Tuesday Tips -- April 12, 2005

Here is this week's Tuesday Tip!
Bag 'O Tips This week, we've collecting some bits of information that will help how the new combat system works so you can use it to your advantage. Melee and Ranged Playstyles In the Combat Upgrade, you will notice a distinct difference in the style of play between ranged and melee professions. Melee professions can take more damage to fulfill their role as a "tanking" profession while ranged professions can do more damage at range, but can't "tank" as well as melee professions. When you switch between these two professions, be sure to change up your approach when fighting NPCs and creatures to notice the difference. Scout Experience Scout experience is now based on the conning level of the NPC or creature, so while working on gaining scout experience, lower level cons will provide you with less scout XP than higher level cons. Group Experience Gaining Experience when grouped with other players is no longer a split of the total experience points given by an NPC or creature. Now, experience points gains while grouped are based on the con level of the NPC or creature for the group and the individual level for each player. Killing a target that is two levels under the group level will give an amount of experience to each player equal to killing a target two levels under their normal non-grouped level. There is also a group experience bonus which when combined with higher killing efficiency a group has over a solo individual will result in higher experience earned over time. SWG Interface / MMO Interface Recently, the default interface for Star Wars Galaxies changed to a traditional MMO interface with WASD controls. For those of you that prefer the classic SWG interface, you can change your settings by going into your options window (CTRL-O), Press the “Controls” button on the left side of the window, Press the button that says, “Keymap” and you will see a drop down menu for the keyboard interface. Select your choice of interface, click “Apply” and “Ok” and you're done! You can change back to the old controls if you prefer. Kurt "Thunderheart" Stangl Community Relations Manager
