta runs only on the upper lvl by Tahrongi Canyon zone. By far the easiest to track down. I practically solo-ed this armour in 30 min. =\
